aṟi (p. 33) கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், ய, v. a. To know, understand, comprehend, recognize, be acquainted with; have a carnal knowledge of, தெரிய. (c.) புத்தியறிந்தபெண். A marriageable girl. வல்லமையறிவோம். We will find out which is the most competent, (by way of bravado.) தன்னையறியுமறிவேயறிவாகும் பின்னையறிவது பேயறி வாமே. To know one's self is knowledge, other knowledge is inferior. அறிகருவி, s. The organs of sense. அறிகுறி, s. A sign, mark, token, symbol. அறிஞன், s. A man of knowledge, especially of divine things, அறிவுடையோன். 2. A poet, புலவன். 3. A sage, முனிவன். 4. Mercury the planet, புதன். 5. Buddha, புத்தன். அறிதுயில், s. A kind of sleep or meditation, in which the person understands all that passes about him--an attribute supposed to belong to the gods and sages, especially to Vishnu. அறிதுயிலமர்ந்தமூர்த்தி, s. Vishnu, திருமால். அறிமடம், s. Indisposition to reduce to practice what is learned. 2. Inability to recall to memory, stupidity in learned persons from infatuation. 3. Feigned ignorance. அறிமுகம், s. Acquaintance with persons (and in vulgar use) with things, slight familiarity. அறியக்கொடுக்க, inf. To inform against one, indict, impeach. 2. To communicate information, instruction, &c. அறியாமை, neg. v. noun. Ignorance. அறியாவினா, s. One of the six forms of interrogation--as when one asks for information. அறியொண்ணாமை, neg. v. noun. The impossibility of knowing. அறிவினா, s. One of the six forms of interrogation; questioning in order to teach. அறிகை, v. noun. Knowing, understanding, knowledge, உணர்வு. 50)

intiriyam (p. 46) s. [contracted into இந்தியம்.] An organ of sense, or organ of the body, பொறி; [ex இந்திர, the soul or self, or what is with difficulty restrained by the soul.] There are three kinds of இந்திரியம், or sensual organs; viz.: those of perception, those of action and the intellectual organs. Wils. p. 133. INDRYA. I. ஞானேந்திரியம், the organs of sense or perception are five; viz.: 1. சக்கு, சட்சு or கண், the eye, the organ of sight having உருவம் or visible forms as its object. 2. சோத்திரம் or செவி, the ear, the organ of hearing, having சத்தம், (sound) as its object. 3. ஆக்கிராணம் or மூக்கு, the nose, the organ of smelling, having கந்தம், (odors) as its object. 4. சிங்குவை or நா, the tongue, the organ of tasting, having இரசம், (flavors) as its object. 5. தொக்கு or துவக்கு or உடம்பு, the surface of the body, the organ of feeling, having பரிசம், (touch or contact) as its object. II. கன்மேந்திரியம், or organs of actions are five; viz.: 1. வாக்கு, the mouth or organ of speech. 2. பாதம், the feet. 3. பாணி, the hands. 4. பாயுரு, the anus. 5. உபஸ்தம், the genitals. III. அந்தக்கரணம் or அந்தரிந்திரியம், the intellectual powers are four; viz.: 1. மனம், the organ of thought or perception, emotion. 2. புத்தி, understanding, conception, reason, intellect--the organs of examination, investigation, reflection, comparison, device, experiment. 3. ஆங்காரம், emotion, self-importance, inflation, presumption, energy, impulse, the organ of excitement, resolution, effort, &c. 4. சித்தம், volition, will, purpose, determination, that power of the mind which leads to the accomplishment of objects. 2. The sperm, seed of men, விந்து. இந்திரியகோசரம், s. Perceptibleness, capability of being determined by the senses, இந்திரியத்துக்குவிஷயமாகுகை. Wils. p. 132. INDRYAGOCHARA. இந்திரியக்காட்சி--இந்திரியப்பிரத் தியட்சம், s. Evidence of the senses. இந்திரியத்துவாரம், s. The inlets or avenues of the senses--as means of perception. இந்திரியநிக்கிரகம், s. The subjugation of the passions, இந்திரியமடக்குகை. இந்திரியநுகர்ச்சி, s. Enjoyment of sense, இந்திரியானுபவம். இந்திரியாசங்கம், s. uṇr (p. 59) --உணரு, கிறேன், உணர்ந்தே ன், வேன், உணர, v. a. To be conscious, to feel mentally, to perceive, understand, comprehend, arrive at, or possess full and perfect knowledge, அறிய. 2. To discern, distinguish, பகுத்தறிய. 3. To think, reflect or consider, meditate, contemplate, நினைக்க. 4. To feel, perceive by the touch, பரிசித்தறிய. 5. To learn, acquire knowledge, கற்றறிய. 6. To become reconciled-as man and wife, be reunited after a love quarrel, ஊடறீர. 7. To become free from delusion, doubt, error, &c.