உரு
uru (p. 65) s. Form, appearance, shape, figure, fashion, வடிவு. 2. Beauty, அழகு. 3. Body, உடல். 4. Appearance, an indistinct object, தோற்றம். 5. Image, idol, statue, விக்கிரகம். 6. A vessel, a dhoney, a ship, &c., கப்பல். 7. An article, a piece, different things counted, உருப்படி. 8. A course of recitation of prayers, incantations, &c., செபத்தினுரு. 9. To become shaped, &c.--as the fetus when advancing towards maturity, வடிவங்கொள்ள. உருநாட்டு, s. [prov.] An idol, statue, விக்கிரகம்; [ex நாட்டு.] உருப்பட, inf. To be formed, shaped, உருவாக. 2. To prosper, rise to eminence, சீர்ப்பட. உருப்படி, s. A piece, any article counted. இங்கேநாற்பதுஉருப்படிசீலையிருக்கிறது. Here are forty pieces of cloth. பத்துருப்படி. Ten things, articles, utensils. உருப்படுத்த, inf. To form in the womb, கருவிலுருவாக்க. 2. To mould, shape, to form--as the work of a smith, a mason, &c., உருவாக்க. உருப்போட, inf. To reiterate incantations for expelling a disease, poison, &c. 2. To repeat or rehearse a lesson frequently, in order to learn it by heart. உருமாற, s. To change one's shape, metamorphose one's self as the Rishis are reputed to do, வேற்றுருக்கொ ள்ள. 2. To become changed in countenance--as by disease, &c., சரீரம்வேறுபட. உருவழிய, inf. To become disfigured by disease, to become deformed. உருவாக, inf. To obtain form, shape, &c., வடிவமாக. உருவாக்க, inf. To form, shape, fashion, make, mould--as the work of a smith or mason, உருச்செய்ய. 2. To repair, complete, சீர்ப்படுத்த. உருவிலி, s. Kama, காமன். (p.) உருவில்லாதது, s. A thing without form or shape, without beauty. உருவிழக்க, inf. To lose one's proper appearance, become changed in shape, color, &c., வடிவமிழக்க. உருவுவமம், s. [in rhetoric.] A kind of comparison from analogy--as when a ship at sea is compared to an elephant in an army, வடிவுவமை. உருவெடுக்க, inf. To become formed, conceived in the womb, (lit.) to take a body or form--as the soul according to the deeds of former births, வடிவெடுக்க. 2. To assume a shape--as in transmigrations, incarnations, and transient appearances of a deity, &c., வேஷங்கொள்ள. உருவெளி, s. An imaginary appearance of a person, or other objects, a visionary object, an illusion, chiefly applied to the supposed sight of an absent lover, உருவெளித்தோற்றம். (p.) உருவெளிக்காட்சி--உருவெளித் தோற்றம்--உருவெளிப்பாடு, s. The imaginary appearance of an absent lover. See above. உருவெளிப்பட, inf. To appear-as a visionary object, உருவம்வெள்ளிடை யிற்றோன்ற. உருவேற, inf. To rise or increase in numbers--as the repetition of prayers or incantations, மந்திரவுருவதிகரிக்க. 2. To be possessed of a demon for the utterance of oracles, ஆவேசமேற. 3. (fig.) To become furious, to fall into a fit, மூர்க்கமதிகரிக்க. உருவேறத்திருவேறும். Divine power will be acquired in proportion to the reiteration of the incantations. உருவேற்படுத்த, inf. To form, to fashion, உருவமுண்டாக்க. உருவேற்ற, inf. eẕu (p. 75) கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், எழ, v. n. To rise, ascend, get up, rise by one's own power, to rise as a thing by its own levity, rise as a heavenly body, a bird, a kite, &c., to soar, &c., எழும்ப. 2. To stir, be excited, roused, &c., மனங்கிளர. 