To be shaken with the wind or otherwise, அசைக்கப்பட்டுதிர. 3. To crumble, fall to pieces as cakes (பிட்டு), பிதிர. 4. To fall as tears, சிந்த. 5. To die (used in imprecations), சாவ. நீசீக்கிரமுதிர்ந்துபோவாய். You shall die soon (a curse). தாரகையுதிர்ந்த. The stars fell. (ஸ்காந்தம்.) பூவுதிரப்பிஞ்சுதிரக்காயுதிரக்கனியுதிர. A disease, smallpox of various kinds, so called from the scabs falling off, ஓர்வைசூரி. 3. A species of plantain, ஓர்வகைவாழை. உதிரிக்குத்து, s. Aching pain incident to one attacked with உதிரி. உதிரித்தழும்பு, s. The pits left by the smallpox, அம்மைவடு. வரகுதிரி, s. A species of smallpox whose pustules are remarkably diminutive, like வரகு seeds. சருகுதிரி, s. A species of smallpox attended by the sloughing away of the affected flesh. மிளகுதிரி, s. A species of smallpox, the pustules of which are the size of pepper seeds. கல்லுதிரி, s. A species of smallpox the pustules of which are very large. உதிர், s. Powder, dust, any thing crumbled, பொடி. உதிர்வு, v. noun. Falling off, &c., உதிர்கை. 2. Crumbling to pieces, உகுகை. 20)

The gods whose bodies melted, through want of air, like wax statues. மனமுருக, inf. To be kind, to pity, sympathize. உருக்கம், v. noun. Melting (of heart), tenderness, pity, compassion, commiseration, sympathy, இரக்கம். 2. Tender or ardent love to a deity, or a dear friend, அன்பு. 3. Melting, உரு குகை. உருக்கங்காட்ட, s. kṭu (p. 87) க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. To throb--as from a sting, venomous bite, the prick of a thorn, tooth-ache, விரு விருக்க. 2. To ache--as with colic, dysentery, &c.; to have pain as the leg from walking; the shoulders or head from carrying a load; the mouth from speaking; the arm from writing, &c., உளைய. 3. To be seasoned too highly, or otherwise spoiled--as curry, commonly, கடுகடுக்க. 4. (p.) To be like, to resemble, ஒக்க. 5. To be in doubt, or uncertainty, to hesitate, ஐயுற. 6. To be angry, impatient, fretful, கோபிக்க. 7. To pass swiftly, விரைய. கடுத்தபின். When (the king) suspects. (குறள்.) கடுத்துப்போனதண்ணீர். Bad water, water unpleasant to the taste. அடுத்ததுகாட்டும்பளிங்கேபோல்நெஞ்சங்கடுத்ததுகா ட்டுமுகம். The face indicates the resentment of the heart, as the mirror reflects the shape of things placed before it. ஊமன்கண்ணிலாதவற்குரைத்தலுங்காண்டலுங்கடுக் கும். It is as if a blind man saw a thing which a dumb man told him to look at. கடுவரைநீரிற்கடுத்துவரக்கண்டு. Seeing it coming as rapidly as the impetuous mountain torrent-- (வெண்பாமாலை.) கடுத்துப்பேச, inf. To speak harshly. கடுப்ப, inf. Used as a particle of comparison--as பிள்ளைகடுப்பப்பிணம்பிறங்க, the bodies (of those who fell in battle) appeared (to move their dying limbs) like infants. (வெண்பா.) கடுத்தல், v. noun. Doubt, ஐயம். 2. Wrath, கோபம். 3. Vehemence, வேகம். 4. Comparison, உவமை. (p.) கடுப்பு, v. noun. Pains, throbbing, throe, எரிவு. 2. Anger, displeasure, impatience, peevishness, சினம். 3. Speed, rapidity, impetuosity, great haste, வேகம். அவருடையகடுப்பெல்லாமாறிப்போயிற்று. His peevish arrogance is now all gone (his means being reduced). கடுப்பிறக்குதல், v. noun. Reducing one's pride, arrogance. கடுப்புக்கழிச்சல், s. A painful dysentery. கடுப்புச்சூடு, v. noun. Cauterizing oxen after castrating as a counteroperation to promote healing. கடுப்பெடுத்தல், v. noun. Being in pain, aching. 2. Reducing one's pride, arrogance. வாதக்கடுப்பு, s. Rheumatic pains in the limbs. நீர்க்கடுப்பு, s. Dysury, strangury. மூலக்கடுப்பு, s. Dysentery, tenesmus. வயிற்றுக்கடுப்பு, s. Griping of the bowels. மனக்கடுப்பு, s. Indignation, resentment. 72)