--as in waking from sleep; recovering from languor; acquiring spiritual perception, &c., தெளிய. (p.) தெய்வப்புலவனுக்குநாவுணருஞ்சித்திரவோடாவிக்கு க்கையுணரும். The tongue of the inspired poet and the hand of the painter perform their functions intuitively. [prov.] உற்றுணரெங்களிலொருவன். Insanity, intoxication, infatuation, bewilderment, உன்மத்தம். உணருமறிவு, s. Instinct, intuition. 2. Ready apprehension, cleverness. உணர்ந்தோர்--கற்றுணர்ந்தோர், s. The learned, persons of profound erudition, men of ability. உணர், v. noun. Feeling, perception, knowledge, intellect, உணர்வு. உணர்ச்சி, v. noun. Consciousness, feeling, intuition, perception, discernment, understanding, sensibility, knowledge, wisdom, judgment, experience, reason, learning, &c., acquiring knowledge, உணர்வு. என்காலிலேயுணர்ச்சியில்லை. My leg is devoid of feeling, affected by paralysis, &c. உணர்தல், v. noun. Being reconciled--as man and wife after a lovequarrel. ஊடலுணர்தல்புணர்தலிவைகாமங்கூடியார்பெற் றபயன். Disunion, reconciliation and the pleasures of love, those are the fruits of matrimony. (குறள்.) உணர்த்தி, s. [vul. prop. உணர்ச்சி.] Feeling. உணர்த்தியற்றவன், s. A man past feeling, one devoid of sensibility. உணர்த்தியுள்ளவன், s. A man of sensibility, one who is affected by the wants of others. உணர்வு, v. noun. Feeling, consciousness, intuition, perception, understanding, knowledge by means of the senses, உணர்கை. 2. Clear discernment, intellect, reason, தெளிவு. 3. Cessation from sleep, love quarrels, &c., ஊடலுந் துயிலுநீங்கல். 4. Acquiring of knowledge, learning, experience, acquaintance with science, &c., கற்றுணர்கை. 5. A sense, புலன். 6. Separation, நீங்கல். உணரவுணருமுணர்வுடையாரைப்புணரப்புணருமா மின்பம். To be united in friendship with the prudent who think of what they ought to think is productive of the highest felicity. (நாலடி.) உள்ளத்துணர்வுடையான். A man of great wisdom. உணர்வுகேடு, s. Forgetfulness, listlessness, inattention, உணர்ச்சியின்மை. 2. Want of understanding, அறிவீனம். நுண்ணுணர்வு, s. An acute perception. தேர்ந்தவுணர்வினன், s. A man of improved understanding. தளர்ந்தவுணர்வினன், s. A dull man, one slow of understanding. 114)

uṟu (p. 67) கிறேன், உற்றேன், வேன், உற, v. n. To be, to exist, உண்டாக. 2. To feel, experience, suffer, enjoy, experience sensations--as heat, cold, பரிசிக்க. 3. To be in contact, to join closely, unite with, combine, கூட. 4. To happen, occur, befall -- as a good, or evil, சம்பவிக்க. 5. To accrue--as riches, சேர. 6. To profit, turn to account, பயனுற. 7. To obtain, கிடைக்க. 8. To arrive at, reach, வர. 9. To belong to peculiarly, to be appropriate, பொருந்த. 1. To be situated at, or be in a place, இரு க்க. 11. To dwell, reside, தங்க. (p.)-Note. This word is often joined to verbals or verbal roots to form new verbs, and the infinitive and other parts are used adverbially to express intensity, entireness, &c.