3. To become resuscitated, rise to life, உயிரடைந்தெழும்ப. 4. To rise to eminence, தலைமைப்பட. 5. To rise and spread as a rumor, பரம்ப. 6. To rise as wind, clouds, &c., கிளம்ப. 7. To rise as a sound, singing, talking, clamor, &c., ஆரவாரமெழ. 8. To rise as a tree, grow larger, swell, to expand as breasts, increase in stature, rise as a building, shoot, sprout, spring up, உயர. 9. To happen, occur, arise, come on, சம்பவிக்க. 1. To become instrumental to, ஏதுவாக. 11. To remove from a dwelling, lodging, village, &c., குடியெழும்ப. 12. To rise in price, விலையேற. அவனுக்குக்கையெழவில்லை. My tongue will not stir (rise) to speak so. கூரேயிறெழாதகுழவி. A babe that has not yet teethed. எழுஞாயிறு, s. The rising sun, உதயாதித்தன். 2. Quinsy, a mortal disease which begins with the rising sun; when it begins in the night it is termed படுஞாயிறு. (Mat. Ind. Opp.) எழுந்தபடி--எழுந்தமானம், s. At random, in an unpremeditated manner, carelessly, மனதிலேதோன்றியபடி. எழுந்தருள, inf. To rise, become present or manifest as the divinity in an idol on consecration; to be present as a great personage, &c., தோன்ற. 2. To repair to a place--as a sage, holy person, a king, &c., பெரியோர்வர. எழுந்தருளுநாயகர்--எழுந்தருளும் விக்கிரகம், s. The secondary idol in a temple, உச்சவவிக்கிரகம், representing the same deity as the first, carried about in processions while the other remains stationary--opp. to the மூலவிக்கிரகம். எழுந்தருள்படி, s. A procession of heathen gods. எழுந்திருக்க, inf. To rise, ascend, get up, &c., எழ, spoken chiefly of men. --Note. This is more full and expressive than எழ, alone. எழுந்துபோக, inf. To depart, to go to meet a person. எழுந்தேற்றம், s. A Roman catholic procession, உற்சவம். 2. Pride, selfconsequence, arrogance, பெருமை. 3. Rashness, presumptuousness, துணிவு. எழுமுகனை, s. The very beginning of a process, or period, தொடக்கம். எழுவான், s. The east, the place of sun-rising, oriens, கிழக்கு, eastern--opp. to படுவான். எழுவான்றொடங்கிப்படுவான்மட்டும். From east to west. என்வீட்டக்கெழுவானிலே. East of my house. எழல்--எழுகை, v. noun. Rising, ascent, எழுச்சி. எழுச்சி, v. noun. Rising, ascent, elevation, எழும்புகை. 2. Stir, excitement, activity, readiness, promptitude, முயற்சி. 3. Haughtiness, aspiring, ambition, resolution, இறுமாப்பு. 4. A disease, or soreness of the ears, காதிலெழும்புமோர்புண். 5. Inflammation of the eyes, கண்ணோயி லொன்று. எழுச்சிக்கொடி, s. Inflammation of the eyes causing red streaks, கண்ணிற் படருமோர்நோய். எழச்சிபாடுவோன், s. One who sings to rouse a prince, or a great man of a morning. துயிலெழுப்புதல்பாடுவோன். எழுச்சிமுரசம், s. A drum beaten to rouse a king, commandant, garrison, &c. of a morning, துயிலெழுப்புமுரசம். எழுச்சியிலை, s. A leaf to cure ophthalmia, கண்ணோய்மருந்திலை. படையெழுச்சி, s. A military expedition, marching to battle. பள்ளியெழுச்சி, s. A kind of poem sung to rouse princess, &c. from sleep. மேலெழுச்சி--மேலெழுந்தவாரி, [prov.] Superficiality. மேலெழுச்சியாய்ப்பேச, inf. To speak carelessly. மனவெழுச்சி, v. noun. Energy, persevering application. எழுமை, v. noun. Height, elevation, உயர்ச்சி. 11)
சந்தி
