aṟpam (p. 33) s. Littleness, any thing of trifling import, of small consequence, insignificance, சிறுமை. 2. Inferiority, a trifle, இழிவு. Wils. p. 74. ALPA. 3. Slightness, இலேசு. 4. (p.) A dog, நாய். அற்ப ஆசை கோடிதவத்தைக்கெடுக்கும். The coveting of a small thing destroys the penance of years. இதொரு அற்பகாரியம். This is a trifling thing. அற்பசங்கை--அற்பாசமனம், s. The act of making urine, modesté--in reference to those who wear the string. அற்பத்தனம், s. Vileness, meanness. அற்பபுத்தி, s. Low wit, folly, silliness. அற்பமாய், adv. Meanly, basely, vilely. அற்பன், s. (pl. அற்பர்.) An inferior, low-caste or ill-bred person, a mean person. அற்பனுக்குப்பவிஷுவந்தாலத்தராத்திரியிற்குடை பிடிப்பான். If a mean person has obtained wealth, he will carry an umbrella even at midnight. 67)

ēkkṟ (p. 78) inf. v. n. To bow before, or yield to superiors, ambitious of, or coveting their excellencies--as learning, beauty, riches, &c., தாழ்ந்துநிற்க. (p.) உடையார்முன்னில்லார்போலேக்கற்றுங்கற்றார்..... They who have acquired knowledge by doing homage to the learned; as the poor to the rich. (குறள்.) 4)

piṟṉ (p. 319) s. [pl. பிறர்.] Another person, some other one, any other one, மற்றையான். 2. A stranger, an alien, அன்னியன். 3. A neighbor, அயலான், (c.) பிறன்பொருள்,s. Property of another. பிறன்கோட்கூறல், v. noun. [in literature.] Adopting the sentiments, &c., of another author, முப்பத்திரண்டுத்தியினொன்று. பிறனில்--பிறன்மனை, s. Neighbor's house, or ground. 2. [fig.] Neighbor's wife, அயலவன்மனைவி. பிறனில்விழையாமை, s. Not coveting another's wife. (குறள்.) பிறன்மனையாள்மேலாசைப்பட, inf. To covet another man's wife. பிறன்மனைவிரும்பாமை, neg. v. noun.