--as குழுற்றது, it surrounded; ஊடுறச்சென் றது, it pierced, or penetrated. உறச்சிவந்தது. It is become very red. உறவளைக்கும்வில். A bow bent to the utmost. சுகமுறுநித்திரை. Refreshing sleep. கிலேசமுற்றேன். I became sorrowful. விருப்பமுற்றேன். I have conceived a desire. இன்பமுற்றேன். I was rejoiced. பயமுற்றேன். I grew frightened. நோயுறும்போது. When sickness befalls-பாவியருறும்பழி. The evil endured by the wicked for their sins. (இராமா.) சொல்லலுற்றேன்--சொல்லுற்றேன். I said, I have treated on--a formal or dignified mode of expression among authors. மீகீழிதழுறப்பம்மப்பிறக்கும். The letters ப் and ம் are produced by the contact of the upper and lower lips. (நன்.) முந்தினார்பின்னுறக்கடுகவோடினான். He ran so swiftly that all who started before him were left behind. உறவற்ற, inf. To dry up entirely. உறுந்தருணம்--உறுந்தறுவாய், s. Emergency, exigency, particular juncture. உறுவதுகூறல், v. noun. Giving an indirect answer to a question, எண்வகை விடையிலொன்று. உற்ற, rel. part. Uncommonly devoted, trusty. உற்றசெய்தி, s. True report, true news. உற்றது, appel. n. The thing as it is, the whole of it. உற்றதுசொல்ல, inf. To speak the truth. உற்றதுசொல்லஅற்றதுபொருந்தும். By telling the truth, misunderstandings are adjusted; truth is the surest resource through life. உற்றபண்புரைப்போர், s. Messengers, தூதர். (p.) உற்றமனிதன், s. A fit or proper person to transact an affair, one who can be trusted. உற்றவன், s. A friend, a relation, உறவோன். உற்றவிசேஷம், s. A proper or suitable expression. உற்றளவு, s. An accurate, genuine, fair measure, சரியளவு. 2. Genuine state of things, real news, உள்ளதன்மை. உற்றறிய, inf. To feel by the touch, be sensible to touch--as plants, &c., பரிசித்துணர. 2. ēṭu (p. 78) s. The petals of a flower, பூவி தழ். 2. (சது.) The eye-lids, கண்ணிமை. 3. (c.) Cream, பாலேடு. 4. The leaves of the palmyra or talipet tree, பனையோலை. 5. The leaf of a book, கோத்தவேடு. 6. An ola book, ஏட்டுப்புஸ்தகம். ஏட்டிலேகயிறுசாத்துதல். Putting the string between the leaves of a book and noticing the passage on which it lies, to ascertain one's luck, determine one's choice, &c. ஏட்டுச்சுரைக்காய்கறிக்காமா. Will pumpkin (as written) in the book serve for curry? i. e. the bare rehearsal of a privilege does not amount to its enjoyment. ஏடுகோக்க, inf. To string the leaves of an ola book. ஏடுசேர்க்க, inf. To make an ola book. ஏடுபடர்ந்தபால்--ஏடுபடிந்தபால், s. Milk in which cream is formed. ஏடுவார, inf. To pare olas. ஏடெழுத, inf. To write the alphabet for a child, for which a lucky day is chosen, ceremonies attended, a feast provided for relatives, &c. 2. To begin a book for a learner. ஏட்டின்படிப்பு--ஏட்டின்கல்வி, s. Learning by rote, learning which requires frequent reference to books, learning without understanding what is learnt. கள்ளேடுபோட, inf. kiruttiyam (p. 111) s. Act, actions, performances, operation, தொழில். 2. Moral actions good or bad, involving future retributions, கன்மக்கிரியை. 3. A course of conduct, நடக்கை. 4. Work, business, employment, லௌகிகவேலை. 5. Religious rules, prescribed duties, கடமை. 6. Rites, ceremonies, &c., religious acts or practice, சடங்கு. 7. The operations of the deity--popularity in the characters of creator, preserver and destroyer; but in the mystic parts of the Agama system, the works of obscuring and enlightening the soul are superadded. Wils. p. 243. KRUTYA. தன்கிருத்தியந்தான்பார்க்கவேண்டும். Each one must perform his appropriate duties, personal, social, relative, civil, &c. கிருத்தியகர்த்தா, s. An operating deity, or a god who performs either of the five great operations in the universe. கிருத்தியகர்த்தாக்கள், s. (pl.) Agents who carry on operations in the universe; also, those of the விஞ்ஞானகலர் and பிர ளயாகலர் class of souls that have advanced so as to be cleansed from மலம், and permitted to be operative. கிருத்தியப்பிழை, s. Misdeeds, misbehaviour. 2. Failure or transgression in the performance of prescribed rites, ceremonies or other duties. கிருத்தியமில்லாதவன், s. One who does not practise the rites of the religion. ஒருகிருத்தியமுமில்லாதவன். One unemployed. கிருத்தியமுடிக்க, inf. To perform prescribed duties--as religious rites, ceremonies, &c. கிருத்தியம்பண்ண--கிருத்தியம்நடத்த inf. To perform the works of creation, &c..