canti (p. 159) s. A joining, junction, meeting, union, combination, இசைப்பு. 2. The meeting or junction of two or more roads, rivers, &c., or the place of such meeting, சந்திக்குமிடம். 3. The joining of words, and the changes of letters by elision, reduplication, and substitution in the coalescence of words with each other, or in the addition to a word of particles expressing case, or in the formation of derivatives from a primitive, விகுதிமுதலிய வற்றின்புணர்ச்சி. 4. The intervals of morning and evening twilight, especially the latter, regarded as the union of the day and night, மாலைநேரம்; thus அந்திசந்தி, morning and evening. (c.) 5. A period at the expiration of each yuga, connecting it with the following, and occupying 1/12 of each, during which a gradual change takes place in the world, introductory to the peculiarities of the succeeding yuga; also a period of the same length, as the Satya yuga at the end of each Manvantara and of each Kalpa, யுகசந்தி. W. p. 889. SANDHI. 6. Reconciliation, pacification, forming friendship, நட்பாதல். 7. The bamboo, so called from its knots, மூங்கில். 8. The stated worship for each individual, morning and evening, and with some in mid-day, சந்தியாவந்தனம். (p.) 9. Division of time in a day, especially meal time--as ஒருசந்தி, one meal, it being fast-day. (c.) 1. [loc.] Juncture, crisis, a critical point of time, தறுவாய். சந்திகாவலன், s. [prov.] As அந்திகாவ லன், which see. சந்திக்கரை, s. The place where several roads or rivers meet. (c.) சந்திபண்ண--சந்திமுடிக்க, inf. To perform he daily private worship, morning, noon and evening. (p.) சந்திப்பாடு, v. noun. A mishap supposed to be caused by a malignant spirit in a cross way, or other haunted place. சந்திமறிக்க, inf. [loc.] to avert the displeasure of malignant divinities, in time of epidemics, by presenting them cooling offerings at cross roads, and thus to stop their progress into the country. சந்திமிதிக்க, inf. [prov.] To pass across way at an auspicious time, as after recovering from sickness, especially from the small pox, on first going out. சந்திமிதிப்பிக்க, inf. To cause a child to walk the first time on the 6th month in places where two or more ways meet. சந்தியாகாலம், s. The period of evening twilight, மாலைநேரம். 2. The three seasons of stated worship. (See சந்தி.) 3. The interval between one yuga and another, யுகசந்தி; [ex Sa. Sandhya.] W. p. 89. சந்தியாகாலகருமம், s. Evening devotion. (R.) சந்தியாராகம், s. The redness of the sky at sun-set. (R.) சந்தியாவந்தனம்--சந்தியாவந்தனை, s. [prov. சந்திவந்தனை.] Worship at any of the three stated periods; [ex வந்தனை, worship.] சந்தியிலிருக்க, inf. [prov.] To be ruined, to be driven into the street. சந்தியில்வைக்க, inf. To ruin a person, (lit.) to drive him into the streets. சந்திவிக்கிரகம், s. Forming a friendship with enemies to compass their ruin; one of the modes recommended for dealing with enemies. (p.) சந்தியிற்கொண்டுவர, inf. [prov. fig.] To expose a person to ridicule and shame (lit.) to bring to the street. முச்சந்தி, s. The meeting of three roads. நாற்சந்தி, s. The meeting of four roads or streets. சொற்சந்தி, s. One word combining with another in sense. சந்திவழு, s. Impropriety in the use of grammatical sandhi. The three grammatical sandhis as applied to words of Sanscrit origin are, 1. தீர்க்கசந்தி. 2. குண சந்தி. 3. விருத்திசந்தி. To these a fourth, ஆ திவிருத்திசந்தி is added. (நன்.) சந்திகாரியம், s. சிலா
