caṉṉi (p. 173) s. Affection of the brain, apoplexy, paralysis, convulsions, delirium from fever, &c., சீதநோய்; [perhaps from the Sa. Sanipata, with its suffix apocopated.] --Note. In medical works, thirteen kinds of சன்னி are described. viz.: 1. கண்டகுப் சம், nervous affections of the throat, sore throat; [ex குப்சம், crookedness.] 2. சந்தி கம், (Union.) a disease arising from improper sexual intercourse. It is of two kinds. சுகசன்னி, of a man after bathing with the use of oil for anointing, and சூத கசன்னி, of a female during menstruation. 3. தாந்திரிகம், nervous debility. 4. பகீகனநேத்தி ரகம், affection of the nerves of the eye, blindness. 5. ருக்தாகம், pains of the body attended with thirst. 6. சிஃவீகம், nervous affection of the tongue, dumbness. 7. பிர லாபம், falling sickness, epilepsy. 8. அந்த கம், convulsion preceeding death. 9. ரக்த ஷடீவி, mucus mingled with blood from the nose. 1. சித்தவிப்பிரமம், fainting fits, syncope. 11. சீதகாத்திரகம் or சீதாங்கம், congestion of blood attended with spasms and profuse perspiration; spasmodic cholera. 12. கர்நீகம், nervous deafness. 13. அபின்னி யாசம், convulsion, distortions. சன்னிகுன்மம், s. Convulsive fits. (R.) சன்னிக்கட்டி, s. [prov.] A tumor near or in the ear, காதுவீக்கம். சன்னிக்குணம், s. The stage of a disease bordering upon that of coma, apoplexy, &c., 2. Symptoms, indications, &c., of coma, &c. (c.) சன்னிநரம்பு, s. Nerves of the great toe, which being injured are sometimes inflamed so as to produce lock-jaw. சன்னிநாயகம், s. A plant--black cumin, கருஞ்சீரகம். See சீரகம். 2. A medicinal plant, தும்பைப்பூண்டு. Phlomis Indic. L. சன்னிநாயன்--சன்னிகணாயன், s. (lit. god of fits.) As சன்னிநாயகம், 2. சன்னிபாதம், s. A morbid state of the three humors of the body resulting in paralysis, convulsions, &c.--as சன்னி. W. p. 891. SANNIPATA. சன்னிபாதசுரம், s. (also சன்னிவாதசுர ம்.) Convulsions accompanied with fever. சன்னிபிறக்குதல், v. noun. The inducing of coma. c. அலறுசன்னி, s. Convulsions accompanied with laughter, hysterics--as கம் பீரசன்னி. இரணசன்னி--புறவீச்சுச்சன்னி, s. External convulsions. இசிவுசன்னி, s. Lock-jaw. see underஇசி. v. உள்வீச்சுச்சன்னி, s. niṟai (p. 277) கிறது, ந்தது, யும், ய, v. n. To become full, பூரணப்பட. 2. To abound, be copious, plenteous, profuse, மிக. 3. To overflow, be suffused, பெருக. 4. To be satisfied, contented, replenished, saturated, திருத்தியாக. 5. To be or become complete or replete, to be finished, perfected, பரிபூரணமாக. (c.) நிறைந்திருங்கள். Be still, be silent, spoken when some important thing is done auspiciously. நிறைகரகம், s. A vessel filled with water and carried on the head in a dance in honor of Máriammai and other female deities. நிறைகர்ப்பம், s. Advanced pregnancy. நிறைகர்ப்பிணி, s. A woman near the time of her delivery. நிறைகலை, s. [com. பூரணகலை.] Fulness, entireness, completion of the parts, பூர ணாமிசம். 2. Splendor as fancied in the face of an idol, from a supposed divine afflatus, பூரணதேயசு. 3. The full moon, பூரணசந்திரன். 4. The manifestation of a deity in full glory, முழுக்காட்சி. 5. Poissession of an oracle by a deity or demon, பூரணசத்தி. 6. (fig.) Being intoxicated, top heavy, முழுவெறி. நிறைகன்றுத்தாய்ச்சி, s. [prov.] A cow with calf. நிறைகுடம், s. A full pot of water, as used in ceremonies and on festive occasions, adorned with a cocoanut, mango leaves, grain, &c., as an auspicious sight, &c., also one of the ensigns of royalty. See குடம். நிறைசபை--நிறைந்தசபை, s. A full meeting, council or court. நிறைசன்னி, s. A full fit of apoplexy. மூடுசன்னி. நிறைசூல், s. Full pregnancy, commonly applied to cattle. 2. (p.) Teeming with buds, ready to blossom or bear --as trees, &c. நிறைசெல்வம், s. Adundant wealth, independent opulence. நிறைசெல்வன், s. Kuvera, god of wealth, குபேரன். நிறைநரம்பு, s. Being full-stringed, as a lute with ten strings; as நிறைநரம்புள்ள வீணை. நிறைநாழி, s. Full measure of the நாழி. நிறைநாழிவைத்தல், v. noun. Placing a measure full of paddy at a marriage, funeral, &c., deemed auspicious, ஓர்சடங்கு. நிறைந்தகுணம்--நிறைந்தமனம், s. A satisfied, contented mind. 2. A cheerfull disposition. நிறைந்தமனிதன், s. A man of noble mind. 2. A perfect man. நிறைந்திருக்க, inf. To be full, complete. 2. To be still, silent, &c., as a company. நிறைந்தவீடு, s. A marriage-house, an auspicious term. நிறைபயிர், s. Thick corn, அடர்ந்தப யிர். நிறைபாரம், s. [improp. நிறைவாரம்.] A heavy load, கனத்தசுமை. 2. Being fully adorned with jewels, &c., அணிகலத்தின்மி குதி. 3. [in contempt.] Eating to the full, மட்டின்றிச்சாப்பிடல். 4. Being loaded with fruit as a tree, பழமிகுதி. நிறைபானை, s. A full jar. நிறைபிள்ளைத்தாய்ச்சி, s. A woman in advanced pregnancy. நிறைபூசல், s. [vul. நிறுபூசல்.] Great noise, bustle, stir, பேரொலி. நிறைபொங்கல், s. A full, overflowing, auspicious boiling, as of rice and milk, at the Pongul, தைப்பொங்கல். 2. Many pots of rice boiling at a temple, அநே கம்பானைகளிலிடும்பொங்கல். நிறைமணி, s. [prov.] A profuse offering, especially to Ganesa, பூரணாபிஷேகம். நிறைமதி, s. Full-moon, பூரணசந்திரன். 2. mūṭu (p. 361) கிறேன், மூடினேன், வேன், மூட, v. a. To shut, shut in, inclose; shut the eyes. mouth, &c., அடைக்க, பொத்த. 2. To cover, hide, screen, obscure, shroud, veil; to filled up, covered, levelled, as--new made furrows by rain, நிரவ; [from. Sa. Muda, to cover.] வாயைமூடு. Hold your tongue. அஞ்ஞானமெங்குமூடியிருக்கிறது. Spiritual ignorance extends everywhere. மூடினமுத்துமூன்றுலோகம்பெறும்மூடாததுமுக்காற் காசும்பெறாது. A pearl kept covered [concealed] is worth three worlds, one exposed is not worth three fourths of a cash; said of the secrets in science. [prov.] மூடி, appel. n. (lit.)