--as a deity, ஐந்தொழில்செய்ய. The direct object of this work is fancied to be; 1. To cleanse the soul from its moral defilements. 2. To cause it to experience the fruit of former actions. 3. To give it a temporary rest. 4. To produce an equilibrium between the good and evil actions of the soul. 5. To emancipate it from the பாசம் entanglements. (சிவ. சி.) 2. To perform works, rites, &c., சடங்குசெய்ய. 3. To perform the duties of one's calling, தொழில்செய்ய. 4. To perform the funeral rites for a deceased ancestor, உத்தரகிரியைசெய்ய. பஞ்சகிருத்தியம், s. The five operations of deity under various names, forms and modifications, viz.: 1st. சிருட்டி or படை த்தல், the work of creating or transforming matter, evolving it from the primitive Maya, producing words, furnishing the soul with its appropriate body, according to its actions in a previous birth, &c. In the popular system, this office is ascribed to Brahma. 2d.திதி or காத்தல், the work of preserving, usually ascribed to Vishnu. 3d. சங்காரம் or அழித்தல், the work of destroying, or of reducing the universe to the primitive Maya, through numerous involutions, --as earth into water, water into fire, &c. This office is ascribed to உருத்தி ரன், who by his worshippers is identified with Siva whom they consider supreme. 4th. திரோபவம் or மறைத்தல், the work of obscuration, or the veiling of the soul in moral darkness, and beclouding the understanding, so that the divine being cannot be perceived, while the mind attracted and illuded by visible and sensual objects, is excited to the performance of new actions, by which absolute liberation from பாசம் entanglements is prevented, and connection with Maya and its consequent transmigrations--except where the sanchita (சஞ்சிதம்) of former births is exhausted --is indefinitely prolonged. This is ascribed to மயேச்சுரன். 5th. அனுக்கிரகம் or அருளல், this is a work of benevolence as exerted for the benefit of the soul in furnishing it with appropriate bodies by which to expiate the guilt of former actions, though obscuring it with திரோ பவம், while it is thus working itself clear, at length withdrawing the veil and showing it that all visible and sensual objects are illusory and deceptive; also annihilating the passions and exciting disgust toward the objects of sense, and utter indifference to all mundane affairs, and thus causing entire cessation from physical and moral actions, and maturing it for final emancipation, and union with the Supreme. It is ascribed to சதாசிவம். சமுசாரகிருத்தியம், s. Domestic affairs, household business. 10) *

kīẕ (p. 113) s. Place or space, under, below, beneath, downward, low or nether; the bottom, கீழிடம். 2. The east, கிழக்கு. 3. A pit, a hole, பள்ளம். 4. The nether regions, the worlds below, கீழுலகம். 5. Forgetfulness, மறதி. 6. Bridle, reins, bit, கடிவாளம். 7. A low caste, கீழ்மக்கள். (p.) கீணர், s. [கீழ்நர்.] Low, mean people, the base, the vulgar, எளியோர். கீழது, s. That which is under or below; bottom. கீழதுமேலதாக்கிப்போட, inf. To overturn, upset, capsize; to overthrow, to defeat. கீழறுக்க, inf. To burrow, to excavate, to make a subterranean passage, to undermine, பூமியிற் சுரங்கஞ்செய்ய. 2. (fig.) To undermine, to injure by any underhand, clandestine means, சதிசெய்ய. கீழறை, s. An under-ground room, a cellar, நிலவறை. 2. A cavern, a cell, a hole or passage under ground, வளை. கீழாக, inf. To become depressed, to sink--as a stalk, a heap of muck, &c.; to deteriorate, to waste--as the body by use or disease; or as property, &c., தாழ் வடைய. கீழாக--கீழாய s. Under, below, beneath. கீழாயிருக்க, inf. To be below, to be mean, to be inferior. கீழாலவத்தை, s. 