kiḷḷu (p. 112) கிறேன், கிள்ளினேன், வேன், கிள்ள, v. a. To pinch with the finger and thump, the nails, &c., கையாற்கிள்ள. 2. To pinch off, to pluck, to nip, to pick--as a leaf, &c., இலைமுதலியகிள்ள. 3. To hold, take up, carry, &.--as with the beak, the fingers and thump, &c.; to take up a little, a pinch, &c., கொஞ்சமாயெடுக்க. வயிறுகிள்ளுகிறது. I am pinched with hunger. கிள்ளாக்கு, s. A bit of leaf, especially an ola given as a token of being sent by some superior, அதிகாரநறுக்கு. 2. A note of hand, a bit of leaf, a token from a person in authority--as a passport, warrant, letter of introduction, &c., உத்தார ச்சீட்டு. கிள்ளாப்பிறாண்டு, s. [prov.] A kind of child's play, pinching, ஓர்விளையாட்டு. 2. fig. Want of attention to guests, at a feast; distribution to them in small quantities, அலட்சியம். கிள்ளாப்பிறாண்டுபண்ண, inf. To supply guests too sparingly. 2. To take sparingly at a feast from modesty, delicacy, &c. 3. To give stintingly in charity, &c. கிள்ளிக்காட்ட, inf. To give a hint, a signal; also a summery, &c.; lit. a pinch. கிள்ளிக்கொடுக்க, inf. To give a little from a great quantity. 2. To give but little, a pinch, &c. கிள்ளித்தெளிக்கமாட்டான். local. He will not even give a jerk. கிள்ளிப்பிடுங்க, inf. To pinch and pluck off. கிள்ளிவிட, inf. To stir up; to excite, to instigate. கிள்ளிவைக்க, inf. To set or take a little from a heap--as the small mnemonic heaps in measuring grain. கிள்ளுகீரை, s. Greens plucked off from the root. அவன்உனக்குக்கிள்ளுக்கீரையோ. Is he a mere youngster, that you may cuff him as you please? கிள்ளுக்கீரைப்பண்ண, inf. To insult, to treat insultingly. கிள்ளுக்கீரையாய்நினைத்துப்பேச, inf. To speak contemptibly. கிள்ளு, v. noun. A pinch, a nip; a little piece of betel-leaf, tobacco, &c., கிள்ளப் பட்டதுண்டு. 2. A pinch in quantity, துணி க்கை. கிள்ளுங்கிழியுமாய்ப்போகக்கடவது. tattam (p. 223) s. Gift, present, donation, grant--as land, &c., with due formality, in presence of witnesses human or divine, ஈகை.--Note. The sun is often appealed to as witness, and water is poured, by the bestower of a grant or gift, on betelleaf and gold in the right hand of the receiver. 2. Adoption, சுவிகாரம். (Sans. Datta) (c.) எள்ளுந்தண்ணீரும்விட்டுத்தத்தம்பண்ணிவிட்டேன். I gave the gift with water mixed with sesamum seed; (implying permanence.) தத்தங்கொடுக்க, inf. To give in adoption. தத்தபுத்திரன், s. An adopted son. தத்தம்பண்ண, inf. To make a grant, donations, &c. தத்தம்பண்ணிக்கொடுக்க, inf. To give with proper formality. தத்தம்பண்ணிவிட, inf. To devote a piece of land, a cow, &c., to a temple or a brahman. தத்தம்வாங்கிக்கொள்ள, inf. To adopt. தாராதத்தம், s. (St.) Giving a girl in marriage by placing betel-leaf, paddy, and gold in her hand, and pouring water on these, the god of fire being invoked as a witness. He is supposed in stand on the top of the flame on the occasion; [ex தாரா, wife.]. மனோதத்தம், s. Purpose formed in the mind to make a grant. 2. A vow to a deity who is called to witness. Areca-nut, betel-nut, துவர்க் காய், Areca catechu.