alu (p. 28) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. n. To be discouraged, dispirited, harassed, wearied, fatigued, tired with a person or thing, to prove tedious, அலைக் கழிவுபட. அய்யா மிகவும் அலுத்தோம் அலுத்தோமே. My lord, we are greatly fatigued. (ஸ்காந்.) அலுப்பு, v. noun. Weariness, discouragement, தொய்வு. 30)

āyācam (p. 39) s. Fatigue, weariness, faintness, lassitude, languor, weariness of mind, இளைப்பு. Wils. p. 118. AYASA. 2. Dissatisfaction, displeasure, மனவருத்தம். 3. Regret, துக்கம். (c.) நான்சொன்னதுமக்காயாசமாயிருக்கிறதா? Do you feel displeased at what I said? ஆயாசந்தீர, inf. To be relieved after fatigue, to be refreshed. 31)

āṟṟl (p. 43) s. Strength, power, prowess, ability, வலிமை. 2. Energy, spirit, முயற்சி. 3. Abundance, much copiousness, மிகுதி. 4. Wisdom, knowledge of divine things, ஞானம். 5. Stability, fixedness, firmness, நிலையுடைமை. For the verbal meanings of this word, see under ஆற்று. v. ஆற்றுவாராற்றல் பசியாற்றல் அப்பசியை மாற்றுவா ராற்றலிற்பின். Though the fortitude with which those who practise austerities endure their hunger is very great, yet it is inferior to the energy of the generous who feed the hungry. ஆற்றல்கேடு, s. Great weakness from sickness, great fatigue, வலியழிவு. (c.) ஆற்றறுக்க, inf. To deprive one of power, reduce his strength, &c., desert him in time of need, வலிகெடுக்க. 69)

iḷai (p. 56) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. n. To tire, grow weary, be fatigued, exhausted, to languish, தொய்ய. 2. To grow emaciated, be lean, meagre, &c., மெலிய. 3. To be worn out with age, sickness, &c., to become decrepit, தளர. 4. To become poor, be worn out--as land by continued cultivation, want of manure, &c., சக்திகுறைய. 5. To grow weak and wanting in luxuriance or fruitfulness--as trees, rice, &c., to fade--as a color, வளங்குறைய. 6. To fail before a foe or rival, to yield to superior force, தோற்க. ஒருத்தனுக்கொருத்தனிளையான். One is not inferior to the other, one will not yield to the other (they will fight till they die, except they to parted). இளைத்தோய, inf. To be exhausted from over-exertion. இளைப்பு, v. noun. Weariness, fatigue, exhaustion, faintness, மெலிவு. இளைப்பறுதி, s. Recruiting, recovery from fatigue. இளைப்பாயிருக்க, inf. To be wearied. இளைப்பாற, inf. To rest, take rest, repose, இளைப்புத்தணிய. இளைப்பாறுமண்டபம், s. A room for rest or repose--1. For idols after a procession, before they are set in the usual place. 2. For kings, or other distinguished personages after journey. to wash their feet, &c. before entering their house, வசந்தமண்டபம். இளைப்பாற்ற, inf. To refresh, cause to rest, show civilities, &c. to travellers or weary persons, இளைப்பொழிக்க. வழியிளைப்பாற்ற, inf. To entertain and refresh travellers, offering them a seat, water to wash their feet, fanning them, &c. மன்றலந்தென்றல்வீசி வழியிளைப்பாற்றினாளே. She (the Ganges) refreshed them by causing the fragrant south wind to blow. (பாரதம்.) இளைப்பாற்றி, s. Rest, resting, repose, cessation, இளைப்புத்தணிகை. இளைப்புற, inf. To be fatigued, to grow weary. 10)

uẕ (p. 67) க்கிறேன், ந்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To practise, learn by practice, பழக. 2. To exert energy, use endeavors, persevere, execute, முயல. 3. To labor, work hard, வேலைசெய்ய. 4. To follow any kind of business--as husbandry, merchandise, manufacture, &c., தொழில்நடத்த. 5. To discharge the duties of an office, உத்தியோகஞ் செய்ய. 6. uẕlu (p. 67) --உழல், கிறேன், உழன்றேன், வேன், உழல, v. n. To whirl, revolve, சுழல. 2. To play, be in motion, to swing as a door on its hinges, &c., ஆட. 3. To wander, roam, to be unsettled, be agitated, சுற்றித்திரிய. 4. To oscillate, vibrate, அசைய. 5. To waver, be anxious, to be vexed, worried, மனஞ்சுழல. 6. To be in a state of suffering and distress--as the soul in connexion with births, to revolve through various transmigrations, பிறவியிற்சுழல. உழலாமனனும். An unwavering mind-(நைட.) உழலூசல்போல. Like an agitated swing-(மறைசை.) சமுசாரக்கவலைகொண்டுழலுகிறான். He is troubled with family cares. ஒக்கவுழன்றான். He has labored or suffered together with another. உழற்சி, v. noun. Whirling, revolving, turning, சுழற்சி. 2. Roaming, wandering, சுற்றித்திரிகை. 3. Oscillation, vibration, ஆடுகை. 4. Doubt, wavering, anxiety, agitation, fear, மனச்சுழற்சி. 5. Suffering, distress, வருத்தம். (p.) உழன்றறுக்க, inf. To labor hard, strive with might and main. 2. To become skilled or dexterous by practice. உழன்றி, s. A stick fastened under the cow's neck with a hole for the tether to play in. உழன்றுகிடக்க, inf. To be loosened, to be useless. உழன்றுவர, inf. To be tossed to and fro--as the soul in births, or as one in various cares and troubles; to grow tired, fatigued, faint. 14)

[prov.] A hooked kind of paddle for weeding corn, களைகளை யுமாயுதம். களைஞர், s. The base, villains, wretches, rogues. களைதீர--களைதெளிய--களையாற, inf. To shine as the face of a person or idol, from the influence or indwelling of a deity, பிரகாசமதிகரிக்க. 2. To increase, as the phases of the moon, சந்திரகலைவளர. களைவாரி, s. A tool for weeding, களைப்பறிக்குங்கருவி. முகக்களை, s. Lustre of countenance. சூரியகளை, s. Brightness of the sun. தெய்வகளை, s.
