Weakness, gentleness, suavity, tractableness, mildness, placidity, மெத்தெனவு. 5. Pliancy, smoothness, suppleness, blandness, இணக் கம். 6. Submission, resignation, தாழ்மை-In most of the meanings it is limited to jaffna. பதமையானஓலை. Pliant, tender olas fit for matting, &c. பதமையானகடுதாசி. Smooth paper. பதமையானகுணம். Mild or meek disposition. பதமையானவன். A mild, considerate man. 2. A man rather slow. பதமையாகக்காரியம்பார்க்கிறவன். He is one who attends to a thing deliberately. 13)

mettu (p. 362) s. Softness, மென்மை; [from Sa. Mid.] (சது.) மெத்தென, Softly, gently. (p.) மெத்தெனப்படுத்தனித்திரைக்கழகு. A soft bed promotes sleep. (Avv) மெத்தெனவு. Mildness of disposition, timper or speech,pliancy, சாந்தகுணம். வெட்டெனவுமெத்தெனவைவெல்லாது. Rage will not conquer meekness. (நன்னெறி.) 8)