This cloth is narrow. இதுமுழக்கட்டையானசீலை. This cloth is deficient in length and breadth. அந்தமரத்திற்கிந்தமரங்கட்டை. This piece of timber is shorter than that. கல்வியிலவன்கட்டை. [prov.] He is deficient in learning. கட்டைகடாவ, inf. To fasten a splinter or pointed stick, &c. கட்டைக்காலி, s. [prov. vul.] A bear, கரடி--as short legged--and sometimes applied to women, cows, &c. கட்டைக்குரல், s. [prov.] A weak voice, கம்மினகுரல். கட்டைக்குருத்து, s. [prov.] The last tender leaf of a plantain which envelopes the sheath or blossom and shoots out a little before it. கட்டைநெருப்பு, s. Coal fire. கட்டைப்புத்தி, s. Shallow wit, weak intellect, stupidity, தடிப்புத்தி. கட்டையடிக்க, inf. To pass a stick through a plucked jack-fruit to ripen it, ஆப்படிக்க. 2. To hurt the foot against a stump by striking on it, காலிற்கட்டையிடற. 3. To drive a stake into the ground to tie animals to, முளைகடாவ. கட்டையன், s. (fem. கட்டைச்சி.) The letter which you have despatched. (Besch.) சொல்லிக்காட்ட, inf. To explain, relate. தன்னைக்காட்ட, inf. To make one's self known, to make one's character, ability, &c. appear where he is unknown, &c. 2. To make a display. 3. To show one's character, &c., by outward conduct. சத்தங்காட்ட, inf. To cry aloud. தூபங்காட்ட, inf. To burn incence. தண்ணீர்காட்ட, inf. To water sheep, horses, &c. காட்டல், v. noun. Manifestation. 2. Act of showing or pointing. சுட்டல். காட்டில்--காட்டிலும். (with a noun.) Than. 2. (with an infinitive.) As soon as, the moment before, the very instant. பொழுதுபோகுங்காட்டிலும்நித்திரையென்ன... Why do you go to sleep as soon as the sun sets? அதைக்காட்டிலுமிதுசிறப்பு. This is more beautiful than that. நான்கொடுக்குங்காட்டிலுமெடுத்தெறிந்துபோடுகி றான். [vul.] No sooner had I given it to him than he took and threw it away. அவன்போங்காட்டில். [in கோயிற்புராணம்.] As soon as he had gone. விடியுங்காட்டிலும். Under, below, beneath. கீழாயிருக்க, inf. To be below, to be mean, to be inferior. கீழாலவத்தை, s. 'Descending states of the soul.' State and degree of consciousness, commencing with objective sensations and descending to subjective feeling and contemplation, the mind receding farther and farther from objective impressions and associations. Hindu physiologists fancy that the mind descends from its seat in the forehead to its other seats, the neck, breast, umbilicus and terminus rectum. (தத்துவக். சிவ. சி.) கீழிருக்க, inf. To lie under, to be under one's dominion or control. கீழாறு, s. A river under ground, பூமி யினுள்ளோடுமாறு. 2. A river in the Congu country, கொங்குதேசத்தாறு. கீழாறுகொண்டுபோயிற்று. The under ground river has carried it away--said of things lost without knowing how. கீழுக்குப்போக, inf. To be diminishes, to be reduced. அவன்புத்தியுங்கல்வியும்வரவரக்கீழுக்குப்போகி றது. His understanding and knowledge are more and more diminishing. கீழோங்கி, s. [prov.] An inferior class or fishermen--as distinguished from மே லோங்கி, a higher rank. கீழ்நோக்க, inf. To look downward, to tend downward, கீழ்ப்பார்க்க. 2. To be sensual, grovelling, to tend toward secularities, இழிவானதைவிரும்ப. 3. To be on the decline--as to wealth, &c.; to go to ruin, to come to naught, தாழ்வடைய. கீழ்நோக்கித்திட்ட--கீழ்நோக்கியேச inf. To use obscene language, to assail with very indecent speech. கீழ்நோக்கு--கீழ்நோக்கம் v. noun. Looking downward, downward tendency, கீழ்ப்பார்வை. 2. Low or grovelling pursuits, a base inclination; underhand, clandestine purpose. கீழ்மேலாக, adv. Upside down. கீழ்ப்பட, inf. To be subdued, to yield, to be submissive, to become inferior, கீழ்ப்படிய. 2. To be subject, to be subordinate, to submit to, அடங்க. 3. To be degraded, mean, base, இழிவுபட. கீழ்ப்படிய--கீழ்ப்பணிய inf. To submit, to yield, to obey. கீழ்ப்படியாத்தனம்--கீழ்ப்படியாமை, s. Disobedience, insubordination. கீழ்ப்படிவு, v. noun. Submission, obedience, subordination, subjection, கீழ்ப்ப ணிவு. 2. Docility, tractableness, அமைவு. கீழ்ப்படுத்த--கீழ்ப்படியப்பண்ண, inf. To subdue, to subject, to subordinate, to subjugate, to quell, அடக்க. 2. To lower, to bring down, to reduce, தாழ்வுபடு த்த. 3. To degrade, ஈனப்படுத்த. கீழ்நோக்கினநட்சத்திரம், s. [in astro.] A lunar mansion looking downward-opposed to மேனோக்கினநட்சத்திரம். They are twelve in number. (உள்ளமு.) கீழ்நோக்கினராசி, s. [in astrol.] A zodiacal sign which looks downward.-Note. These signs, as well as the கீழ்நோக் கினநட்சத்திரம், are favorable for planting esculent roots and digging wells. கீழ்மேற்றென்வடல், s. The east, west, north and south. 42)
