vāẕai (p. 386) s. Plantain tree, Musa paradisiaca--Note. Of வாழை are different varieties, இரசதாளிவாழை or commonly ரஸ்தாளி, that producing fruit of a sweet flavor; கதலிவாழை, another variety; கருவாழை, a black kind; கொட்டைவாழை, a plantain having seeds; செவ்வாழை, a red kind; பே யன்வாழை, an inferior kind, but medicinal; மொந்தன்வாழை, a large variety, ஆனைவாழை, உதிரிவாழை, மருத்துவவாழை, &c., are other varieties; பூவாழை and கானாவாழை are different plants, which see. வாழைக்கட்டை, s. The large bulbous root of the plantain tree. வாழைக்காய், s. An unripe plantain. வாழைக்குலை, s. An entire cluster of plantains. வாழைச்சீப்பு, s. A comb of plantains. வாழைத்தண்டு, s.
