kurngku (p. 124) s. [adjectively குரக்கு, in poetry.] A monkey, வானரம். 2. A climbing plant, முசுமுசுக்கை. 3. An animal in general--as குரங்கம், குராகம். குரங்கின்கைப்பூமாலை. A flower-garland in the hands of a monkey; i. e. a thing of value with one who knows not its use. குரங்குக்குந்தன்குட்டிபொன்குட்டி. Even to a monkey her young is as gold; i. e. one thinks highly of his own. குரங்குதன்குட்டியின்கையைக்கொண்டுபதம்பார்க்கி றதுபோலப்பார்க்கிறான். He tests it by another, as a monkey does a new object by the hand of her young. குரங்குமனம், s. A monkey-mind, retaining its grasp, notions, &c., without inquiry, or discrimination. குரக்குமுகம்--குரங்குமுகம்--குரங்கு மூஞ்சி, s. A monkey face. குரக்குவலி--கொறுக்குவலி, s. A kind of disease with which monkeys are commonly said to be affected. குரங்காட்டம், s. Apishness; apish tricks, antics, &c. 2. v. noun. Harassing, annoying, treating one as a mere monkey. குரங்காட்டமாட--குரங்காட்டங்கொள் ள--குரங்காட்டம்பண்ண, inf. To annoy, to treat one as a monkey. குரங்குகடியன், s. [prov.] A cocoanut, injured at the top, as if by a monkey, squirrel, &c., பழுதுற்றதேங்காய். குரங்குச்சம்பந்தம், s. The mode of a monkey's hold, grasp, &c., to which the hold of the soul on God is sometimes compared.--Note. The hold of a God on a soul is compared to that of a cat on its young. குரங்குச்சேட்டை--குரங்குச்சேஷ்டை, s. Mean, monkeyish tricks--as scratching and eyeing carefully; apish imitation. குரங்குச்சேட்டைபண்ண, inf. To play apish tricks; to act meanly; to mimic, in a low manner. குரங்குப்பிடி, s. A firm grasp--as that of a monkey. 2. Dogmatism in opinion, பிடிவாதம். 3. Urgency, importunity. குரங்குவலி, s. Numbness and pain in the limbs with shivering; a spasmodic affection, incident to puerperal women, ஓர்நோய். 26)

cṇppu (p. 157) s. [loc. vul.] Flax, hemp, as சணல். சணப்பநார், s. Fibres, or strings of flax. சணப்பன், s. A flax-dresser. சணப்பன்வீட்டுக்கோழிதானேவிலங்குமாட்டிக்கொ ண்டது. The hemp dresser's hen has entangled itself by scratching in the hemp-said of a person who involves himself in difficulties through his own folly. சணப்புத்திரி, s. A hempen wick or match. (Limited.) பூஞ்சணப்பு, s. A luxuriant plant of Indian hemp. 75) *

coṟi (p. 212) கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், ய, v. n. To itch, tingle, as severe itching, நமை யுண்டாக. 2. v. a. To scratch in order to allay itching, சுறண்ட. 3. (fig.) To crave, solicit meanly, கெஞ்சிக்கேட்க. (c.) சொறிகட்டை, s. [prov.] A rubbing stone or post, for cattle. சொறிகட்டையானவன், appel. n. A mean, spiritless person; (lit.) a rubbing post. சொறிகரப்பன், s. Scurf that causes intense itching. சொறிசிரங்கு, s. Small itch. See சிர ங்கு. சொறிந்துகொடுக்க, inf. To urge, incite, pat. சொறிந்துகொண்டிராமல்சுறுக்காகச்செய். Do not scratch over it, but do it quickly. சொறிந்துதேயாதஎண்ணெயும் பரிந்திடாதசோறும் பாழ். Oil not well rubbed in, and rice given without kindness, are lost. சொறிவு, v. noun. pṟṇṭu (p. 303) கிறேன், பறண்டினேன், வேன், பறண்ட v. a. [com. for பறண்டு.] To scratch with nails, talons, claws, &c., to tear up by scratching. See சுறண்டு. 35)

piṟāṇṭu (p. 319) கிறேன், பிறாண்டினேன், வேன், பிறாண்ட, v. a. [prop. பறாண்டு.] To scratch with the nails, claws, &c., sometimes விறா ண்டு. (Jaff.) அவள்நிலம்பிறாண்டிக்கொண்டிருந்தாள்....She was scratching the ground with her toe, or finger, from the shame. 10)

molu (p. 368) --மொல்லு, s. [indeclin.] An imitative sound. 2. A noise made with the hands, or feet preparatory to a fight, இரைச்சல். மொலுமொலெனல், v. noun. Indicating an unceasing, troublesome talking; also scratching, ஒலிக்குறிப்பு. 2. Indicating a noisy clamor. மொலுமொலென்றுபிடித்துக்கொள்ளுகிறது..... Attacking one with great noise and bustle. 2)
