A class of savages, supposed to form a part of the aborigines of Southern India. குறும் பர்சாதி. Those living in the forests and jungles were called காட்டுக்குறும்பு, and those in towns and strongholds நாட்டுக்குறும் பு. 5. Barbarity, savageness, stubbornness, insolance, wickedness, குறும்புத்தன்மை. குறும்பர், s. (pl. of குறும்பன், sing.) The people of the Kurumba class. 2. The principal பாலை plants, and trees, are ஊசிப்பாலை, a plant, Periploca esculenta; 2. ஏழிலைம்பாலை. ஏழிலைப்பாலை, a tree, Echites scholaris, of which the Tamil and Sanscrit names are derived, from its having seven leaves around the stem; 3. காக்காய்ப் பாலை, a tree, Gelonium bifarium; 4. குட சப்பாலை--கொடிப்பாலை--கறிப்பாலை, a creeping plant, Asclepias volubilis; 5.வெட்பாலை, a plant, Nerium antidysentericum; also ஆடுதின்னாப்பாலை, திருநாமப்பாலை, நிலப்பாலை, பூப் பாலை, விழுப்பாலை, which see in their places. --The seven classes of airs are: செம்பாலை, படுமலைப்பாலை, செவ்வழிப்பாலை, அரும்பாலை, கொ டிப்பாலை, விளரிப்பாலை, மேற்செம்பாலை, which see. பாலைக்கருப்பொருள், s. They are. 1. பாலைத்தெய்வம், the goddess, Durga, துர்க்கை. 2. பாலைக்குடிமகன், inhabitants, the வேடர், or hunter caste; 3. பாலைத்தலைவன் the chief, as காளை, 4. பா லைநிலத்தூர், the village, as குறும்பு; 5. பாலைநீர், well-water; 6. பாலைப்பண், the melody, as பஞ்சுரம்; 7. பாலைப்பறை, a small drum as துடி; 8. பாலைப்புள், the birds, as the dove, புறா; kite பருந்து; and eagle, கழுகு; 9. பாலைப்பூ, the flowers, as of பூளை, பாலை, and கள்ளி plants; 1. பாலைமரம், the trees as குரா, and மரா; 11. பாலைநிலமாக்கள் தொழில், occupation of the inhabitants-mostly plundering. கொள்ளையாடல்; 12. பாலைமாக்களூண், the food, plunder--on which they principally subsist; 13. பாலைவிலங்கு, the animals, a wild dog that chases tigers; 14. பாலையாழ், a lute of desert tracts. பாலைக்காடு, s. muṉai (p. 359) s. Point, sharpened end, tenon, edge, front, நுனி. [Tel. குனை, கொனை.] 2. A cape, or head-land-projection, நீண்டுகூரிய நிலம். 3. Battle, fight, war, யுத்தம். 4. Hatred, பகை. 5. Superiority, eminence, priority, முதன்மை. 6. Boldness, audacity, துணிவு. 7. Dislike, aversion, வெறுப்பு. 8. As முனை, 6. முனைவிழுந்துபோயிற்று. The point is fallen off. 2. Valor has become prostrate. முனையாய்வருகிறது. Coming up boldly, or with spirit. அந்தமுனையிலிருந்துஇந்தமுனைமட்டும்வருகிறான்..... He comes from that point to this. இவன்கத்திமுனையில்நிற்கிறான். He stands on the point of a sword; is in haste to fight. முனை, 5. The five different ways of procuring a livelihood, சீவனமுனை: 1. வா ள்முனை, by the sword; 2. கொழுமுனை, by the plough; 3. எழுத்தாணிமுனை, by the style or pen; 4. கதிர்முனை, by the distaff and weaving; 5. ஊசிமுனை, by the needle. முனைகாரன்-முனையுள்ளோன், s.
