To curse, to utter a malediction, especially with power, real or supposed, to give it effect. சாபத்தீடு, s. [vul.] An imprecation, a curse. 2. The effects of a curse. சாபநிவாரணம்--சாபநிவர்த்தி--சாபவி மோசனம், v. noun. The removal of a curse, usually by its author in consequence of some atonement, or intercession. சாபநீங்குதல்--சாபந்தொலைதல், v. noun. The expiring or removal of a curse. சாபம்நீக்க, inf. To remove the curse formerly pronounced upon certain medicinal plants by different Rishis; or by Sita wife of Rama, when in captivity in Lanka, to prevent their being employed as a philter to allure her affections. Of the soul; 1. களாபடனம், education, communication of knowledge, கல் விபயிற்றுகை; 2. வியாதாகாரம், comfort to the afflicted, consolation of mind, துயர்தீர்க்கை; 3. நிர்க்கத்தண்டனம், relieving from punishment, தண்டம்நீக்குகை; 4. சந்தேகவாரணம், removing doubts, contingency, &c., ஐயந் தேற்றுகை; 5. அன்னியகுணசகனம், hearing of the superiority of others without envy, and enduring their infirmities with patience, பிறந்குணத்தழுக்காறின்றிப்பொறுத்தல்; 6. பரதிருதுனயோகம், forgetting the evils inflicted by others and seeking to do them good, பிறராற்செய்யப்படுந்தீமையைமறந்தூன்றிநி னைக்கை; 7. பார்த்ததேவப்பிராத்திதம், praying for the prosperity and good of others, பிறர்நிமித்தந்தேவனைவழிபடுதல். Those regarding the body or சத்தாங் கோபகராம் are: 1. அன்னம், food, giving boiled rice, உணவு; 2. பானம், drink, குடிக்க நீர்; 3. அம்பரம், raiment, வஸ்திரம்; 4. மந்திரம், a dwelling, இடம்; 5. தாசபாலனம். preservation from slavery, அடிமைகாத்தல்; 6. காராமயத்திரிதயமோசனம், removing the three afflictions of captivity, சிறைநோய் மூன்றுந்தீர்த்தல். viz.: restraint from the calls of nature, மலசலவாதை; corporal punishments, சரீரதண்டனை; chains, fetters, விலங்கு போடல். 7. சவச்சேமம், burial, பிரேதமடக்கல். There are eight other kinds of benevolence. 1. பிறர்க்குப்பொருள்வரவையுவத்தல், rejoicing in a neighbor's wealth; 2. பிறர்செல்வம்பொறுத்தல், being content in seeing a neighbor's welfare; 3. பிறர்கருமத் திற்குடன்படுதல், assisting in other's business, with interest; 4. தீமைக்கஞ்சல், fearing to do evil; 5. பிறர்கருமமுடிக்கவிரைதல், hastening to assist others; 6. பிறரையந் தீர்த்தல், removing other's doubts; 7. நன் மைகடைப்படித்தல், preserving in doing good; 8. பிறர்துயர்க்கிரங்கல், commiserating the distress of others; sympathizing with the afflicted. 19) *

Union or identification with the deity, sometimes described as enjoyed even before quitting the body. பரமசித்தி, s. Heavenly bliss, முத்தி. பரமசுந்தரி, s. The goddess of virtue, தருமதேவதை. பரமசைதன்னியம், s. Universal spirit or intelligence, the Supreme Being. பரமதூர்த்தன், s. A capital rake, மிகு துட்டன். பரமநாழிகை, s. The whole period of hours during which a திதி, வாரம், கரணம், யோகம் or நட்சத்திரம் lasts. பரமநிஷ்டை, s. Contemplation on the deity, the mind being entirely set upon பரமநிவர்த்தி, s. Final liberation from anxieties, and secularities, &c., பாச விமோசனம். பரமபதம், s. The heaven of a god, more especially of Vishnu, as bestowed on his followers. பரமபதவாசி, s. An inhabitant of the heavenly place. 2. Vishnu; also Siva. பரமபாகவதசிகாமணி--பரமபாகவதன், s. A superior class of Vaishnuvas. பரமமூர்த்தி, s. The Supreme Being. 2. Vishnu, விஷ்ணு. பரமயோக்கியம், s. An atom, the invisible base of aggregate bodies; In Wils. thirty of them are supposed to form a mote in a sunbeam, பொருண்மூலம். 