cilā (p. 186) s. A stone, a rock, கல். Sa. Sila.--Note. The word retains its Sanscrit pronunciation in the compounds. The Tamil word from this is சிலை, which see. சிலாசாதனம், s. An engraving on stone. See சாதனம். சிலாதலம், s. A stony surface, பாறை. 2. Stone seats, கல்பரப்பியவிடம். சிலாநதி, s. Name of a river, (lit.) a stony river, ஓர்நதி. சிலாவங்கம், s. A kind of stone, or one containing lead, ஈயக்கல். சிலாவட்டம், s. A hone, a grind-stone, சாணைக்கல். (சது.) சிலாவருடம்--சிலாவருஷம், s. Showers, or tempests of stones, கன்மழை. 2. One of the seven-fold classes of clouds to be employed for the destruction of the universe, at the general delugé. See முகில். சிலாவிக்கிரகம், s. A stone-idol. 34)

cilai (p. 186) s. A stone, a rock, கல். W. p. 845. S'ILA. 2. A hill, a mountain, மலை. (சது.) 3. The stationary or fixed idol of a temple, commonly of stone, not removed for processions, bathings, &c., for which another is kept, மூலவிக்கிரகம். (See எழுந்தரு ளுநாயகர்.) 3. A kind of native arsenic, மனோ சிலை. 4. Another kind of arsenic, சூதபா ஷாணம்.--Note. This word is commonly, but improperly, used for an idol of any materials whatever. சிலைச்சோணிதம்--சிலைத்தீட்டு--சிலைநஞ் சு--சிலையிரத்தம்--சிலையொழுக்கு, s. A mineral, alumen plumosum; a kind of கன்மதம். சிலைநிறுத்த, inf. To set up a statue. சிலைநாட்ட, inf. To erect and fix up a statue. சிலைத்தாசி, s. The sâlagrama, a sacred stone. See சாலக்கிராமம். சிலைத்தாது, s. A kind of native arsenic, சிலாமதபாஷாணம். சிலைநாகம், s. One of one-hundred and twenty minerals, சூடாலைக்கல். Compare சிலாநாகம். சிலைநிறக்கல், s. A kind of black stone, மாமிசச்சிலை. சிலையடித்துவைக்க, inf. To carve and set up a stone for an image. சிலையோட, inf. To echo--as rocks, எதிரொலிக்க. சிலையாவி--சிலைவிந்து, s. Asbestos, கல் நார். சிலைவைரம், s. Diamond, வைரக்கல். 77)

corūpam (p. 212) s. W. p. 963. SVAROOPA. Exact likeness, resemblance, சாயல். 2. From, shape, வடிவம். 3. An image, விக்கிரகம். 4. Handsomeness, அழகு. (Compare சுரூபம்.) 5. Mode of existence, natural state; nature of the deity, &c., பாவனை.--Note. This word is adopted in the Athanasian creed for person, in the deity--hypostasis. வேதசொரூபத்திலேநின்றுநான்பிறந்தேன். I was born from the shape (real personification) of the unwritten Vedas. சிற்சொரூபம், s. God--as possessing wisdom. See சித்து. சொரூபசாரம், s. The name of a shastra, ஓர்சைவநூல். சொரூபசுபாவம், s. Nature, attributes, or manifestations of deity. சொரூபஞானம், s. Divine Knowledge, real wisdom, knowledge of deity or of the soul, as obtained by devine aid, and distinguished from விடயஞானம், or knowledge derived by means of the senses. சொரூபன், s. The Deity, He who has spiritual form or existence, கடவுள்.-Note. The meaning is commonly determined by a prefix, as அருட்சொரூபன், he whose very shape is grace. சொரூபானந்தம், s. Perfect felicity. (தாயுமானார்.) சொரூபானந்தர், s. (Hon.) A celebrated wise man, ஓர்யோகி. 2) *
தங்கம்
