To subtract or deduct a number in reckoning with kernels, seeds, &c. அலகுகிட்டுகை, v. noun. Having the lock-jaw. அலகுகூடை, s. A basket made of twigs closely twisted together, used to draw water. அலகுநிலை, s. The result of a reckoning, as the sum in addition, product in multiplication, &c. அலகுநிறுத்தல், v. noun. Placing a sword upright. This is a ceremony performed in the pagoda of துரோபதை, before the festival in honor to her is commenced. A sword is set up--the point downwards-- on the side of a vessel filled with water, and if it does not move, they think that the ceremony will be attended with success. This is also done in private houses. அலகுபருப்பு, s. A kind of pea. அலகுபனை, s. The long, flat leaved palmyra, Borassus flabelliformis, L. அலகுபாக்கு, s. Betel-nut sliced thin and boiled in water in which its husk has been boiled, giving it a reddish hue. அலகுபோட, inf. To perform a penance, in which the tongue is pierced with an iron wire, strings are drawn through the sides of the loins, or the breast cut with a knife. (c.) அலகுப்பூட்டு, v. noun. Closing the mouth in penance. அலகுவிறைப்பு, v. noun. Becoming cold and stiff as the jaws in childbirth, fits, hunger, &c. வேப்பலகு, s. The rib or small stalk of the leaves of the margosa tree. திருவலகு, s. A broom used in pagodas. சோற்றலகு, s. A sort of rice strainer, made of ribs of palm leaves. 23)

aḷ (p. 33) க்கிறேன், ந்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To measure, fathom, expore, estimate, அளவுசெய்ய. 2. To apportion, mete out, measure out, பங்கிட. 3. To extend, reach, எட்ட. விசும்பளந்தாண்டுநின்றிடுஞ்சிகரியை. The turrets which reached to the sky. மரக்காலைப்பாய்ச்சியளக்கிறான். He measures thrusting in the marcal; i. e. into the heap. பறைவெட்டியளக்கிறான்--பறைதட்டியளக்கிறான். He measures by striking off the excess of the grain. ஐயனளந்தபடி. As God allots. அளக்கை--அளத்தல், v. noun. Measuring. அளபு, v. noun. Measurement, அ ளவு. 2. The lengthening of the sound of a letter, அளபெடை. அளபெடுக்க, inf. To lengthen a letter, whether vowel or consonant, by the insertion of another short letter or mute, as the case may be, for the sake of the poetry, and sometimes for euphony, as, கழூஉ for கழு; மாத்திரைமிக் கொலிக்க. அளபெடை, v. noun. The lengthening of a letter chiefly for the sake of the verse. There are two ways of doing this. 1. உயிரளபெடை, the addition of a short vowel to a long one, either in the beginning, middle, or end of a word--as ஈஇ கை, gift--for ஈகை; படாஅ கை, banner--for படாகை; and குழூஉ, multitude--for குழு. Again this is divided into இயற்கையளபெடை, and செயற்கையளபெ டை. 2. ஒற்றளபெடை, the lengthening of the mutes, ங், ஞ், ண், ந், ம், ன், வ், ய், ல், ள், and ஃ by being repeated twice either in the middle or end of a word when they are placed after one or two short syllables, as அரங்கம், முரஞ்ஞ்சு, மண்ண்ணு, அம்ம்பு, கொள்ள்க, விலஃஃகி. அளப்பம்--அளப்பு, v. noun. Measuring, அளக்கை. 2. (fig.) Fate, destiny, ஊழ். 3. Needless repetition, chatter, அலப்பு. 4. Expressing dissatisfaction, முறுமுறுக்கை. வனிதையரளப்பிலர், The damsels are without number. அளப்பளக்க, inf. To repeat, use needless repetitions, prate, chatter, அ லப்ப. 2. To complain, grumble, express dissatisfaction, முறுமுறுக்க. அளப்பன், s. [prop. அலப்பன்.] A babbler, prater, chatterer, வீணாகப்பேசு வோன். 13)

