kuṇṭi (p. 118) s. The buttocks, backside, fundament, seat, rump of an animal; any rump-like protuberance, ஆசனபக்கம். 2. The kidney, பிருக்கம். 3. The heart, இருதயம். 4. The roe or spawn of a fish, மீன்சினை. 5. The lower end of fruits, nuts, &c.; that opposite the stalk, பழத்தின்கீழ்ப்புறம். குண்டிகழுவ, inf. To wash after passing excrements. குண்டிகழுவாதவர்கள், s. Those who do not wash themselves; a term of reproach given to Europeans--the practice being regarded as filthy. குண்டிக்காய், s. Kidneys, பிருக்கம். குண்டிக்குப்பின்னேபேச, inf. To backbite, to speak ill of one behind his back; low, and in anger. குண்டிக்கொழுப்பு, s. Pride, wantonness, arrogance, sauciness, insolence. குண்்டிச்சீலையைப்போட்டுக்கடக்க, inf. [prov.] To take an oath by stepping over the cloth taken from the waist; as practised by the lower castes. குண்டிமண்ணைத்தட்டிவிட்டோட, inf. [prov.] To leave, renounce or desert a person, thing, &c.; lit. to wipe off the dust of the buttocks and run away, விட் டுவிட. 2. To outwit, to out-scheme, to out-do another in cheating, &c., தந்திரத் திலேவெல்ல. குண்டியடிபடவிழ, inf. To fall on the buttocks from a height. குண்டியும்வாயும்பொத்த, inf. To stand in great awe of a person; to be much afraid; lit. to stop the mouth by one hand and put the other behind to save a kick, &c. குண்டியெலும்பு, s. The os sacrum, ஆச னவென்பு. குண்டிவற்ற, s. inf. [prov.] To be reduced as the mettle, arrogance; lit. the buttocks to be dry, பெருமையடங்க.

ciṉai (p. 189) s. Embryo, f&oe;tus, கருப்பம். 2. Spawn, மீன்சினை. (c.) 3. Egg, முட்டை. 4. Flower bud, பூவரும்பு. 5. Branch of a tree, மரக்கொம்பு. 6. A member, a component part,--as distinguished from முதல் உறுப்பு. 7. Bambu, மூங்கில். (சது.) 8. One of the six sources, பொதுவிடம், from which nouns are formed, பொருளாதியாறனுளொன்று.--Note. This word is in the first two meanings commonly applied to animals only. கெடாதஇடையன் சினையாட்டைக்காட்டினசம்பந் தம். As a shepherd, giving nothing, shows a ewe big with young; i. e. the illiberal make many promises. சினைகொள்ள, inf. To form--as flower buds. 2. To become impregnated--as animals. சினைப்பசு--சினைமாடு, s. A cow with young. சினைப்பட, inf. To be with young-spoken of animals. சினைப்பருவம், s. Ears forming inside the stalk, of growing grain. சினைப்பெயர், s. Names or nouns denoting parts or members of the body. 2. Names derived from such nouns. சினைமீன், s. A fish with spawn. சினையாக்க, inf. To impregnate. 2. (fig.) To cause excessive trouble, to annoy, தொந்தரவுகொடுக்க. சினைவினை, s. Verbs expressing the actions, motion, condition, &c., of the members or component parts of a body --as கால்முறிந்தது, the leg is broken, here, முறிதல் is a சினைவினை--opposed to முதல் வினை. 89)

mīṉ (p. 355) s. [a contrac. of மீனம்.] A fish, மச்சம், commonly மீனு. [fig. சலபுட்பம், சலவாழைக் காய்.] 2. A sea-monster, a shark, சுறாமீன். 3. A drum used in a village near the sea, or on a brackish soil, நெய்தற்பறை. (சது.) மீனங்கம், s. Fish-bone, as மீன்முள்; [ex அங்கம்.] மீனஞ்சு, s. [com. மீன்கொல்லிப்பூடு.] A plant that kills fish, Crotalaria paniculat; [ex நஞ்சு, poison.] மீனம்பர், s. Ambergris, செம்மீன்வயி ரம்; [ex அம்பர்.] மீனவன், s. Pandya, as மீனக்கொடி யோன். (சது.) மீனாய், s. [com. நீர்நாய்.] Beaver. See நாய். மீனாலயம், s. [lit. abode of fishes.] The ocean, the sea, கடல்; [ex ஆலயம்.] மீனேறு, s. A sea-monster, probably, the horned shark, மகரமீன். (சது.) மீன்கண்டம்--மீன்துண்டம், s. A piece of a fish. மீன்காரன், s. [fem. மீன்காரி.] One who sells fish. 2. A man of the fisher caste. மீன்குஞ்சு, s. A very young fish, a minnow. See நிச்சுப்பழக்க. மீன்குத்தி--மீன்கொத்தி, appel. n. [poet. மீனெறி.] Kingfisher. மீன்குழம்பு, s. [sometimes மீனாணம்.] A fish-sauce. மீன்கூடு, s. A fishing enclosure. மீன்கொடியோன், s. Pandya, as மீனக் கொடியோன். மீன்கொல்லி--மீன்கொல்லிப்பூடு--மீன் கொள்ளி, appel. n. As மீனஞ்சு. மீன்சிதள், s. Fish-scales, as மீன்செகிள். மீன்சிறகு, s. Fish-fins. மீன்சினை, s.