tngkm (p. 221) s. (probably a corrupted use of Sa. Tanka.) A weight, used for gold and silver, fine or pure gold, மாற்றுயர்ந் தபொன். (c.) தங்கமானநிலம். Rich soil. 2. Clean ground, floor, &c. 3. Ground, &c., ceremonially pure. தங்கமானநெல்லு. Very nice paddy--spoken in praise. தங்கமானபிள்ளை. A very dear, beautiful or promising child, a very amiable, good child. தங்கமானகுணம் An excellent disposition. தங்கக்கம்பிபோலே. Like gold wire; i. e. a tall, handsome person of good size; fair and not corpulent. தங்கவிக்கிரகம்போலே. Like a golden statue; i. e. one of good colour, proportions, &c. தங்கமே! An expression of endearment. தங்கமானவன். A generous person, an excellent man. தங்கத்துக்கழிவில்லை. Pure gold will never wear away by the lapse of time. பத்தரைமாத்துத்தங்கம். Gold of the highest quality, a hyperbolical or fancied quality, the best gold known being only of the tenth degree. தங்கத்தைஉருக்கிவிட்டதுபோல. Shining in complexion, &c., as refined gold. தங்கக்கட்டி, s. Mass of gold. 2. (fig.) A very dear, beautiful child. தங்கக்காசு, s. Gold coin. தங்கக்காப்பு, s. Golden bracelets. தங்கக்காறு, s. Gold in bars. தங்கக்குடம், s. Gold pot set on the tops of temples. 2. As பொன்குடம். தங்கச்சிந்தூரம், s. As தங்கமிருதியாதி. தங்கத்தகடு, s. Gold plate. தங்கத்தாம்பாளம், s. A plate of gold. தங்கபஸ்பம், s. Medicinal powder of gold--called ashes of gold. தங்கப்பாளம், s. A flat piece or ingot of gold. தங்கப்புகைக்காட்ட, inf. To gild. தங்கப்பூச்சு, v. noun. Gilding, gilt. தங்கமலாம்--தங்கமுலாம், s. Gilt, gilding. See முலாம். தங்கமழுத்த--தங்கமிட--தங்கமிழைக்க, inf. To lay gold, to mount or set with gold. தங்கமிருதியாதி, s. [prov.] A kind of powder said to be of gold. தங்கம்பூச, inf. To gild. தங்கரேக்கு, s. Gold leaf. தங்கவராகன், s. A pagoda, a goldcoin. தங்கவரைஞாண், s. A waist cord of gold. தங்கவேலை, s. Setting precious stones, &c., in pure gold. புடமிட்டதங்கம், s. Refined gold. வடிதங்கம், s. [prov.] Pure gold. 2. The best of its kind, excellent, superior, 3. Well recovered, as from sickness; healthy, cured of cutaneous diseases, &c. 19)

tirumāl (p. 240) s. Vishnu, as lord of illusion, in the universe, விட்டுணு; [ex மால், illusion.] திருமாலவதாரம், 1. Ten incarnations of Vishnu. 1. Matsya, மச்சம், a fish assumed to kill சோமுகன், an Asura who had stolen the Vedas and hidden them in the sea. 2. Kurma, கூர்மம். tortoise, assumed to support Mount Mandara, used as a churning stick in churning the sea of milk to obtain Amrita, or nectar. 3. Varáha, வராகம், a boar, assumed to open and spread out the earth which இரணியாக்கன் had rolled up, as a scroll, and sunk in the ocean; and to kill him. 4. Narasingha, நரசிங்கம், manlion, assumed to destroy இரணியகசிபன், the younger brother of இரணியாக்கன், who, to avenge the death of his brother, had abolished the worship of Vishnu.--Note. These four were assumed without parents. 5. Váhmana, வாமனம், the dwarf born of காசிபன் and அதிதி to overcome மாபலி by deceit, coming to him as a beggar. 6. Parasurama, பரசுராமன், or the axe bearing Rama, born of சமதக்கினி and இரேணுகை to kill the Kshtriyas who oppressed the brahmans. 7. Ramachandra, இராமன், king of Ayodhya, born of தசரதன் and கோசலை, to kill Ravana, king of Lanka, and other Rakshasas. 