eḷimai (p. 75) s. Despicableness, meanness, lowness of rank, circumstances, character, &c., நீசத்துவம். 2. Pitiableness, exciting compassion, இரங்கப்படத்தக்கதன்மை. 3. Weakness, பலவீனம். 4. Easiness, facility, being easy to effect, acquire, attain, endure, to be understood; easiness of access, எளிது. 5. Solitariness, தனிமை; [ex எள்.] எளிஞர்--எளியர்--எளியார்--எளி யோர், s. The low, mean, destitute, the poor, தரித்திரர். எளிதரவு, [impr. for. எளிவரல்.] Indigence, poverty, despicableness, cringing, தரித்திரம். 2. Lowness, humility, தாழ்மை. எளிது, s. [impr. எளிசு.] Being easy of execution, acquisition, &c., இலேசு. எளிதானகாரியம், s. A trifling thing, a trivial affair, a thing easily understood. எளியகுடி, s. Poor, destitute inhabitants. 2. A family low in rank. எளியகொடை, s. Unworthy gifts, presents unsuitable to the persons to whom they are made. எளியது, s. That which is despicable, low trifling, &c., எளிமையானது. எளியவன்--எளியன், s. A man of low caste, a person poor, destitute, mean, &c. எளியவன்பெண்டாட்டியெல்லாருக்கும்மைத்துன ச்சி. The wife of a poor man is free of access to every body. எளியாரைவலியார்கேட்பின் வலியாரைத்தெய்வங் கேட்கும். If the powerful oppress the weak, the deity will require it of them. எளியவிலை, s. Low price. எளியவேலை, s. Low, menial work. கைக்கெளியது, s. That which is portable, small, easily carried, stolen, secreted, managed, as a child, &c. தாளையேதரமறிகிலாதெமக்கெளிதருசிவப்பிரகாசன். The guru (Sivaprakasa) who readily admits us to his feet; i. e., he is ready to grant our desires (சத.) 24)

kci (p. 85) கிறது, ந்தது, யும, ய, v. n. To grow moist, to ooze out--as moisture from a wall; to spread or extend--as humidity round a well, &c., ஈரமூற. 2. To perspire--as the hands and feet, வெயர்க்க. 3. To grow tender-minded, become compassionate, to relent, இரங்க. 4. To become soft, to melt--as jaggary, salt, &c., with damp, உப்புமுதலியனகசிய. 5. To weep, அழ. மனங்கசிகிறது. To become tender in mind, to be kind, affectionate, &c. மனங்கசிந்தழுகிறது. To weep bitterly. தலையிலெண்ணெய்கசிகிறது. The head is greasy with oil. நீர்கசிகிறநிலம். Marshy land in which moisture abounds. ஓட்டில்நீர்கசிகிறது. The moisture oozes from the tiles. கசிகசிப்பு, v. noun. Being wet or cold, &c., to the sense of touch, கசிவு. கசிவு, v. noun. Dampness, greasiness, moisture--as of land, sugar, salt, furniture, &c., ஈரம். 2. Tenderness, sensibility, softness, அன்பு. 3. Secretion, perspiration on the surface of the body, வெயர்வை. 4. Pain, distress, வருத்தம். கசிவகத்துண்மை, s. One of the ten வேளாண்மைமாந்தரியல்பு. 2. Kind-heartedness. கசிவானபேச்சு, s. obliging, courteous language, tender expression. கசிவானமனம், s. A relenting or affectionate mind, a heart susceptible of tender feelings, devotional or otherwise. 50) *

Property obtained by one's own labor, வருந்தித்தேடியபொருள். 24)

kōṇu (p. 150) கிறது, கோணினது, ம், கோண, v. n. (Sa. Kon'a, crooked.) To be crooked, bent, curved, angular, serpentine, வளைய. 2. To be or become awry, oblique, aslant, askant, கோணலாயிருக்க. (c.) 3. To deviate, diverge, or turn out of the proper course, நெறிபிறழ. 4. To be warped or discouraged in mind; to be changed--as circumstances, மாறுபட. முதற்கோணினால் முற்றுங்கோணும். If the beginning goes wrong, all will be wrong. This is superstitiously believed. கோணிக்கோணிகொடுப்பதிலுங் கோணாமற்காணி கொடுப்பதுஉத்தமம். It is better to give a little (காணி) with a good will than much (கோணி) with reluctance. கோணக்கோணஇழுக்க, inf. To distort the limbs, features, &c., as cramps, convulsion, &c. கோணிக்கொடுக்க, inf. To give unwillingly. (c.) முகத்தைக்கோணவைக்க, inf. To avert the countenance. 2. To make a wry face. முகங்கோண, inf. To look sour, harsh. கோணல், v. noun. Crookedness, wryness, obliquity, deviation, deffection, வளைவு. 2. A hump; a hump-backed person, கூன். 3. Obliquity of mind, deceit, guile, மாறுபாடு (சது.) கோணல்குணங்கல், v. noun. Uneasiness of mind. (c.) கோணல்வாசல்--கோணவாசல், s. A winding gate. (c.) கோணல்வாயன், s. (fem. கோணல்வாய் ச்சி.) A wry mouthed man. 24)

