அபராதம்
aparātam (p. 16) s. Offence, transgression, fault, guilt, insult, affront, குற்றம். Wils. p. 44. APARAD'HA. 2. Amercement, penalty, mulct, தெண்டம்; [ex அப, et ராத, to accomplish.] (சத். 38.) என்னபராதத்தைப்பொறுத்திரட்சிப்பாய். Pardon my fault and save me. அபராதஞ்செய்ய, inf. To transgress, offend. உல்லங்கனம்
ullangkaṉam (p. 66) --உல்லிங்கனம், s. Exceeding, transgressing, passing over, கடக்கை. Wils. p. 163. ULLANGANA. 2. Disgrace, reproach, அவமதிப்பு. 3. Contempt, நிந்தை. (p.) உல்லங்கனப்பட, inf. To be dishonored, to be ashamed. சபையிலேயுல்லங்கனப்பட்டான். He has been dishonored in the assembly. 49)
கிருத்தியம்
kiruttiyam (p. 111) s. Act, actions, performances, operation, தொழில். 2. Moral actions good or bad, involving future retributions, கன்மக்கிரியை. 3. A course of conduct, நடக்கை. 4. Work, business, employment, லௌகிகவேலை. 5. Religious rules, prescribed duties, கடமை. 6. Rites, ceremonies, &c., religious acts or practice, சடங்கு. 7. The operations of the deity--popularity in the characters of creator, preserver and destroyer; but in the mystic parts of the Agama system, the works of obscuring and enlightening the soul are superadded. Wils. p. 243. KRUTYA. தன்கிருத்தியந்தான்பார்க்கவேண்டும். Each one must perform his appropriate duties, personal, social, relative, civil, &c. கிருத்தியகர்த்தா, s. An operating deity, or a god who performs either of the five great operations in the universe. கிருத்தியகர்த்தாக்கள், s. (pl.) Agents who carry on operations in the universe; also, those of the விஞ்ஞானகலர் and பிர ளயாகலர் class of souls that have advanced so as to be cleansed from மலம், and permitted to be operative. கிருத்தியப்பிழை, s. Misdeeds, misbehaviour. 2. Failure or transgression in the performance of prescribed rites, ceremonies or other duties. கிருத்தியமில்லாதவன், s. One who does not practise the rites of the religion. ஒருகிருத்தியமுமில்லாதவன். One unemployed. கிருத்தியமுடிக்க, inf. To perform prescribed duties--as religious rites, ceremonies, &c. கிருத்தியம்பண்ண--கிருத்தியம்நடத்த inf. To perform the works of creation, &c..--as a deity, ஐந்தொழில்செய்ய. The direct object of this work is fancied to be; 1. To cleanse the soul from its moral defilements. 2. To cause it to experience the fruit of former actions. 3. To give it a temporary rest. 4. To produce an equilibrium between the good and evil actions of the soul. 5. To emancipate it from the பாசம் entanglements. (சிவ. சி.) 2. To perform works, rites, &c., சடங்குசெய்ய. 3. To perform the duties of one's calling, தொழில்செய்ய. 4. To perform the funeral rites for a deceased ancestor, உத்தரகிரியைசெய்ய. பஞ்சகிருத்தியம், s. The five operations of deity under various names, forms and modifications, viz.: 1st. சிருட்டி or படை த்தல், the work of creating or transforming matter, evolving it from the primitive Maya, producing words, furnishing the soul with its appropriate body, according to its actions in a previous birth, &c. In the popular system, this office is ascribed to Brahma. 2d.திதி or காத்தல், the work of preserving, usually ascribed to Vishnu. 3d. சங்காரம் or அழித்தல், the work of destroying, or of reducing the universe to the primitive Maya, through numerous involutions, --as earth into water, water into fire, &c. This office is ascribed to உருத்தி ரன், who by his worshippers is identified with Siva whom they consider supreme. 