ār (p. 41) . A termination of the third person plural of the rational class, பலர்பாற் படர்க்கைவிகுதி--as வந்தார், they came. Also honorific for the singular, as வந்தார். 2. It is sometimes affixed to a noun, as an additional termination, ஒருவனையுயர்த்திக்கூறுமிட த்துச்சேர்க்கப்படும்விகுதி--as தகப்பனார், father; தாயார், mother; காலனார், the god of death. 53)

āḷ (p. 43) --ஆளு, கிறேன், ஆண்டேன், வேன், ஆள, v. a. To rule, reign, exercise royal power, whether supreme or delegated, அரசுசெய்ய. 2. To possess and employ slaves, அடிமையாள. 3. To possess and enjoy the produce of land, the use of a house, &c., ஆட்சிசெய்ய. 4. To govern a wife, household, &c., குடும்பத்தையாள. 5. To accept, adopt--as a servant, slave, &c., receive into protection, ஆட்கொள்ள. 6. To use, establish usage--as in language, மொ ழியாட்சிசெய்ய. 7. To cherish, maintain, cultivate, exercise, ஓம்ப. 8. To manage, direct, கையாள. (c.)--Note. An appellative affix is formed from ஆள் by adding அன், for the singular, and அர் for the plural-as பகையாளன், a foe; பகையாளர், foes. ஆளமாட்டாதவனுக்குப்பெண்டேன்? What does he want with a wife, who cannot govern her? எடுத்தாளாதபொருளுதவாது. A thing not used becomes useless. என்னைமகிழ்வாலிசைந்தாளில். If thou receivest me with cheerfulness into thy protection. நட்பாள்பவர். Those sincerely united in friendship. யாமத்துமாளுந்தொழில். Employed even by night. (குறள்.) சான்றோராலாளப்பட்டசொல். A word used by the learned ancients. மன்னுயிரோம்பியருளாள்வார். They who cherish and exercise charity toward all living. அல்லலருளாள்வார்க்கில்லை. Evil cannot assail the charitable. ஆண்டவன்--ஆண்டான், appel. noun. A ruler, governor, lord, master, ஆள்வோன். ஆண்டி, s. [fem. ஆண்டிச்சி.] A religious mendicant of the Siva sect, a devotee, சிவனடியான். 2. A ruler, an appellative of the deity, transferred to the devotee. ஆண்டை, s. [fem. ஆண்டைச்சி.] A master, lord, landlord--as spoken by low castes, in reference to their feudal chief of superior caste, எசமானன். சத்தியமாய்்ச்சொல்லுகிறேனாண்டைகேளீர். My lord, listen to me; I will confess the truth. (ஞானவெட்.) ஆட்சி, v. noun. Possession, heritage, inheritance, title, உரிமை. 2. Government, domination, rule, reign, ஆளு கை. 3. Use, practice, occupancy, usage-especially in language by classical writers, வழக்கம். ஆட்சித்தானம்--ஆட்சிராசி, s. [in astrology.] One of the five situations in which a planet has government--that of its being in a sign deemed its own, during which it exerts special benignity --an occurrence favorable to the birth of a child, &c. ஆட்சிப்பட, inf. To become one's right by long possession, தற்கிழமை யாக. நெடுநாளாயவனுக்காட்சிப்பட்ட தெய்வம். A spirit or demon that has long been subject to him, or with which he has long been familiar. ஆட்சிப்படுத்த, inf. To secure a title by long possession, தற்கிழமையாக்க. ஆளுகை, v. noun. Rule, government, domination, authority. ஆளுகைசெய்ய, inf. To exercise government. ஆள்வாரில்லாமாடு, s. A cow or bull appropriated to a temple, which is left to stray as it likes; such are well received and fed. 59)