8. Balab'hadra, பலபத் திரன், half brother of krishna; his father's name was வசுதேவன், and he had two mothers, தேவகி and உரோகணி. He come to destroy பிரலம்பன் and his Rakshasas. 9. Krishna, கண்ணன், son of வசு தேவன் and தேவகி, came to excite the wars of the Bharata, and to relieve the earth of its over-burdened population. 1. The horse, கற்கி, yet future, and for the purpose of destroying the universe.--Note. The poet Jayadeva places Krishna as the eighth and makes the ninth, Buddha. Another class of fifteen incarnations of Vishnu is given. 1. சனகன், Sanaka. 2. சனந்தனன், Sanandana. 3. சனாதன், Sanáta. 4. சனற்குமாரன், Sanatkumara. Rishis regarded as representatives of Brahma and celebrated in the Bagavata. 5. நரநாராயணன், Naranarayana, a great personage mentioned in the Maha B'harata. 6. கபிலன், Capila, founder of the Sank'hya philosophy. 7. இடபன், Vrishab'ha-Yogi, the first of the twenty-four Jaina saints. 8. நாரதன், Nárada,, inventor of the lute, messenger of the gods, and first of the ten principal Munis. 9. அயக்கிரீவன் ((lit.) the horse-headed), Hayagriva, of the Maha Bharata, to be distinguished from the Asura of the same name. 1. தத்தாத்திரேயன், Dattatreya, mentioned in Bagavata. 11. மோகினி, Mohini, a fascinating female. (See மோ கினி.) 12. யாகபதி, Yágapati, the lord of sacrifices, always receiving the first of the offerings. 13. வியாதன், Vyasa, son of Parásara, arranger of the Vedas. 14. தன்வந்தரி, D'hanvantari, a physician of the gods. (See தன்வந்தரி.) 15. பௌத் தன், Budha, the head of the Buddhist system; by some considered the ninth principal Avatar. திருமாலாயுதம், 5, s. The five weapons of Vishnu. 1. சங்கம் or பாஞ்சசன்னியம், chank; 2. சக்கரம் or சுதரிசனம், a wheellike missile; 3. தனுசு or சாரங்கம், bow. 4. வாள் or நாந்தகம், sword; 5. தண்டு or கௌமோதகி, club.--Note. These are pictured on a metal plate, and worn on the neck as an ornament, or amulet, by children, which is called பஞ்சாயுதம். திருமாலுந்தி, s. The five deities, or forms of deity performing operations for the benefit of souls. 1. பிரமா, creator, or evolver of the universe; 2. விட்டுணு, preserver, who furnishes each soul with its allotted portion of jois, and sorrows, as the results of former actions; 3. உருத்திரன், destroyer, reducing souls and worlds to their primitive elements; 4. மகேசுரன், obscurer, darkening the understanding, that the soul may act, and work off its accumulation of moral evil, so as to become ripe for salvation; 5. சதாசிவன், enlightener of illuminator, who imparts divine grace, and prepares the soul for emancipation, and union with the deity. A kind of vessel of five plates collectively, or made of five metals, used by advanced religionists, to hold water for purification, பஞ்சலோக பாத்திரம். 2. (R.) It is of two kinds, அரசிலைப்பஞ்சாயுதம், one made in the form of fig-leaf; வட்டப்பஞ்சாயுதம், one in a circular form, ஓராபரணம். பஞ்சாயுதபாணி-பஞ்சாயுதன், s. Vishnu, as bearing the five weapons. பஞ்சார்க்கம், s. Reflection as from water, a looking glass, &c., பிரதிபிம்பம். பிரதிசிகுவை, s. The uvula, உண்ணாக்கு. பிரதிசூரியன், s. A mock-sun, a sundog, சூரியப்பிரதிபிம்பம். பிரதிச்சீட்டு, s. A bond given in return. 