kṭṉ (p. 87) s. Debt, loan of money or of goods on trust, இருணம். 2. Tribute, tax, குடியிறை. 3. Duty, obligation, what is proper to be done or what one is bound to do, that which is devolved on one, accountability, responsibility, கடமை. 4. Measurement, அளவு. 5. A dry measure--the மரக்கால். கடனுக்குப்பாதகனாய்ப்போனவன். One who is deeply in debt. காலைக்கடன்கழித்தல். Performing the morning devotional exercises. அதுன்மேல்விழுந்தகடன். One who is obliged to do a thing. 2. A debtor. கடன்கட்டு--கடன்வழி, s. Doing a thing for form's sake, not cordially. கடன்கட்டாய்ப்பேச, inf. To speak roughly. கடன்கழிக்க, inf. To perform a duty, to return a kindness, &c., கடமை செய்ய. 2. To perform the last funeral rites for a deceased person, either by fire or water, பிதிர்கருமஞ்செய்ய. 3. To perform private devotions as the repetitions of the மந்திரம், &c., நித்தியகருமஞ்செய்ய. 4. To do a service for one out of compliment, or for form's sake, மனமின்றிச்செய்ய. கடன்காரன், s. A debtor, கடன் பட்டவன். 2. sometimes a creditor, கடன் கொடுத்தவன். கடன்கேட்க, inf. To demand a debt. 2. To ask for a loan of money. கடன்கொடுத்தவன், s. A creditor, a loaner. கடன்சீட்டு--கடன்பத்திரம்--க டன்முறி, (s.) A bond of debt. கடன்செய்ய, inf. To do one's duty, கடமைசெய்ய. 2. To perform funeral rites, பிதிர்கருமஞ்செய்ய. கடன்திருநாள், s. A holy festival observed in fulfilment of a vow. (Besch.) கடன்பட, inf. To contract debt, be indebted, கடனுக்குள்ளாக. கடன்பற்ற, inf. To recover payment of a debt, கடனறவிட. கடன்வாங்க, inf.