iṭu (p. 45) கிறேன், இட்டேன், வேன், இட, v. a. To set, put on as ornaments, தரிக்க. 2. To put in, deposit, keep, வைக்க. 3. To give, bestow, grant, devote, appropriate, ஈய. 4. To throw, case, poke out, poke or thrust into, எறிய. 5. To designate, appropriate, assign, allot, destine, dictate, விதிக்க. 6. To pour, shower, சொரிய.--As an expletive, it is joined to the gerunds of other verbs in which, it sometimes gives additional force or emphasis to the action expressed, or serves as a kind of finish, வினையெச்சத்தோடுசேர்ந்தோர்பகுதிநீர்மைத்தா ய்வருவது.--The gerund இட்டு is sometimes used to express cause, instrumentality, &c.--as, அவனையிட்டிந்தப்பழிவந்தது, this disgrace happened through him. மரத்தினிற்பறவைக்கிடுகலேபோலப்பாதகமனைத்துந் தொலைத்திடும். It will drive away every evil, as a stone thrown at birds in a tree puts them to flight. இடுகடை, s. A door or gate where much liberality is exercised, கொடுப்போனில்வாயில். (p.) இடுகறல், s. Fuel, விறகு. (நிக ண்டு.) (p.) இடுகாடு, s. A burying place, பிரே தம்புதைக்குமிடம். 2. A place for burning the dead, சுடுகாடு. இடுகுறி--இடுகுறிப்பெயர், s. Arbitrary names of things, primitive terms. இடுகுறிச்சிறப்புப்பெயர், s. [in grammar.] A specific term or primitive nouns not common to all--as தெ ங்கு, a cocoanut tree. இடுகுறிப்பொதுப்பெயர், s. [in grammar.] A generic term, or primitive common noun--as மரம், tree or trees. இடுதங்கம், s. Refined gold, gold of the best quality, புடமிடுதங்கம். 2. Gold inlaid, set, mounted, &c., கல்நகையிலுள் ளிடுதங்கம். இடுதண்டம், s. A penalty, விதிக் கப்பட்ட ஆக்கினை. 2. A penalty, fine, mulct, அநியாயதண்டம். இடுதிரை, s. A curtain, திரைச் சீலை. இடுமருந்து, s. A philter, வசமாக்க விடுமருந்து. இட்டறுதி, s. A fixed time or limit, நியமித்தவெல்லை. 2. A critical time, இரண்டுக்குற்றகாலம் 3. Destitution, extreme want, வறுமை. இட்டுக்கட்டிக்கொள்ள, inf. oṭṭu (p. 81) கிறேன், ஒட்டினேன், வேன், ஒட்ட, v. a. and v. n. To stick on, to stick up, to glue on, cause to cleave or adhere, பொருத்த. 2. To apply, resort, betake one's self to a person for support, protection, to come or be near, or in contact with, to lean on or join one's self to a thing, சார. 3. To use qualifying terms, phrases, adjuncts, &c., அடைகொடுக்க. 4. To lay a wager, to gamble, பந்தயம்வைக்க. 5. To permit, suffer, allow, let, இடங்கொடுக்க. 6. To increase length or breath by addition, to add to, சேர்க்க. 7. To grow lean, be withered, shrunk, &c., to have the skin stick to the bones, be shrivelled as a fruit, &c., சுருங்க. 8. To stand near a wall, a pillar, &c., in order to over-hear, to