'Descending states of the soul.' State and degree of consciousness, commencing with objective sensations and descending to subjective feeling and contemplation, the mind receding farther and farther from objective impressions and associations. Hindu physiologists fancy that the mind descends from its seat in the forehead to its other seats, the neck, breast, umbilicus and terminus rectum. (தத்துவக். சிவ. சி.) கீழிருக்க, inf. To lie under, to be under one's dominion or control. கீழாறு, s. A river under ground, பூமி யினுள்ளோடுமாறு. 2. A river in the Congu country, கொங்குதேசத்தாறு. கீழாறுகொண்டுபோயிற்று. The under ground river has carried it away--said of things lost without knowing how. கீழுக்குப்போக, inf. To be diminishes, to be reduced. அவன்புத்தியுங்கல்வியும்வரவரக்கீழுக்குப்போகி றது. His understanding and knowledge are more and more diminishing. கீழோங்கி, s. [prov.] An inferior class or fishermen--as distinguished from மே லோங்கி, a higher rank. கீழ்நோக்க, inf. To look downward, to tend downward, கீழ்ப்பார்க்க. 2. To be sensual, grovelling, to tend toward secularities, இழிவானதைவிரும்ப. 3. To be on the decline--as to wealth, &c.; to go to ruin, to come to naught, தாழ்வடைய. கீழ்நோக்கித்திட்ட--கீழ்நோக்கியேச inf. To use obscene language, to assail with very indecent speech. கீழ்நோக்கு--கீழ்நோக்கம் v. noun. Looking downward, downward tendency, கீழ்ப்பார்வை. 2. Low or grovelling pursuits, a base inclination; underhand, clandestine purpose. கீழ்மேலாக, adv. Upside down. கீழ்ப்பட, inf. To be subdued, to yield, to be submissive, to become inferior, கீழ்ப்படிய. 2. To be subject, to be subordinate, to submit to, அடங்க. 3. To be degraded, mean, base, இழிவுபட. கீழ்ப்படிய--கீழ்ப்பணிய inf. To submit, to yield, to obey. கீழ்ப்படியாத்தனம்--கீழ்ப்படியாமை, s. Disobedience, insubordination. கீழ்ப்படிவு, v. noun. Submission, obedience, subordination, subjection, கீழ்ப்ப ணிவு. 2. Docility, tractableness, அமைவு. கீழ்ப்படுத்த--கீழ்ப்படியப்பண்ண, inf. To subdue, to subject, to subordinate, to subjugate, to quell, அடக்க. 2. To lower, to bring down, to reduce, தாழ்வுபடு த்த. 3. To degrade, ஈனப்படுத்த. கீழ்நோக்கினநட்சத்திரம், s. [in astro.] A lunar mansion looking downward-opposed to மேனோக்கினநட்சத்திரம். They are twelve in number. (உள்ளமு.) கீழ்நோக்கினராசி, s. [in astrol.] A zodiacal sign which looks downward.-Note. These signs, as well as the கீழ்நோக் கினநட்சத்திரம், are favorable for planting esculent roots and digging wells. கீழ்மேற்றென்வடல், s. The east, west, north and south. 42)

kuruṭu (p. 126) s. Blindness, பார்வையில்லா மை. 2. Dimness (in gems); opacity, obscurity, காந்தியில்லாமை. 3. The worst side of a thing, cloth, &c., the unpolished, undressed, unfinished side, குருட்டுப்பக்கம். 4. A blind or ignorant fellow (in contempt), புத்தியீனன். குருட்டுநாட்டுக்கொள்ளி. A fire-brand in a country of blind people; i. e. a light among the illiterate. குருட்டுப்பூனைவிட்டத்திற்பாய்ந்தாற்போல. As a blind cat attempted to jump at the beam. குருட்டுமாட்டைத்தெய்வங்காக்கிறது--மேய்க்கிறது. The deity tends the blind cow. கோல்எடுத்தபிள்ளைகுருட்டுப்பிள்ளை. That child playing with the sticks is a blind child; i. e. is likely to hurt itself. குருடன், s. A blind person. 2. A name of Venus; lit. the squint-eyed, சுக்கிரன். (சது.) 