niṣātam (p. 276) s. The last or higest note of the musical scale. The other notes are: 1. சட்ஜமம். 2. ரிஷபம். 3. காந்தாரம். 4. மந்தரம். 5. பஞ்சமம். 6. தைவதம். The initials of these are taken to denote the gamet, as ச, ரி, க, ம, ப, த, நி. The octave is sometimes called நிஷாதசட்ஜமம். 67)