way-lay, &c., விசேஷங்கேட்கவொளித்துநிற்க. சுட்டமண்ணும்பச்சைமண்ணுமொட்டாது. Burnt earth will not adhere to that which is fresh. ஒட்டி யுலர்வாருறவு. That is friendship which adheres to and suffers with one, lit. which dries with one as the flowers in the tank. இதுனக்கொட்டுமோ. Will this unjust gain, &c., abide with you? உலகத்தோடொட்டவொழுகல். Acting conformably to the world. (குறள்.) மரத்தோடொட்ட. To hide one's self behind a tree. தோலெல்லாமெலும்போடொட்டிப்போயிற்று..... The skin cleaves to the bones. ஒருவனையொட்டிப்பிழைக்க. To subsist by means of another. அவனைவரவொட்டும். [Contracted in colloquial use to அவன்வரட்டும்.] Let him come. சொல்லவொட்டான். He will not permit me to speak. ஒட்டஅறுக்க, inf. To cut off short or level with the ground--as corn; to cut off altogether, to sever--as an ear, a tail, &c. ஒட்டஇணைகக, inf. To nail in close. ஒட்டக்கட்ட, inf. To tie short. 2. To tuck or gather up the clothes well so that no part may hang down. 3. To tie a necklace close to the neck. ஒட்டப்பட்டினிபோட--ஒட்டப் போட, inf. To make a patient fast in order to cure his disease, or to put on short commons a disobedient person for disciplinary purposes. ஒட்டவடிக்க, inf. To drain quite off. ஒட்டவிட, inf. To let one join or have access to one. 2. To set cocks together preparatory for fighting. ஒட்டாக்கொற்றி, s. A cow cruel to its calf. 2. A woman unkind to her child or inattentive, unyielding, &c., to her husband. ஒட்டாமலடிக்க, inf. To neglect one who has sought protection. ஒட்டார்--ஒட்டலர், s. Foes, persons that will not unite, பகைவர். (p.) ஒட்டிக்கொள்ள, inf. To cleave, to adhere, &c. 2. To supply a word, &c., understood or wanting to complete the sense. இதனையெல்லாவிடங்களிலுமொட்டிக்கொள்க... Apply this word in every similar instance. ஒட்டித்தப்பியிருக்க, inf. To survive, be left, &c., after a general destruction, sacking clearing, to be out of sight, unnoticed. ஒட்டிப்போக, inf. To go jointly or together. 2. To wax lean, pine. ஒட்டியபுண், s. A contagious eruption. ஒட்டியமேளம், s. A kind of drum. ஒட்டுவியாதி, s. An infectious disease, தொத்துவியாதி. ஒட்டுறவு, s. Near relationship, great friendship. அறுந்தகாதொட்ட, inf. To join an ear that has been torn or cut. பந்தயமொட்ட, inf. To lay a wager. ஒட்டல், v. noun. Sticking, adhering, pasting, &c. 2. s. Shortness. ஒட்டல்வயிறு, s. A shrunk belly. ஒட்டற்காது, s. Short ears or ears with the lobes not hanging. ஒட்டு, v. noun. Adhesion, contact, attachment, conjunction, friendship, cement, சேர்க்கை. 2. Being close to a wall, tree, &c., generally for some bad purpose, lurking to over-hear, to ensnare birds, &c., பதிவிருக்கை. 3. Bidding more--as at a sale, விலையுயர்த்திக்கேட்கை. ஒட்டுக்கண், s. Inflamed eyes with the lids adhering. ஒட்டுக்காய்ச்சல், s. A contagious fever, தொத்துக்காய்ச்சல். ஒட்டுக்காய்ச்சலாய்க்காய, inf. To have a contagious fever. ஒட்டுக்குஞ்சு, s. A small young one of birds, சிறுகுஞ்சு. 