3. Dhrutarashtra--as congenitally blind, திருதராட்டிரன். குருடன்பெண்டிரைஅடித்தாற்போல. Like the blind man striking his wife; i. e. attempting, but hitting another object. குருடாக்க, inf. To blind; to stupefy. குருடி, s. A blind female, கண்ணில் லாள். குருட்டுக்கண், s. Blind eye. 2. Blindness of the sight. பிறவிக்குருடன், s. A person born blind. மனக்குருடு, s. Mental blindness; ignorance, illusion. குருட்டாட்டம்--குருட்டுத்தனம், s.. Blindness; absence of mind, infatuation. குருட்டாட்டமாடுகிறான். He plays blindman's buff. குருட்டாட்டமாய்ப்பேசுகிறான். He speaks foolishly, without understanding. குருட்டுத்தீர்ப்பு, s. Foolish judgment; judgment passed by an ignorant man. குருட்டுநியாயம், s. Wrong reasoning; wrong judgment. குருட்டுப்பத்தி, s. Superstition, blind zeal, bigotry. குருட்டுமுத்து, s. A dim, defective pearl. குருட்டுக்கல்லு, s. A turbid, dim gem. குருட்டுச்சாயம், s. Faint colors, in dying, மங்கற்சாயம். குருட்டுப்பக்கம், s. [prov.] Blind side, the wrong side of a printed cloth, &c. குருட்டுமைப்பட--குருட்டுமையாக, inf. To be dim or obscure--as the writing on olas, by wiping the coloring off before it is dry. 2. To become obscure--as writing to an aged person. குருடுதடவ, inf. To grope, to search and be unable to find, as if blind (said in reproach). குருட்டடி, s. Success, attained at random; a blind hit. குருட்டடியாய்ச்சொல்லிப்போட்டான். He spoke rightly at random. குருட்டடியடிக்க, inf. To speak at random, yet, commonly, to the point. குருட்டுவாக்கு, s. Signs of death; omens of death--as pointed out by the shastras. குறிகண்டுநோதல், v. noun. [in parturition.] Labor pains after the discharge of liquor amnii, or the first presentation. குறிகாண, inf. kuṟṟm (p. 132) s. Fault; moral or physical imperfection, blemish, defect, deformity. பி ழை. 2. Crime, misdemeanor, guilt, தீங்கு. 3. Impurity; ceremonial or moral defilement--as cause of offence to the deity, of blight to plants, &c., சூதகம். 4. Reproach, stigma, charge, accusation, blame, குறை. 5. Amercement, mulct, fine, அபராதம். 6. (சது.) Sickness, நோய். முக்குற்றம், s. The ten faults or defects in a literary composition. 1. குன்றக்கூறல், a partial statement--saying too little. 2. மிகைபடக்கூறல், redundancy-saying too much. 3. கூறியதுகூறல், tautology--repetition. 4. மாறுகொளக்கூறல், inconsistency--contradictory statements. 5. வழூஉச்சொற்புணர்த்தல், the employment of improper or inappropriate words and terms. 6. மயங்கவைத்தல், obscurity, mystification. 7. வெற்றெனத்தொடுத்தல், emptiness, barrenness. 8.மற்றொன்றுவிரித்தல், digression--introducing another subject. 9. சென்றுதேய்ந்திறுதல், gradual loss of vigor and tone. 1. நின்றுபயனின்மை, useless statements; verbosity; bombast. இமைக்குற்றங் கண்ணுக்குத்தெரியாது. The eye does not see the defect of the eyelashes; i. e. one's own errors, and those of his family and friends, are unnoticed. குற்றங்கடிய, inf. To avoid guilt. குற்றங்களைய, inf. To free from errors. குற்றங்காட்ட, inf. To expose faults. குற்றங்காண, inf. To find fault. 2. To blame, to be blameable, &c. குற்றஞ்சாட்ட--குற்றஞ்சுமத்த--குற் றப்படுத்த--குற்றமேற்ற, inf. May you perish--a form of imprecation. கெட்டாற்குற்றார்கிளையிலுமில்லை. In poverty, friends are not found even among relations. கெட்டேனே. Ah! I am lost, ruined; I an undone. கெட்டுப்போனபார்ப்பானுக்குச் செத்துப்போனப சுவைத்தானங்கொடுத்தாற்போல. As if a dead cow be presented to a ruined brahman; said of an unprofitable pursuit by an incompetent person. கெட்டும்பட்டணஞ்சேர். Though to be ruined, go to the town. தரித்திரங்கெடும்படி. That the misery of poverty may cease. ஈற்றுயிர்மெய்கெடும். The final compound letter is dropped. கெடுகுடிசொற்கேளாது. A family given up to ruin will never listen to advice. கெட்டகுடியேகெடும். A ruined family will sink more and more. கெடுகாலம், s. A time of ruin, evil, drought, &c.; also used reference to retribution of evil deeds which is to come immediately. கெடுமதி, s. An offensive smell. கெட்டரூபம், s. A deformed, monstrous or horrid shape. கெட்டவியாதி, s. A bad, malignant, dangerous disease. 2. The venereal or other filthy disease. கெட்டகேடு, s. Utter ruin, uselessness, unworthiness, &c.--usually as an exclamation கெட்டுப்போனவள், s. A seduced woman, a bad woman. கெடுதலை, v. noun. Ruin, அழிவு. 2. Damage, loss, detriment, injury, நஷ்டம். 3.
