First fruits of a rice-crop, a handful of which when boiled, and before eating, is presented in oblation to a lamp, personifying the god of fire, முதல்விளைச்சற்காணிக்கை; commonly புதிர், for புதியகதிர், [ex புதுமை.] புதிதாக்க, inf.