2. [prov.] A small white louse, பேன்குஞ்சு. ஒட்டுக்குடி, s. A family or person, lodging or dwelling in another's house, garden, &c. ஒட்டுக்கும், adv. Wholly, entirely, முழுதும். ஒட்டுக்கேட்க, inf. [prop. ஒற்றுக் கேட்க.] To over-hear by listening in a hiding place, &c. ஒட்டுக்கொடுக்க, s. inf. To allow access, to be accessible. 2. To comply with, to yield, grant one's request, இடங் கொடுக்க. ஒட்டுடந்தை--ஒட்டுப்பற்று--ஒட் டுரிமை, s. A slight participation in an act, ஒட்டுடன்பாடு. 2. oṉṟu (p. 84) கிறேன், ஒன்றினேன், வேன், ஒன்ற. v. n. To unite, coalesce, knit or grow together--as broken parts, two trees, &c.; to become one, to join, combine, இணைய. 2. To be engaged, be intent, &c. on an object, ஒன்றுபட. 3. To agree, suit, be agreeable, பொருந்த. 4. To copulate, புணர. ஒன்றவில்லை. It is not convenient. 2. They are not fit. 3. (They) (the things or parts) are not united, not joined well, &c. தேகத்தொன்றுநோய். Disease which befalls the body. (வைராக்கிய.) ஊழொன்றியிருப்பின். If destiny favor-ஒன்றப்பார்க்க, inf. To unite severed parts--as a magician by looking at them, lit. to look them into one, பொ ருந்தப்பார்க்க. 2. To join things to see if they fit or agree--as machinery, இசைக்க. ஒன்றாதவஞ்சித்தளை, s. See தளை. ஒன்றார்--ஒன்னாதார்--ஒன்னார், s. Foes, unfriendly persons. (p.) ஒன்றுகுடி, s. A family or person living in another's house, garden, &c. See ஒட்டுக்குடி and ஒதுக்குக்குடி. ஒன்றுகூட்டு, s. Concord, harmony, living on terms of friendship, ஒரு கூட்டு. ஒன்றுகூட்டாயிருக்க, inf. To be closely united, be in harmony, &c. ஒன்றுநர், s. Friends, relations, ந ண்பர். (p.) ஓ. The eleventh vowel, ஓகாரம். 2. A particle, இடைச்சொல். It has various uses; in நன்னூல், eight different meanings are given to it. (a) ஒழியிசை, a mark of ellipsis denoting the omission of a counter-part to what is expressed--as கொள லோகொண்டான், true he has obtained his object (but he will not prosper by it). (b) வினா, interrogatives--as சாத்தனோவந்தான், is it Sattan that came? (c) சிறப்பு, speciality, particularity, &c., an interjection of surprise. This is two-fold. 1. உயர்வுசிறப் பு, relating to objects of superiority, preeminence, &c.--as ஓஒ பெரியன், heigh day! he is an illustrious person. 2. இழிவுசிறப்பு, relating to objects of inferiority, baseness, &c.--as ஓஒ கொடியன், Oh! he is a cruel wretch. (d) எதிர்மறை, negation--as யானோ செய்வேன், will I do it? implying I will not. (e) தெரிநிலை, ascertainment, clear perception, appeal to the hearer, &c.-as ஆணோஅதுவுமன்றுபெண்ணோஅதுவுமன்று, it is neither male nor female. (f) கழிவு, bereavement, an interjection of pity--as ஓஒ தமக் கோருறுதியுணராரோ, alas, alas, they have found no way of salvation. (g) அசைநிலை, expletive--as காணியவம்மினோ, come let us see. (h) பிரிநிலை, distinguishing, marking-as அவனோகொண்டான், it was he who bought it. In addition to these it also serves to express doubt--as நீனிறமுகிலோபசியசைவல மோநெடுந்திரைகொழித்ததெள்ளறலோ, is the hair of the damsel analogous to the blue clouds, to the green moss, or the black sand on the shore drifted by the billows (நைட); அதென்னவோதெரியாது, What that can be I know not.

