A section in the poem of பிரபுலிங்கலீலை. சூனியக்காரன், s. fem. சூனியக்காரி.) A wizard, sorcerer, enchanter. சூனியம்பண்ண--சூனியஞ்செய்ய, inf. To be witch, to work witchcraft. 2. To injure, destroy, defile, annihilate, ruin. சூனியதிசை, s. The S. E. point of the compass, bring by some astrological or other influence deemed unpropitious. 2. The direction or side in which the breath does not pass from the nostril, right or left, at any given time. See. சரம். சூனியநிதி, s. A phasis of the moon, which, when a similar one occurs in the same month, is regarded as unpropitious, the other being propitious. சூனியத்துவம், s. Vacuity, emptiness, &c.,--as சூனியம், 4, 5, 6, which see. சூனியநாள், s. An unpropitious day. See கிழமைச்சூனியம். சூனியமனை, s. Bewitched ground. சூனியமாதம், s. To bury bewitched articles for the injury of some one. சூனியமாய்ப்போக, inf. To be annihilated. 2. To be useless, unprofitable. 3. To be degenerate, to be ruined--as சுத் தசூனியமாய்ப்போய்விட்டான். சூனியவாதம், s. Atheism as a system, நாஸ்திகமதம். சூனியவாதி, s. An atheist. 2. (c.) As சூ னியக்காரன். சூனியவித்தை, s. Danger of affliction from five principal things as ascertained by astrology, ஐவகைப்பீடை. பீடாபயம், s. Danger of disease, known from astrological calculation. பீடைகழிதல்--பீடை நிவாரணமாதல், v. noun. Being passed--as a season of misery, sorrow &c. பீடைபிடித்தல். Being seized with sorrow, &c. பீடைமாதம், s. The unlucky month; i. e. December, மார்கழிமாதம். பீடையானகாலம், s. The months are solar, as the Vákya, and not the Siddkanta system, is followed. The twelve months are, சித்திரை, April, வைகாசி, May; ஆனி. June; ஆடி, July; ஆவணி, August; புரட்டாசி, September; ஐப்பசி, October; கார்த் திகை, November; மார்கழி, December; தை, January; மாசி, February; பங்குனி, march. Each of these begins about the 11th or 12th of the corresponding English month; so that it includes most of that month, and a part of the next. The months are also called in Sanscrit as சைத்திரம், வைசாகம், சேஷ்டம், ஆஷாடம், சிராவணம், பாத்திரபதம், ஆஸ்வீ சம், கார்த்திகம், மார்க்கசிரம், புஷியம், மாகம், பாற்கு ணம், To each of the months is alloted one of the twenty-seven asterisms; to April, சித்திரை; to May, விசாகம்; to June, மூலம்; to July, உத்திராடம்; to August, அவிட்டம்; to September, பூரட்டாதி; to October, அச்சுவினி; to November, கார்த்திகை; to December, மிருக சீரிடம்; to January, பூசம்; to February, மகம்; to March, உத்திரம்; that is, to the Tamil months corresponding generally with these. மாசந்தோறும். Monthly. போனமாசம். Last month, ultimo. நாளதுமாசம். The current month. வருகிறமாசம்-அடுத்தமாசம். Proximo, the next month. மாசகந்தாயம், s. Tax paid monthly.
