kūvu (p. 136) கிறது, கூவினது--கூயிற்று, ம், கூவ, v. n. [in the gerund, it is sometimes கூய் instead of கூவி.] To crow--as a cock, சேவல் முதலியனகூவ. 2. To coo, to sing, to warble --as birds; to scream--as a peacock, பறவை யொலிக்க. 3. v. a. To call, to whoop, to halloo, கூப்பிட. 4. (p.) To utter, proclaim, சொல்ல. 5. v. n. To scold at, to brawl, அதட்ட. 6. To cry--as a child; to bawl, அழ. In poetry like other similar words, it makes the past in கூவியது, கூயினது and கூயது. குயில்கூவினாற்போல்.