oṟṟai (p. 84) s. One of a pair, ஒன்று. 2. Odd numbers--as 1, 3, 5, &c., odd, ஒற் றையெண். 3. Singleness, தனிமை. 4. Soleness, uniqueness, absoluteness, தன்னந்தனி. 5. A leaf in a book, தனியேடு. 6. A row of small patches of ground in a corn-field, adjoining one side of a cross channel. ஒற்றையோஇரட்டையோ. Is it even or odd? ஒற்றிக்க, inf. v. n. To be odd as numbers--as 1, 3, 5, ஒற்றைப்பட. 2. To be unwavering, be settled in mind or purpose, to be decided, ஒன்றுபட. ஒற்றித்தமனம், s. A single mind, sincerity. 2. Freedom from doubt, decision of mind. ஒற்றித்தவெண், s. Odd numbers, ஒற்றைப்பட்டவெண். ஒற்றைக்கண்ணன், s. Venus, சுக் கிரன். 2. kuvera, குபேரன். (p.) ஒற்றைக்குடை, s. An unique umbrella--an emblem of independent sovereignty. ஒற்றைக்குடையினாளுதல், v. noun. Exercising absolute sovereignty. ஒற்றைக்கொம்பன், s. Ganesa, the single-tusked--as an elephant, the other tusk having been broken off, வினாயகன். ஒற்றைச்சார், s. [prov.] A house without an area in the centre. ஒற்றைத்தாலி, s. A single wedding ornament without the accompaniments which are sometimes added on a future day. See மூட்டுத்துலா or நெம்புத்துலா. ஒற்றைநூல், s. A three-twined sacred thread--as worn by a bachelor. ஒற்றைநூற்புடவை, s. Single threaded cloth, தனியிழை. ஒற்றைப்படவெண்ணுதல், v. noun. Counting by odd numbers. 2. Counting things one by one. ஒற்றைப்பட்டு, s. One of several strings of a necklace, folds, strands. ஒற்றைப்பட்டுமணி, s. A single necklace. ஒற்றைப்பார்ப்பான், s. A single brahman, whose sight is deemed inauspicious whether as the first object in the morning, or at any time on leaving home for some special purpose. ஒற்றைப்புரிக்கயிறு, s. A rope formed of a single strand, ஒருபுரிக்கயிறு. ஒற்றையாழித்தேர், s. The chariot of the sun being single-wheeled, சூரியனு டையதேர். ஒற்றையாழித்தேரோன், s. A monopetalous flower, ஓரிதழ்ப்பூ. ஒற்றையிரட்டைபிடித்தல், v. noun. Playing at odd and even. ஒற்றையோலைப்பாய், s. Mats braided with single olas. ஒற்றையோலைப்பெட்டி, s. ōmam (p. 84) s. A burnt offering, the casting of clarified butter, the nine kinds of grain, &c., into the sacred fire, accompanied with prayers, &c. It forms an essential part of the marriage ceremony and is performed at the அந்தியேட்டி, a chief ceremony for deceased persons and in the worship of the temple, &c. In poetry the burnt sacrifice of animals, யாகம். Wils. p. 98. HOMA. ஓமகுண்டம், s. A hole made in the ground for sacrificial fire. Wils. p. 78. HOMAKUNDA. ஓமசாந்தி, s. Mitigating, propitiating by fire, அக்கினிசாந்தி. 2. Burnt offering at a marriage to propitiate the god of fire who is thus invoked as a witness of the transaction, விவாகத்திற்செய்யுமோம சாந்தி. 