2. A copy of a bond. பிரதிட்டை--பிரதிஷ்டை, s. Consecration, dedication, by which a god is supposed to be brought into an image, ஆவாகனம். See பிராணப்பிரதிஷ்டை. (c.) 2. There are different kinds of பிரதிஷ்டை, of a linga, as தே வப்பிரதிஷ்டை, cousecration by a deity; 2. ஆரிஷப்பிரதிஷ்டை, by a Rishi; 3. நரப் பிரதிஷ்டை, by an ordinary man. பிரதிஷ்டைபண்ண--பிரதிஷ்டையாக்க, inf. To consecrate, devote, dedicate. பிரதிதானம்--பிரதியுபகாரம், s. Remuneration, benefits in return for favors received; return of a deposit, கைம்மாறு. 2. Gifts given in expectation of a return, எதிர்க்கொடை. பிரதிதினம், s. Day by day நாளுக்குநாள். பிரதிதுரை, s. [Tel.] A deputy governor, உதவித்தலைவன். பிரதிநிசம்--பிரதிராத்திரம், s. Night by night, இரவோடிரா; [ex நிசம்=நிசி.] பிரதிபட்சன், s. An opponent, an antagonist, எதிரி. பிரதிபதம், s. A synonyme, பரியாயச் சொல். பிரதிபத்தி, s. Great confidence, in one whose good will has been experienced, மிகநம்பிக்கை. பிரதிபந்தகம்--பிரதிபந்தம், s. Obstacle, impediment, தடை. பிரதிபாதிக்க, inf. To determine, to define, to conclude. (Rare.) பிரதிபாலனம், s. Guard, protection, as பரிபாலனம், காப்பு. பிரதிபிம்பம், s. As பிரதிவிம்பம். பிரதிபோதம், s. Instruction, teaching, கற்பிப்பு. பிரதிமண்டலம், s. Circumference, சுற் றளவு. 2. An eccentric orbit. பிரதிமூர்த்தி, s. A likeness, image, resemblance, picture, தோற்றம். 2. Representation, பாவனை. 3. A transcript, பெ யர்த்தெழுதுகை. பிரதிமை, s. Resemblance, or counterpart of real form--as a picture, image, shadow, reflection. பிரதிவிம்பர், s. [pl.] Reflectors, representatives, as the evolve, or secondary forms of the deity, உபதேவர். பிரதிவிம்பிக்க, inf. To be reflected, as images in a mirror, to be cast as a shadow, to be presented as the counterpart of real forms, to appear as the deity in any of the forms assumed as creator, preserver, &c., பிரதிபலிக்க. 29) *

The first region of the human body. See மூலாதாரம்.--Note. Of the piles are, இரத்தமூலம், bleeding piles; உள்மூலம். Tenesmus; சீமூலம், piles attended with discharge of matter; புறமூலம்--வெளிமூலம், external hemorrhoid; வறள்மூலம், costiveness. அவன்மூலமாய். By his means. இவனேயதுக்குமூலம். He is the cause of it. பணமேயகங்காரமூலம். Money is the root of pride. அஷ்டமூலம். The eight different medicinal roots, viz.: 1. சுக்கு, dry ginger; 2. அரத்தை, of two kinds, சிற்றரத்தை. Alpinia Galanga minor, பேரரத்தை, Alpinia Galanga major; 3. செவ்வியம், Piper nigrum; 4. சித்திரமூலம், Plumbago Zeylanica; 5. கண்டுபாரங்கி, சிறுதேக்கு, a kind of medicinal root; 6. கோரைக்கிழங்கு, Cyperus juncifolius; 7. நன்னாரிவேர், Indian Sarsaparilla; 8. காஞ்சொறிவேர், Tragia involucrata. தசமூலம், Ten kinds of medicinal roots used in a tonic medicament: 1. வாகை, Mimosa flexuosa; 2. முல்லை, Jasminum angustifol, 3. பாதிரி, Bignonia chelenoides; 4. நெருஞ்சி, Tribulus terrestris; 5. பேரா முட்டி, Pavonia odorata; 6. கூவிளை, Crat&ae;va religiosa; 7. சிற்றாமுட்டி, Pavonia Zeylanica; 8. சிறுவழுதுணை, Solanum Indicum; 9. கண்டங்கத்தரி, Solanum Jaquini; 1. குமிழ், Gmelina Asiatica. (R.) பஞ்சமூலம், Five kinds of medicinal plants, called together, தசமூலம், in two classes. 