2. [in modern usage.] Atmosphere, ஆகா யம்.--The atomic bases of the five elements, called பஞ்சபூதஅணு, are பிருதுவிப் பரமாணு, atomic base of earth, being water; 2. அப்புப்பரமாணு, of water, being fire; 3. தேயுப்பரமாணு, atomic base of fire, being air; 4. வாயுப்பரமாணு, of air or wind. being ether; 5. ஆகாயப்பரமாணு, of ether being maya. பரமாத்துமம்--பரமாத்துமா, s. The soul of the universe. 2. The Deity or universal soul, as contrasted with சீவாத் துமா, the human soul. பரமாத்துமன், s. God as the soul of the world, கடவுள். 2. (fig.) A saint, or glorified spirit, சுத்தாத்துமா. பரமாயு--பரமாயுஸ், s. Great age, தீர்க்காயு. 2. Full age according to one's maturity. பரமாபமம், s. The inclination of a planet's orbit to the equator; [ex அபமம்.] பரமார்த்தம், s. Any excellent or important aim, or object, மேலானபொருள். 2. A kind of spiritual knowledge which reveals the vanity and illusion of the world, மெய்ஞ்ஞானம். 3. [com. in irony.] Simplicity. பரமார்த்தகுரு--பரமார்த்தன், s. A simpleton, not experienced in worldly affairs. பரமார்த்தகுருவின்கதை, s. Story of Guru Noodle by Beschi. பரமாற்புதம், s. A divine miracle. பரமானந்தம், s. Spiritual joy, heavenly delight. 2. [usage.] பாசபந்தர்--பாசபந்திகள்--பாசபெத் தர்--பாசபெந்தர், s. [pl.] Those engrossed, or bound by the entanglements of matter, the senses, &c. பாசபாணி, s. Varuna, வருணன். 2. Messenger of Yama, இயமதூதன்; (lit.) the rope-armed. 2. Yama, the god of death, நமன்; [ex பரணி, hand.] பாசமோசனம்--பாசவிமோசனம், s. Release of the soul from earthly entanglements. பாசம்வீச, inf. The darkness of illusion from மும்மலம், or the threefold defilements, ஆணவம், மாயை, and காமியம். பாசவைராக்கியம், s. Five kinds of delusion, or evil, on the principles of Adwitas or followers of Sankaracharya. They are: 1. தமம், the tamasa disposition--darkness, or obscurity of mind; 2. மாயை, ideality, inherent evil, personified matter; 3. மோகம், depravity, error; 4. அவித்தை, ignorance, folly; 5. அநிர்தம், that which is without, or strange, opposed to God. அதோமாயை--அசுத்தமாயை, s. Subordinate or inferior illusion, or Maya. அதோமாயையிலிருந்துபிரகிருதிதோன்றும். The female principle in nature springs from the inferior Maya. சுத்தமாயை--மகாமாயை, s. Primitive or original Maya, as காரணமாயை. மாயாகாரியம், s. The effects of Maya, its various changes, and diversifications in nature. மாயாசங்கற்பம், s. Any remarkable effect of Maya by way of creation or destruction. மாயாசத்தி, s. A power, energy, or principle which contains the five kinds of மாயை, given above. See மாமாயை. மாயாசாலம்--மாயாசித்து, s. Dissimulation, treachery, imposture. மாயாதருமம், s. Transient or deceptive merit, பொய்ப்புண்ணியம். 2. Nature or peculiarity of Maya, மாயையின்றன்மை. மாயாதர்மம், 2. The two peculiarities of Maya are: 1. சங்கோசம், contracting; 2. விகாசம், expanding. மாயாதாரகம், s. That which has Maya for a principal cause. மாயாதாரணை, s. Things formed by Maya, the third of nine classes. See தாரணை. மாயாதேகம், s. A transitory body, நிலை யற்றசரீரம். மாயாதேவி, s. The mother of Buddha, புத்தன்றாய். மாயாதேவிசுதன், s. They are five; 1. அசத்து, unreality; 2. சடம், matter; 3. அநித்தம், transientness; 4. துக்கம், distress; 5. கண்டம், division, a part. மாயாலீலை, s. Sportive illusions, as of Krishna, Siva, &c.
