(சது.) சுடர்விளக்காயினுந் தூண்டுகோல் ஒன்று வேணும். Though a lamp burn brightly, it will need a wick-pricker, i. e, the best require stirring up. சுடரெறிய, inf. To radiate, gleam, sparkle--as some precious gems. சுடரெண்ணெய், s. Drops of burning oil from a lamp. 2. Oil burnt in drops for medicinal purposes. 3. Margosa oil extracted by fire. சுடரோன், s. The sun, சூரியன். சுடர்கால, inf. To emit rays--as the sun. (p.) சுடர்க்கடை, s. Fire fly, மின்மினி. (p.) சுடர்க்கொடி, s. Incense of burnt camphor, ஆரதிகர்ப்பூரம். சுடர்ச்செலவு, s. [in astrol.] A division of the rising sign into two equal parts, for casting nativities. See இலக்கி னம். சுடர்த்தகழி, s. A small candelabria. சுடர்நிலை, s. A candlestick, விளக்குத் தண்டு. (p.) சுடர்மழுங்க, inf. To grow dim as the sun or moon in an eclipse, or when overcast. 2. To become dim as a lamp. சுடர்மௌலியர், s. The Devas, or supernals, as radiantly crowned with divine gems, or a halo of glory, வானோர். சுடர்விட--சுடர்விட்டெரிய, inf. To burn brightly or cast a long flame, as a lamp. (c.) சுடர்விழ, inf. To drop, as burning flames from a lamp. சுடர்விழுத்த, inf. [prov.] To cause burning oil to fall in drops by setting fire to a cloth suffused with it. சுடர்விழியோன், s. Virabadra, a form of Siva, வீரபத்திரன். முச்சுடர், s. The sun, moon and fire, as representing the three eyes of Siva, சூரியசந்திர அக்கினி. சொரூபானந்தச்சுடர், s. An epithet of deity. See சொரூபம். 23)

The small gristly protuberance of the ear, the right being, ஆண்தண்டு, the left, பெண்தண்டு, செவித்தண்டு. 15. Stalk, stem, தாள். 16. [in combin.] Stands of a lamp, candlestick, விளக்குத்தண்டு. 17. The bridge, or bone of the nose, மூக்குத் தண்டு. 18. A frame for carrying images on men's shoulders, வாகனத்தண்டு. 19. Membrum virile, ஆண்குறி. (indecent.) தண்டிலேபோனால் ரண்டிலேஒன்று. Enlisting in the army is a doubtful step. தண்டாகாரம், s. [in Hindu astron.] The arranging of sea-shells (which are used for numbers) in a line beginning with units up to tens, hundreds, &c., or numbers placed one after another according to their local value-oppos. to சர்ப்பாகாரம். தண்டாயுதம், s. To cause to go, impel; to drive a horse in a vehicle, to despatch; to propel arrows, &c., to send a person, செலுத்த. (சது.) 4. To remind, call the attention, suggest, bring to notice by word, signal or otherwise, நினைப்பூட்ட. (c.) தூண்டாவிளக்கு, s. viḷkku (p. 398) s. A lamp, தீபம். (c.) 2. The fifteenth lunar asterism, Arcturus in Bootes, சோதிநாள். (சது.) விளக்கெரிகிறது. The lamp burns. வீடும்விளக்குமாகவைக்கிறது.
