[in metallurgy.] Fineness of gold, or silver, by the touchstone, பொன்வெள்ளிகளின்மா ற்று. 5. (Beschi.) An acre of land or as much as one yoke of oxen can plough in a day, ஓரணைமாடுஒருநாளுழும்நிலம். எத்தனைமாற்று. What is the degree of fineness of the gold? மாற்றுயர்ந்தபொன். Fine gold. மாற்றுக்கட்டை, s. Inferior in quality, as gold, &c. மாற்றுக்கொடுக்க, inf. To supply a change of cloths, commonly to women during their confinement, &c. 2. [with ஒரு] To administer an antidote. மாற்றுமருந்து, s. An antidote, or medicine given to repel poison or subdue another medicine. மாற்றுவஸ்திரம், s. A change of garment. 3)

vṇṇāṉ (p. 376) s. [fem. வண்ணாத்தி, pl. வ ண்ணார்.] A washer-man, bleacher, as ஏகாலி. அழுக்குவண்ணானுக்குப்போட்டிருக்கிறது.......The soiled cloths are given to the washer men வண்ணான்துறை--வண்ணாரத்துறை, s. The water-side, where washer-men wash. வண்ணான்மாற்று, s. Cloths given by washer-men in exchange. See மாற்று. 2. [fig.] Any thing temporary, evanescent, ephemeral. 9)

(சது.) வெறுந்தண்ணீர், s. Water only. வெறுந்தப்பறை, s. A complete error. வெறுந்தலை, s. [appel. வெறுந்தலையர்.] A bare head as an inauspicious sight, requiring a சாந்தி to remove its effects. வெறுமனை, s. Unoccupied building ground. 2. An empty house. வெறுமனே, s. In vain, without advantage; chiefly used by Brahmans. வெறும்பானை, s. An empty pot, or vessel. வெறம்பானையிலீப்புகுந்ததுபோல. Like a fly in an empty vessel வெறும்பிலுக்கு, s. Foppery without means to support it. வெறும்பிலுக்குவண்ணான்மாற்று.....Dressing in garments borrowed from a washerman is but vain foppery. வெறும்பிழை, s. A complete error. வெறும்பொய், s.
