kōẕi (p. 151) s. The gallinaceous fowl whether cock or hen--especially the hen, குக்குடம். 2. The name of the capital of Chola, from the story of a cock there at tacking an elephant, உறையூர். கருங்கோழி--கானாங்கோழி--கின்னிக்கோழி--சம் பங்கோழி--வான்கோழி, are different kinds of fowls; which see. கோழிக்கரணம், s. One of the eleven astrological கரணம், named பத்திரவம். See கரணம். கோழிக்கல்--கோழியீரற்கல், s. [loc.] A stone used polishing iron, குறிஞ்சிக்கல். கோழிக்காரம், s. A medicine in which fowl--dung is used; also, a medicinal broth from boiled fowl. 2. [prov.] Fowl-dung used in manuring soil for the கஞ்சா plants; [ex காரம், stimulant.] கோழிக்காரன், s. A chicken. கோழிக்குடாப்பு, s. As கோழிக்கூடு. 1. கோழிகூவல், v. noun. Crowing of a cock. கோழிக்கூடு, s. A hen-coop, a fowlhouse. 2. The town of Calicut. கோழிக்கூட்டுப்பழம், s. [prov.] A species of plantain fruit. கோழிக்கொடி, s. As கோழியவரை. (Little used.) 2. The banner of Skanda, on which the figure of a cock is drawn. கோழிக்கொடியோன், s. Skanda whose banner is a cock, முருகன். 2. (திவா.) Ayanar. கோழிக்கொண்டை--கோழிச்சூடன், s. [prov.] A plant with a red flower called the cox-comb, Celosia cristata. கோழிச்சாறு--கோழியாணம், s. Fowlbroth; soup. கோழிச்சேவல், s. [Sometimes கோழிச் சாவல்.] A cock. கோழிப்பறவை, v. noun. [prov.] A short distance, (lit.) the flight of a fowl. கோழிப்புடம், s. A mode of sublimating medicines--as குக்குடபுடம். கோழிமுட்டை, s. Hens's eggs. கோழிமுட்டைத்தயிலம், s. A medicinal oil extracted from fowl eggs used in cases of fits, spasms, &c. கோழிவேந்தன், s. Any king of the Chola dynasty who ruled at Kozhi, சோழன். அறுபதாங்கோழி, s. [loc.] A hen laying eggs every two months. காட்டுக்கோழி, s. A jungle fowl, a wild hen. 43)

neruppu (p. 280) s. Fair, தழல். 2. Caloric; principle of fire in the animal system, &c., as தீ, which see. 3. (fig.) Great grief, envy, jealously, rage, fury, &c. நெருப்புநின்றகாட்டிலேதாவதிருந்தாலும்நீர்நின்றகா ட்டிலொன்றுமிராது. Though something may survive a forest conflagration, nothing will remain after a forest inundation; i. e. water is more destructive than fire. நெருப்பெழக்காய்ச்சினான். He heated it hot. பெருநெருப்புக்கீரமில்லை. A great fire is not put out by a little moisture. அவன்நெருப்பு. He is fiery man. வயிற்றிலேநெருப்பாயெரிகிறது. To set on fire. நெருப்பின்சிகை, s. Flame of fire. நெருப்புக்கட்டை, s. A large fire-brand, a log of fire. நெருப்புக்கண், s. Envious eye. 2. The evil eye. 3. A fiery, malicious, furious eye. 4. See under சாணை. நெருப்புத்தணல், s. Live coals. நெருப்புத்தண்ணீர்--நெருப்புத்திராவ கம், s. [com. அக்கினித்திராவகம், which see.] Aqua fortis, or nitric acid. நெருப்புத்தூண், s. A column of fire. நெருப்புப்படுதல், v. noun. Being consumed with drought, கடுங்கோடையாதல். 2. (fig.) Suffering oppression, injury, &c., as a village, or country, from a ruler of head man, அமளியாதல். 3. Being destroyed by divine retribution, as the possessions of a wicked man, தேவதண்டனைஅடைதல். 4. Being destroyed, அழிவடைதல், the language of imprecation. நெருப்புப்பற்ற--நெருப்புப்பிடிக்க, To catch fire, ignite. 2. As தீப்பற்ற. நெருப்புப்பற்றவைக்க--நெருப்புமூட்ட --நெருப்புவளர்க்க, inf. A fiery rain, at the universal deluge of fire, from one of the seven classes of clouds. See முகில். நெருப்புமழைபெய்தல், v. noun. Raining fire. 2. (fig.) Acting unjustly, as a government, a head-man, &c., often used as a curse. நெருப்புமூள, inf. To be kindled as fire, to rage as fire. நெருப்புவிழுங்குகோழி--நெருப்புக்கோ ழி. s. An ostrich. See தீக்குருவி. 2. (Beschi.) A turkey-cock, from its red throat, வான்கோழிச்சேவல். நெருப்புவிழுதல், v. noun. Being destroyed by unjust means, or by drought and famine. 2. Falling or being struck out, as sparks from a grind-stone, a flint, &c. 3. Being discomfited, disheartened. 4. As தீவிழ. நெருப்புவீச, inf. To throw about fire, met. To be hasty in a new affair. pāvi (p. 313) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To imagine, to conceive, பாவனைசெய்ய. 2. To imitate, to represent, to personify, to personate, சாயல்காட்ட 3. To treat or act toward one well or ill, as if he were another character; to use or regard a thing as something else, பொய்யாய்நடிக்க. 4. To suppose, to fancy, to feign, to assume, எண்ண. 5. To form or contemplate a mental image of the deity, கடவுளுருவைத்தி யானிக்க-- The compounds in common use are கனமாகப்பாவிக்க, to treat one honorably; நீசமாகப்பாவிக்க, to treat one contumeliously; சுகமாகப்பாவிக்க, to fancy one's self well, when sick; உண்டுபாவிக்க, to confirm a lie; கண்டு பாவிக்க, to imitate; and form an image in the mind. கானமயிலாடக்கண்டிருந்தவான்கோழிதானுமதுவாகப் பாவிக்கும். The turkey seeing the peacock's gait may strut and imitate it. பாவிப்பு, v. noun. Conceiving, imitating, feigning, contemplating, &c., as the verb. 37)
