mūngkil (p. 361) s. [com. used மூங்கி.] The common graceful bambû, Bambûsa arundinacea, வேய்.--There are கல்மூங்கில், that which is hard; குழாய்மூங்கில், that with a hollow stem; also விஷமூங்கில், and வேலிமூங் கில், which see. மூங்கிற்பாயுமுரட்டுப்பெண்டாட்டியும். A bambû mat and an obstinate wife. [prov.] மூங்கிலரிசி, s. The seed of the bambû freed from the husk; sometimes eaten. மூங்கிலுப்பு, s. A medicinal salt found in certain female bambûs, composed of silex and potash, Tabasheer. [Ains. v.i. p. 419.] மூங்கிற்குத்து--மூங்கிற்போத்து, s. A cluster of bambû-saplings.