4th. திரோபவம் or மறைத்தல், the work of obscuration, or the veiling of the soul in moral darkness, and beclouding the understanding, so that the divine being cannot be perceived, while the mind attracted and illuded by visible and sensual objects, is excited to the performance of new actions, by which absolute liberation from பாசம் entanglements is prevented, and connection with Maya and its consequent transmigrations--except where the sanchita (சஞ்சிதம்) of former births is exhausted --is indefinitely prolonged. This is ascribed to மயேச்சுரன். 5th. அனுக்கிரகம் or அருளல், this is a work of benevolence as exerted for the benefit of the soul in furnishing it with appropriate bodies by which to expiate the guilt of former actions, though obscuring it with திரோ பவம், while it is thus working itself clear, at length withdrawing the veil and showing it that all visible and sensual objects are illusory and deceptive; also annihilating the passions and exciting disgust toward the objects of sense, and utter indifference to all mundane affairs, and thus causing entire cessation from physical and moral actions, and maturing it for final emancipation, and union with the Supreme. It is ascribed to சதாசிவம். சமுசாரகிருத்தியம், s. Domestic affairs, household business. 10) *

tvṟu (p. 228) s. Slip, false step, missing, tripping, losing one's hold, falling, tumbling over, விழுகை. 2. Turning from the course, deviation, swerving, obliquity, aberration, விலகுகை. 3. Deviation from moral rectitude, an erroneous act or course of conduct, misdemeanour, transgression, delinquency, misconduct, நெறிகடக்கை. 4. Mistake, error, blunder, inadvertency, பிழை. 5. Blame, fault, குற்றம். 6. Failure in expectation, or purpose, &c., வழு. தவறில்லாமை, s. Blamelessness. 2)
தாறுாமறு
tāṟuāmṟu (p. 236) s. (Tel.) Confusion, derangement, disorder, ஒழுங்கின்மை. 2. Perverseness, contrariety, untractableness, stubbornness, முருட்டுத்தன்மை. 3. Impropriety. transgression, disorderly conduct, அதிக கிரமம். 4. Insolence, இறுமாப்பு. (c.) தாறுமாறாய்ப்பேச, inf. To give indirect answers. 2. To contradict one's self, to prevaricate. 3. To talk nonsence, to speak absurdities. 4. To abuse, to use affronting words, insuiting language. தாறுமாறானநடக்கை, s. Perverse, insolent, or disorderly conduct. தாறுமாறுக்காரன், s. A perverse, insolent, disorderly person. 9) *
தோஷம்
tōṣam (p. 263) --தோடம், s. Fault, defect, blemish, blight, குற்றம். 2. Sin, offence, transgression, heinous crime, guilt, பாவம். 3. Disorder or vitiation of the humors of the body; or defect in the functions of the bile, phlegm, or wind--often fatal, and always dangerous attended with low pulse, prostration and cold extremities; dyscrasy, சன்னி. W. p. 426. DOSHA. (c.) 4. Humors of the body, also called, பிணி. 5. Typhus fever, ஓர்சுரம். (Ains.) முத்தோஷம், s. The three humors of the body: 1. வாதம், wind, acid or hypochndriacal humors. 2. பித்தம், bile. 3. சிலேட்டுமம், phlegm. See திரிதோஷம். The முத்தோஷம் or three defects in composition: 1. அதிவியாப்தி, or மிகைப்படக்கூறல். 2. அ வியாத்தி or குற்றங்கூறல். 3. அசம்பவம் or மாறு கொளக்கூறல், which see. தோஷகுணம், s. A cold prostrate state of the body, from supposed derangement of its juices. தோஷக்காய்ச்சல், s. See காய்ச்சல். தோஷங்கொள்ள, inf. To be in a torpid state. தொனு, s. [prov.] Suppressed bellowing of a cow. உக்காரம். See தனு. தொனுப்போட, inf. To roar as a bull; to vociferate. (c.) 21)

patitam (p. 294) s. A lapse from caste or religion, வருணாச்சிரமந்தறுவகை. W. p. 498. PATITA. பதிதபாவனன், s. He who removes transgressions; [addressed to God in prayer.] பதிதன், s. One who has lost caste, or renounced his religion; one fallen from virtue, an apostate, reprobate, traitor. 25) *
