iṟu (p. 57) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To pay a debt, or tax, to liquidate, discharge debts, கடன்செலுத்த. 2. To pay unwillingly or by compulsion, to discharge a debt with difficulty, கடனிறுக்க. 3. To strain, pour off, to allow a liquid to percolate, leaving a sediment, grain, boiled rice, &c., to decant, வடிக்க. 4. (p.) To break a branch, a bow, &c.; to snap asunder, ஒடிக்க. 5. v. n. There are eight kinds of ஊறு or sensations given, viz.: 1. வெம்மை, heat. 2. தண்மை, cold. 3. மேன்மை, Softness, thinness, fineness. 4. வன்மை, hardness. 5. நொய்மை, slenderness, tenuity. 6. சீர்மை. smoothness. 7. இழுமெனல், slipperiness, 8. சருச்சரை, roughness, unevenness. ஊறுகாட்டினர்க்கு. To those who inflict wounds, &c. ஊறுகொள்ள, inf. To receive a hurt, suffer violence, காயங்கொள்ள. (இ ராமா.) ஊறுகோள், s. Injury, violence, wounds inflicted, காயம். 2. Murder, கொ லை. (p.) ஊறுபாடு, s. Wounds, scars, காயம். 2. Injury, damage, violence, தீமை. 3. The four ways of inflicting injury, viz.: எறிதல், குத்தல், வெட்டல் and எய்தல். ஊறுவைக்க, inf. ūṟṟu (p. 72) s. A spring, a fountain, source, நீரூற்று. 2. Dampness rising from the ground in the wet season, ஈரம். ஊற்றடைக்க, inf. To be choked up as a spring, or source. 2. To stop or choke a spring. ஊற்றுக்கண், s. The aperture whence water springs, the orifice of a spring, ஊற்றுவாய். ஊற்றுக்குழி, s. A hole in the ground for gathering water, ஊற்றுப்பள் ளம். ஊற்றுநீர், s. Spring-water. ஊற்றுப்பெயர, inf. To spring, flow newly--as a fountain into a well, ஊற்றுண்டாக. ஊற்றுவெட்டல்--ஊற்றுத்தோண் டல், v. noun. Digging for water. ஊற்றெடுக்க, inf. To spring up, or issue freely and plentifully, ஊற்றுப் பெருக. ஊற்றெடுக்கமழைபெய்தது. It rained so as to cause the water to flow from the land. 6)

kṇṭi (p. 89) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To reprove, reprehend, chide, speak with severity, admonish, expostulate, censure, கடிய. 2. To speak with decision, precision, earnestness, impartiality, பாரபட்சமின்றிப்பேச. 3. To cut in pieces, chop, mince, slash, துண்டிக்க. 4. To sever, sunder, hew down, வெட்ட. 5. To divide, parcel, பகிர. 6. To correct, chastise, discipline, punish a child, &c., to bring to a proper state by discipline, தண்டிக்க. கண்டித்துக்கண்டித்துச்சொல்ல, inf. To particularize. கண்டித்துக்கேட்க, inf. To ask with earnestness, reproof, threats, &c. கண்டித்துச்சொல்ல, inf. To speak harshly, to command with severity, to reprove, insist on. 2. To speak plainly, impartially, exactly, pointedly, with precision, positively. கண்டிதம், v. noun. Reproof, rebuke, கண்டிப்பு. 2. Chastisement, correction, discipline, punishment, தண்டனை. 3. A poet well skilled in Hindu metaphysics; also called, சுவேதவனப்பெருமாள். மெய்காட்டல், v. noun. Exhibiting strength, (lit.) showing the body. (p.) மெய்கூறல்--மெய்சொல்லல், v. noun. Speaking the truth. மெய்க்காப்பாளர், s. [also கஞ்சுகர்.] Body-guards, மெய்க்காவலர். மெய்க்கவசம்--மெய்யுறை, s. A coat of armor, a vestment. மெய்க்கிளை, s. [prov.] Genuine sprouts in jack-trees, &c., as distinguished from பொய்க்கிளை. See கிளை. மெய்க்கீர்த்திமாலை, s. A panegyric poem in the கட்டுரை versification, describing the illustrious descent, and famous actions of a hero. See பிரபந்தம். மெய்க்கொள்ள, inf. [com. மின்னூல்.] Ancient writings, commonly divine. மெய்நூலன், s. An epithet of Dronacharya, துரோணாசாரியன். (சது.) மெய்புகுகருவி, s. A vestment, as மெ ய்க்கவசம். (p.) மெய்ப்படாம்,s. A mantle or cloak, covering the whole body, நிலையங்கி; [ex படாம், a cloth.] (p.) மெய்ப்படுத்த, inf. [intrans. மெய்ப் பட.] To prove substantial. மெய்ப்பரிசம், 8. veṭṭu (p. 399) கிறேன், வெட்டினேன், வேன், வெட்ட, v. a. To cut, with a sword or axe, to cut off, to fell by a blow. 2. To engrave, முத்திரைவெட்ட. 3. To dig, as a well, தோண்ட. 4. To injure, to mar--as insects, புழுவெட்ட. 5. To strike off, as in measuring grain. See தலைவெட்ட. (c.) அதைவெட்டிப்போடு. Cut it down. அவனைவெட்டிக்கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள்.....They killed him by cutting [his throat]. வெட்டி, appel. n. [in comb.] That which cuts, as மண்வெட்டி, புழுவெட்டி. வாய்வெட்டி, s.