1. சிறுபஞ்சமூலம், the minor kind; 1. கண்டங்கத்தரிவேர், Solanum jacquini; 2. சிறுவழுதுணைவேர், Solanum Indicum; 3. சிறுமல்லிவேர், Jasminum angustifol; 4. பெருமல்லிவேர், Jasminum undulatum; 5. நெருஞ்சிவேர், Tribulus terrestris. The roots of trees and plants. மூலகம், s. A root, கிழங்கு. 2. The radish--as முள்ளங்கி. (Sa. Moolaka.) மூலகாரியம், s. The first, prominent, principal thing. மூலகுணம், s. An irascible disposition. மூலக்கடுப்பு, v. noun. Pain from piles. See கடுப்பு. மூலக்கரப்பன், s. A spreading eruption. மூலக்காரன், s. One who has the piles. 2. [com. மூலகுணக்காரன்.] A hasty tempered man. மூலக்கிரந்தி, s. A kind of disease from morbid humors in the body. மூலக்கூறு, s. The radical parts of any substance; or its essential nature. மூலக்கிராணி, s. Hemorrhoids or piles with flux. See கிராணி. மூலக்கொதி, s. A kind of disease or pain from the piles, said to cause peevishness, and anger. மூலசம், s. All the vegetable productions which have roots or a bulb; [ex சம்.] மூலச்சூடு, s. As மூலக்கொதி. மூலச்சோதி, s. The original or primeval light, i. e. God, கடவுள். மூலதனம்--மூலத்திரவியம், s. Capital or stock, முதற்பணம். 2. A treasure accumulated by ancestors, பிதிரார்ச்சிதம். மூலத்தம்பம், s. A Sanscrit treatise on Architecture, ஓர்சிற்பநூல். மூலத்தன்மை, s. Principle, பிரகிருதி. மூலத்தானம்--மூலஸ்தானம், s. The interior of a temple. See கர்ப்பக்கிரகம். 2. A king's residence, அரசிருக்கை. மூலத்துருவம், s. Epoch-longitude of a planet. See துருவம். மூலநாள், s. The nineteenth lunar mansion, as மூலம். மூலநோக்காடு-மூலநோய்-மூலவியாதி, s. The piles. மூலபஞ்சாட்சரம், s. The five mysterious letters, நமசிவாய, a Saiva formule. மூலபதம், s. The root of a word. See பிண்டம். மூலபலம்--மூலப்படை, s. The main body of an army. மூலபலாதிகள், s. Roots, fruits, &c., eaten by ascetics in forests; [ex பலம், fruits et ஆதி, first.] மூலபாடம், s. An original text without a commentary. மூலபாடை--மூலபாஷை, s. The original language--said by Buddhists to be the Pali. மூலப்பகுதி--மூலப்பிரகிருதி, s. Maya as the cause of visible creation. மூலப்பொருள், s. The original or first cause, God, கடவுள். (p.) மூலமந்திரம், s. The chief mantra of each sect, as distinguished from the Gayatri common to all, especially to the brahmans. மூலமலம், s. The original principle of good and evil, causing successive births. See ஆணவம். மூலமுளை, s. A hemorrhoidal shoot. மூலவாயு, s. Wind in the intestines. மூலவாயுவையெழுப்புதல், v. noun. Driving upwards the internal wind. மூலவிக்கிரகம், s. The chief or stationary idol in a temple, usually of unwrought black granite--oppos. to எழுந் தருளுநாயகர். மூலவிருள், s. The original darkness of the soul. See மாயை. மூலவேர், s. The first or principal root of a tree, or its stem. மூலாக்கிரம், s. The root and the top. See ஆமூலாக்கிரம். மூலாக்கினி, s. The warmth of the stomach, as உதராக்கினி. 2. A technical term of Saiva-yogis. எனக்குமூலாக்கினியாயிருக்கிறது. I feel very hungry. மூலாக்கினிகிளம்பிவிட்டால்தெரியும். If I am exasperated it will appear. மூலாக்கினியைமுடுக்குகிறது. Urging the internal heat towards the head. மூலாசனம், s. The eating of roots; [ex அசனம்.] மூலாட்சரம், s. [poet. மூலாக்கரம்.] The primitive letter from which all the letters of the alphabet are derived. மூலாதாரம், s. The first region of the human body, the posteriors including the hip.
