māṟu (p. 351) கிறேன், மாறினேன், வேன், மாற, v. n. To become changed, exchanged, altered, reversed, cured; corrected in state, place, form, appearance, வேறுபட. 2. [improp. for மாற்று.] To change money, as மாறிக்கொ ண்டவன், he who has changed [a rupee]. 3. To lose an employment, with the dative of the person, as அவனுக்குத்தியோகம்மாறிப்போ யிற்று. 4. [in combin.] To change, as மாறி விழ, to draw back from a promise; மாறிவிழு ந்துபேசுகிறது, to tergiversate. 5. v. a. To whip with a rod, அடிக்க. 6. To exchange goods; to barter, பொருள்மாற. 7. To multiply numbers, எண்பெருக்க. 8. [prov.] To deny, மறுக்க. (c.) மரங்காய்த்துமாறிப்போயிற்று. The tree has ceased to bear fruit. அவனுக்குத்தியோகம்மாறிப்போயிற்று.