cngkṭṭm (p. 155) s. Uneasiness, sickness, bodily pain, வியாதி. 2. The agony of death, மரணாவஸ்தை. 3. Difficulty, trouble, straits--as சங்கடம். (Sa. Sankosht'a.) (c.) அவன்வெகுசங்கட்டமாய்க்கிடக்கிறான். He is at the point of death. 24) *

tōtakam (p. 264) s. (Sa. Toda.) Vexation, pain, uneasiness of body or mind, வருத்தம். 2. (சது.) Guile, fraud, deceit, வஞ்சகம். 3. [prov.] Immodesty, lewdness, மரியாதை யின்மை. தோதகத்தி, s. [sometimes தோதகை.] A quarrelsome, immodest woman. தோதகன், s. A deceiver, a bad paymaster. தோதகி, s. [fem.] An unhappy, vexed woman. நான்தோதகியேன்பிறந்தேன். Why was I born to a vexed life? தோதகம்பண்ண, inf. [prov. தோதக மாட.] To be immodest--as a woman. 26) *

ney (p. 279) s. Grease, fat, unctuousness, oiliness, நிணம். 2. Ghee, clarified butter, கிருதம். (c.) 3. (சது.) Blood, உதிரம். 4. The fourteenth lunar asterism, சித்திரைநாள். நெய்யாமழுவாத்தீர்த்துக்கொள்ளுதல். Getting a matter decided by the ordeal. கையிலிருக்கநெய்யிலேகையிடுவானேன். When the thing stolen is found in the hand, why put the hand in (hot) oil? நெய்க்கடல், s. [also சர்ப்பிசமுத்தி ரம்.] One of the seven oceans, that of ghee. See கடல். நெய்க்கலசம், s. A ghee-pot. நெய்க்குடம்--நெய்ப்பானை, s. A large ghee-pot. நெய்குடமுடைந்ததுநாய்க்குவேட்டை. The breaking of the ghee-pot is food for the dog; One's loss is another's gain. நெய்க்கொட்டை, s. See நெய்க்கொட் டான். நெய்க்குழம்பு, s. Thick broth seasoned with ghee. 2. Thick ghee. நெய்ச்சட்டி, s. A chatty for frying. நெய்சாடி, s. A ghee-jar. நெய்ச்சாதம்--நெய்ச்சோறு, s. [poet. நெய்யலி.] Rice boiled in ghee, &c. நெய்ச்சிக்கு, s. Indigestion caused by eating ghee, it adhering to the bowels. நெய்ச்சுண்டு, s. A small portion of ghee sticking to the pot. See சுண்டு. 2. A small vessel for measuring ghee. நெய்த்திரி, s. A wick inserted in ghee and burned in the temple, or waved for a light before the idol. நெய்த்துடுப்பு, s. A kind of spatula. See துடுப்பு. 2. (R.) A vessel for oil; used by torch bearers. நெய்பூசுதல், v. noun. Smearing a vessel with ghee and holding it in the fire for purification. (p.) நெய்ப்பற்று--நெய்ப்பிடி--நெய்ப்பிடி ப்பு. v. noun. Greasiness, stickiness of ghee, &c. 2. Being fat or corpulent, as a person. நெய்ப்பீர்க்கு, s. A creeping plant. See நுரைப்பீர்க்கு. நெய்மீன், s. A fish, Peixe serra. நெய்யாடுதல், v. noun. A woman daubing herself with ghee. See நெய்விழா. நெய்யிலேவேகவைக்க, inf. To boil in ghee. நெய்விழா, s. A ceremony in which women daub themselves with ghee, before bathing, after child birth. (p.) நெய்விழுது, s. Butter, as first prepared from cream. நெய்விளக்கு, s. A lamp with ghee-in the temple, &c. நெய்வைத்தல், v. noun. Making medicated ghee, கிருதம்வைக்குதல். 2.
