cirai (p. 185) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To shave, to cut or pare close to the surface--as by a razor, மயிர்கழிக்க; [ex Sa. Kshura, to cut.] 2. [vul. a corruption of திரைக்க.] To gather up the skirts of a garment--as சீலையைத்திரைக்க. வேலைமினக்கெட்ட அம்பட்டன் பூனைக்குட்டியைச் சிரைத்தானாம். The unemployed barber shaved the cat, i. e., the idle will be mis-employed. சிரைகூலி, s. Barber's hire. சிரைதொழில்--சிரைவேலை, s. [prov.] Shaving, tonsure. 2. (fig.) A wearisome, unprofitable task, வீண்வேலை. (c.) சிரைத்துப்போட, inf. [vul.] To shave the privities. (in abuse.) சிரைத்துப்போட்டார். He has shaved me, i. e., attempted my injury. சிரைப்பிக்க, s.
