tūngku (p. 252) கிறேன், தூங்கினேன், வேன், தூங்க, v. n. To hang, to hang on, to be suspended, cling to, தொங்க. 2. To be drowsy, to slumber, to sleep, துயில. 3. To be sluggish, inactive, idle, dull, slow, heavy, மந்தமாயிருக்க. 4. To nod, hang the head from drowsiness, தலைசாய. 5. To droop, as a person, or animal, through sorrow, hunger, &c., சோர. 6. To droop, as a plant, be withered, வாட. 7. (fig.) To be fixed, as a fortress, wall, ஓர்நிலை யாய்நிற்க. 8. To tarry, delay, loiter, hang about, தாமதிக்க. 9. To be drowsy and move the body from side to side, as an elephant, அசைவாட, (c.) தூங்கினவன்கன்றுசேங்கன்று. The calf, of the sleeper is but a bull-calf (having been changed while he slept). தூங்கணி, s. A jewel formed of hanging globules of gold and precious stones, தொங்கணி. தூங்கிப்போக, inf. To droop as a person, beast, plant, &;amc., வியாபாரந்தூங்கிப்போயிற்று. Trade is low, on the decline, &c. தாழ்வாரந்தூங்கிப்போயிற்று. The verandah is too low. தூங்காமை, v. noun. (neg.) Vigilance, Watchfulness. தூங்காவிளக்கு, s. A lamp burning day and night. தூங்கிசைச்செப்பல், s. A kind of melody of the metre called வெண்பா. தூங்கிசைத்துள்ளல், s. A melody of the கலிப்பா metre. தூங்கிசையகவல், s. A melody of the ஆசிரியப்பா, metre. தூங்கிருள்நடுநாள், s. Midnight, thick or abiding darkness. தூங்கிவிழ, inf. To nod through drowsiness. (c.) தூங்குபாலம், s. A floating bridge; sometimes தூக்குபாலம். தூங்குமஞ்சம், s. A hanging cot or bed. தூங்குமூஞ்சி, appel. n. A stupid, sleepy fellow. (c.) தூங்கல், v. noun. Dancing, கூத்து, 2. Drowsiness, &c.; used in all the meanings of the verb.

nittirai (p. 277) s. Sleep, drowsiness, repose. See தூக்கம். W. p. 467. NIDRA. அயர்ந்தநித்திரை, deep sleep; கள்ளநித்திரை, feigned sleep; சோற்றுநித்திரை, sleep from eating. (c.) நித்திரைதூக்கித்தூக்கியடிக்கிறது. Sleep causes him to nod. அவன்நித்திரைபோகிறான். He is sleeping. ஒத்தவிடத்தில்நித்திரைகொள். Sleep in a level place. (Avv.) நித்திராதேவி, s. The goddess of sleep, நித்திரைக்கதிதேவதை. நித்திராலு, s. (St.) A sleeper, தூங்குவோன். நித்திரைகொள்ள--நித்திரைசெய்ய, inf. To sleep. நித்திரைசோதிக்க, inf. To examine if one is asleep. நித்திரைசுகம், s. Enjoyment of sleep. நித்திரைசோகம், s. Drowsiness, tendency to sleep. நித்திரைதெளிய, inf. To recover from drowsiness. நித்திரைவிழிக்க, inf. To be wakeful, to watch; to keep a watch-night, &c., as கண்விழிக்க. 27)

mrm (p. 344) s. A tree, shrub, plant, any growing vegetable, விருட்சம். 2. Wood, timber, வெட்டுமரம்.--Note. There are three divisions of tree, ஆண்மரம், பெண்மரம், அலி மரம், which see. (c.) மரத்துப்பழம்மரத்தடியிலேவிழும். The fruit of a tree falls near its roots; i. e. sin follows the sinner. மரக்கணு, s. A knot in a tree. மரக்கலம், s. A wood-pecker, ஓர்புள். மரச்செப்பு, s. A wooden box, பரணி. மரச்செறிவு, s. A grove, சோலை. 2. A tree in general, மரப்பொது. (சது.) மரத்துக்கிடக்க, inf. To be paralyzed, stiffened. மரத்துப்போக, inf. To become numb, insensible, hard--like wood, விறைக்க. 2. To be amazed, to be panic-struck, பிரமிக்க; [from Sa. Mru, to die.] (c.) மரத்தோல்--மரப்பட்டை, s. A wooden shield, நெடும்பரிசை. மரவட்டணை, s. A wooden tray, தட்டு. மரவட்டை, s. A wood-leech, a milleped. See ஆயிரக்காலி; [ex அட்டை.] மரவணில், s. A large species of squirrel living in trees--different from மலையணில்; [ex அணில்.] மரவண்டு, s. A kind of boring beetle in trees. மரவள்ளி, s. Tapioca plant, Janipha Manihot. மரவாரை, s.