--The different preparations of areca-nuts are அலகுபாக்கு or சாலியம்பாக்கு, களிப்பாக்கு, கொட்டைப்பாக்கு, வெட் டைப்பாக்கு, கூர்சீவினபாக்கு, தெற்கம்பாக்கு, ஆரங் கம்பாக்கு. பாக்களவு, s. The measure of an areca-nut--small, as to space, time, &c. பாக்களவுகொடுப்பேன். I will, give as much as an areca-nut will hold. பாக்கிடிக்க, inf. As பாக்குத்துவைக்க. பாக்கிலை, s. As பாக்குவெற்றிலை. (R.) பாக்குக்கக்கல், v. noun. [prov.] Chewed betel cast from he mouth. பாக்குக்கடிக்கிறநேரம், s. The measure of time, in which an areca-nut is bitten, meaning quickness. பாக்குக்கட்ட, inf. [prov.] To play with areca-nuts. பாக்குக்கண், s. The eye of an arecanut. பாக்குக்குலை, s. A bunch of arecanuts. பாக்குச்சாரம், s. Juice or essence of areca-nut, betel, &c. பாக்குச்சீவ, inf. To pare and cut in slices an areca-nut, for use. பாக்குச்சீவல்--பாக்குச்செதிள்--செதில், s. Areca-nut parings. பாக்குச்செருக்கல், v. noun. Being dizzy from chewing stupifying arecanuts. See செருக்கு, v. பாக்குத்தம்பலம், s. Chewed betel as spit out. 2. The red spittle of betel. பாக்குத்துவைக்க, inf. To pound areca-nut, betel-leaf, &c., in a mortar for old people. பாக்குப்பறித்தல், v. noun. Snatching betel-nut from the friends of the bridegroom, by a rival lover, at the bride's house; deemed an insult similar to taking away the bride. பாக்குப்பிளவு, s. A slice or arecanut. பாக்குப்புரையேற, inf. To cough from obstructions in the throat, in chewing the areca-nut. பாக்குப்பை--பாக்குவெற்றிலைப்பை, s. A betel-pouch. பாக்குப்போட, inf. To take betel, as தாம்பூலம்போட. பாக்குவெட்டி, appel. n. A kind of scissors for cutting areca-nuts in slices. பாக்குவெற்றிலை, s. Areca-nut, and betel. See பாக்குப்பை. பாக்குவெற்றிலைக்கூட்டு, s. See கூட்டு. பாக்குவைக்க, inf. [also தாம்பூலம் வைக்க.] To invite persons to a wedding by sending them a present of areca-nuts and betel. 12)

The rope or string which is put through a bullock's nose for a bridle. மூக்காங்கயிறுகுத்துகிறது. Perforating a bullock's nose for the string. மூக்கந்தண்டு, s. [com. மூக்காந்தண்டு.] Bridge of the nose. மூக்கரிகத்தி, s. [poet. குளிரி.] An instrument for nipping betel-leaves. (சது.) மூக்கறிவு, s. Knowing by smell. மூக்கறை, s. A person with an amputated nose; in contempt, மூக்கறைப்பயல். மூக்கறைச்சி--மூக்கறைப்பெண், s. [masc. மூக்கறையன்.] A woman deprived of her nose by amputation or disease. மூக்கறையனுக்குவாழ்க்கைப்பட்டால்முன்னும்போ கவிடான்பின்னும்போகவிடான். A woman whose husband has no nose can neither go forward nor backward; applied to a fickleminded master. மூக்கன், s. A man with a large nose. See காக்கைமூக்கன். மூக்காங்கொழுந்து--மூக்குக்கொழுந்து, s. End of the nose. மூக்காலேபோகிறசீவன். A living being which breathes its last by the nose; said of men in contempt. மூக்காலேயழுதல், v. noun. Snivelling, crying through the nose. மூக்கிலி, appel. n. A plant, Portalaca meridiana, சொக்களிப்பூடு. 2. As மூக்கறை. மூக்குக்கண்ணாடி, s. [high dialect சுலோ சனம்.] A pair of spectacles. மூக்குக்குத்துதல், v. noun. Perforating the nose of a child born after the death of two previous children, to preserve its life. மூக்குச்சளி--மூக்கூளை, s. Mucus of the nose. மூக்குச்சாத்திரம், s. See சரசாஸ்திரம். மூக்குச்சிந்த--மூக்குச்சீற, inf. [also சளிச்சிந்த.] To blow the nose. மூக்குத்தளுக்கு, s. A gold-ring worn in one nostril, by some women. மூக்குத்தி, s. A nose-ornament, or jewel. மூக்குத்திபோட்டிருக்கிறாள். She wears a nose-jewel. மூக்குத்தூள்--மூக்குப்பொடி, s. Snuff. மூக்குப்பிளவை, s. An ulcer on the nose. மூக்குப்பூருதல், v. noun. [vul.] Perforating the nose. மூக்குமயிர், s. Hair in the nostrils. மூக்குமயிர்பிடுங்கினாலாட்பாரங்குறையுமா. Will one's weight be diminished by pulling out the hair from the nostrils?--said of mean savings. [prov.] மூக்குவாளி, s. A ring worn in one nostril. மூக்குறிஞ்ச, inf. See உறிஞ்சு, v. மூக்கைச்சுளித்தல்--மூக்கைநெறித்தல், v. noun. Turning up the nose. மூக்கைத்தீட்டுதல், Whetting the beak as a bird. மூக்கையுமுகத்தையுங்காட்டுதல்.