3. Any additional sacrifice performed to obtain pardon for having omitted certain ceremonies in a sacrifice, யாகசாந்தி. ஓமஞ்செய்ய, inf. To perform a burnt sacrifice, அக்கினிகாரியஞ்செய்ய. ஓமதிரவியம், s. The requisites for a sacrifice including the firewood, &c., யாகஉபகரணம். ஓமப்பொடி, s. The ashes of the ஓமம்--deemed sacred, and used for smearing the person, யாகநீறு. ஓமமண்டபம், s. A sacrificial hall, யாகசாலை. ஓமம்வளர்க்க, inf. To kindle and feed the sacrificial fire which should never be suffered to go out; to attend to this is the special duty of the student or பிரமசாரி. ஓமவிறகு, s. Sacrificial fire-wood of different kinds. See சமித்து. ஓமாக்கினி, s. Sacrificial fire, ஓ மத்தழல். Wils. p. 18. HOMAGNI. ஓமல், s. [vul.] A rumor, report, spreading as a rumor, ஊர்ப்பேச்சு. ஊருக்கோமல்வீட்டுக்குவயிற்றெரிச்சல். He has the name of being a rich man, but in his house there is want and misery. ஓமற்படுதல்--ஊரோமல், v. noun. Spreading as a rumor, being rumored. உன்னாலிந்தாகசியம்ஊரோமலாச்சுதே. The secret has been bruited throughout the town by you. 98)

ōrai (p. 84) s. A sign of the zodiac equal to thirty degrees, இராசி. 2. A period of five நாழிகை, or two hours commencing with the rising of a zodiacal sign. 3. The rising of a sign, இலக்கினம். Wils. p. 98. HORA. 4. Opportunity, சமயம். 5. A lady's female attendant, தோழி. 6. Female toys, playthings, &c., மாதர்விளையாடுங்கருவிகள். 7. A play ground for females, மாதர்விளையாடுங்களம். 8. A kind of seton with a corrosive or caustic preparation on it, inserted in an abscess, &c., காரச்சீலைத்திரி. காரநீர், s. Dyer's lye made of alum, rust, &c., காரமாயசாயநீர். காரப்பசை, s. A cement of solder of குன்றிமணி seeds and alum, used by gold or silver smiths, காரமானபசை. காரம்போட, inf. To apply alkali, caustic, &c. காரம்போட்டுவெளுக்க, inf. kiḷmpu (p. 111) கிறேன், கிளம்பினேன், வேன், கி ளம்ப, v. n. To rise in the air or water, to ascend, to get up; to rise above the level, to emerge, to rise to the surface, எழும்ப. 2. To emerge from obscurity, to become illustrious, to rise to, or gain eminence; to prosper, to be elevated, மேலோ ங்க. 3. To grow up, வளர. 4. To be built up, சுவர்முதலியனகிளம்ப. 5. kuṭṭi (p. 117) s. The young of elephants, horses, asses, goats, sheep, dogs, jackals, cats, swine, tigers, lions, bears, deers, elks, hares, monkeys, snakes, alligators, ichneumons, sloths, armadillos, sharks, &c.; also, the young of plantain-trees, and jack-trees, ஆடுமுதலியவற்றின்குட்டி. 2. A little girl, சிறுபெண்பிள்்ளை. 3. A child, in fondness, especially the youngest, குழந்தை. 4. [in gambling.] An additional coin or seed set down as a stake by a person who hits a wrong seed, coin, &c., ஓர்விளையாட் டில் அதிகமாகக்கூட்டுங்காய். 5. [prov.] An additional sum claimed or allowed on a debt--as a share of the net profit, &c., ஆதா யம்; [ex குட்டம், little.] குட்டிக்கழுதை, s. A young ass. குட்டிக்கரடி, s. The whelp of a bear. குட்டியாடு, s. A kid, a lamb. குட்டியாடுகொழுத்தாலும்வழுவழுப்புத்தீராது.... Though a kid fattens, its lubricious quality does not cease; though a youth perform notable actions, they are commonly imperfect. குட்டிபோட, inf. to bring forth--as brutes; to calve, to cub, to whelp, to foal, to kitten, to lamb, to litter, குட்டியீன. 2. An extra of dwarf tooth. குட்டிவிரல், s. A sixth or extra finger or toe, smaller than the proper size, ஐந்திற்கதிகமானவிரல். குட்டிச்சுவர், s. A short piece of wall adjoining a large building, சிறுசுவர். 2. (fig.) A worthless fellow, மடையன். காரியங்குட்டிச்சுவராய்ப்போயிற்று. The thing has dwindled away, is come to nought. குட்டிக்கம்பு, s.
