iṭi (p. 45) s. A stroke, blow, push with the fist, elbow, shoulder, &c.--also with a club or other blunt weapon, தாக்குகை. 2. A thunder-bolt, அசனி. 3. (p.) A roar, thunder, sound, noise, ஒலி. 4. A short low dwarfish thing, thing grown short by use, worn off--as a pen, &c., தேய்ந்தது. 5. A lifeless body, உடல். 6. Defect, imperfection, inferiority, குறைவு. 7. The refuse or residuum of கேழ்வரகு, தினை and சாயவேர் root after pounding and sifting, திப்பி. 8. Roughness of the beard after shaving, மயிர் க்கட்டை. இந்தச்சீலையகலக்கட்டை. This cloth is narrow. இதுமுழக்கட்டையானசீலை. This cloth is deficient in length and breadth. அந்தமரத்திற்கிந்தமரங்கட்டை. This piece of timber is shorter than that. கல்வியிலவன்கட்டை. [prov.] He is deficient in learning. கட்டைகடாவ, inf. To fasten a splinter or pointed stick, &c. கட்டைக்காலி, s. [prov. vul.] A bear, கரடி--as short legged--and sometimes applied to women, cows, &c. கட்டைக்குரல், s. [prov.] A weak voice, கம்மினகுரல். கட்டைக்குருத்து, s. [prov.] The last tender leaf of a plantain which envelopes the sheath or blossom and shoots out a little before it. கட்டைநெருப்பு, s. Coal fire. கட்டைப்புத்தி, s. Shallow wit, weak intellect, stupidity, தடிப்புத்தி. கட்டையடிக்க, inf. To pass a stick through a plucked jack-fruit to ripen it, ஆப்படிக்க. 2. To hurt the foot against a stump by striking on it, காலிற்கட்டையிடற. 3. To drive a stake into the ground to tie animals to, முளைகடாவ. கட்டையன், s. (fem. கட்டைச்சி.) A short person, குறளன். கட்டைவாக்கு, s. Dimness in a precious stone, இரத்தினத்தின்மங்கலொளி. கட்டைவிரல், s. The thumb or great toe, காலின்பெருவிரல். கட்டைவைத்தல், v. noun. To be shed or cast out, to fall, சிந்த. கொட்டினாற்றேள் கொட்டாவிட்டாற்பிள்ளைப்பூச்சி. If it sting, it is a scorpion; if not, it is a harmless gryllus; i. e. we call things good or bad according to their effect on us. கொட்டிக்கொட்டியளக்க, inf. To cast down and measure again and again; i. e. again, one marcal will not make two. கொட்டிகொட்டியளந்தாலுங்குறுணிபத்தாகாது. Though you measure over and over again, one marcal will not make two. கரப்பன்அள்ளிக்கொட்டிப்போட்டது. An eurption has broken out all over the body. பனிகொட்டுகிறது. The dew falls heavily. கொட்டிக்கொடுக்க, inf. To pour out and give, to give to excess, to lavish, to squander. 2. (fig.) To make a display of words, to say more than is proper. சப்பாணிகொட்ட, inf. A rod for striking off grain, in measuring, a strickle. பறைக்காளி--பறைக்காலி--பறைக்கால், s. [vul. பறக்காளி.] Muslin of fine cloth woven by Pariahs; also used for a coarse kind. பறைக்குடி, s. A Pariah family. பறைக்கோலம், s. Mean attire or appearance. பறைசாற்ற, inf. To publish govern ment orders by beat of drum. 2. [fig.] To blab out secrets, to tattle, வெளிப்படுத்த. பறைச்சேரி, s. The song or speech of a Pariah, and the flower of சுரை gourd are both destitute of fragrance. பறைப்புடையன், s. A kind of புடை யன் serpent. பறைப்பூச்சி, s. [prov.] A spider. பறைப்பேச்சு, s. Low, vulgar language, the ungrammatical dialect of Pariahs. பறைமுழக்கு, v. noun. The sounding of drums by Pariahs at the temples of the ferocious deities, and at cross roads, in case of sickness. பறைமுறை, s. Publishing by beat of drum. பறைமுறைசாற்ற--பறைமுறைபோட --பறைமுறையிட, inf. muẕkku (p. 358) கிறேன், முழக்கினேன், வேன், க்க, v. a. To sound, to beat a sounding instrument, தொனிக்கச்செய்ய. அவன்நன்றாய்முழக்கிவிட்டான். He spake eloquently, (lit.) he thundered. முழக்கு, v. noun. muẕm (p. 358) s. A cubit-measure, containing two spans, இருசாண்கொண்டது. (c.) இந்தப்புடவைமுழமில்லை. This cloth is not long. முழக்கட்டை, s. A short cloth; anything wanting the full measure. முழக்கோல், s. A land-measurer's rod of eight cubits. 2. A cubit-measure. 3. A mason's rule of two cubits, தச்சர் வழங்குங்கோல். முழங்கால், s. Knee-joint. முழங்காலைமுடக்கு. Bow the knees. முழங்காற்சில்--முழங்காற்சிப்பி, s. Cap of the knee, the knee-pan. முழங்காற்படியிட, inf. To kneel, to kneel down. முழங்கை, s. Elbow. முழத்தடி, s.
