A base woman who outwardly appears faithful to her husband. ஆசாரச்சாவடி, s. King's court, கொலுமண்டபம். ஆசாரத்துடனிருக்க, inf. To remain uncontaminated, unpolluted after ablution. ஆசாரபோசன், s. A person of very respectable and dazzling appearance. ஆசாரப்பிழை, s. Ill-manners. 2. Want of cleanliness. ஆசாரப்புடவை, s. Silk cloth, or some other, worn when the daily rites are performed. The former is deemed the more sacred and not needing to be dipped in water for purification. Those unable to keep silk for the purpose, wear cotton cloths and dip them every time to purify them. ஆசாரவாசல்--ஆசாரவாயில், s. The outer hall in a king's court, where his subjects may assemble. 2. A room at the outer gate, or place of entrance of a house, தலைவாசல். ஆசாரோபசாரம், s. Civilities, politeness, compliments. 48)

If there be a heavy girdle [from money], there will be fear in the way. கரைமடி, s. A shore-net. தட்டுமடி, s. A deep sea-net. மடிகசக்க--மடிபிசைய, inf. To rub the udder of a cow to fit it for milking. மடிகழுவ, inf. To mollify and wash the udder of a cow after calving. மடிகோல, inf. To make a large lap or fold for the reception of any thing to be given, showing greediness. மடிசுரக்க, inf. To form, as milk in the udder. மடிச்சீலை--மடிப்பை, s. A purse kept in the girdle. மடிபிடி, v. noun. Fisticuffs, scuffle, seizure of one by the waist-cloth. 2. Difficulties and quarrels between persons, சண்டை. மடிபிடிக்க, inf. To seize one by the waist-cloth. 2. To dispute, recriminate. மடிபிடிவழக்கு, s. Mutual complaint, application of two parties at once for redress, &c. மடிப்பிச்சை, s. Alms received in the cloth. 2. Begging very humbly. தெய்வமே இந்தப்பிள்ளையை மடிப்பிச்சையாய்த்தர வேணும். O God! please to give the child [to us] as alms. மடிப்பெட்டி, s. [prov.] A betel-pouch carried in the waist-fold. மடிமாங்காய்போடுதல், v. noun. Charging one falsely, பொய்யாய்க்குற்றஞ்சாற்றல். 2. [prov.] Giving bribes, பரிதானங்கொடுத்தல். மடியிறக்குதல்--மடிவிடுதல், v. noun. Distending of the udder, before calving. மடியிலேகடட, inf. To fasten up in the waist-cloth. 2. To pocket by little and little, dishonestly. மடியிலேபிள்ளையைவைக்க, inf. To take a child in arms. மடியிற்பணம், s. [also மடிப்பணம்.] Money in pocket. மடியேற்குதல்--மடியேந்துதல், v. noun. snāṉm (p. 214) s. Bathing, ablution, &c., முழு க்கு. W. p. 955. SNANA.--Note. The brahmans count seven kinds of ஸ்நானம். or purification: 1. வாயவியஸ்நானம், a purification by being covered with dust raised by the trampling of cows, and by the wind. 2. திவ் வியஸ்நானம், that produced by the sprinkling of rain in the sun-shine. 3. மனஸ்நானம், a purification of the mind by meditation. 4. மந்திரஸ்நானம், sprinkling of water on a sick person while hearing the Veda read. 5. பூமிஸ்நானம், sprinkling with dust from the vicinity of sacred trees, shrubs, &c., as ஆல், அரசு, துளசி, &c. 6. அக்கினிஸ்நானம், purification by applying the ashes of cow-dung. 7. யோகஸ்நானம், from fixed contemplation of the Yogi. ஸ்நானகன், s. (Christ. usage.) The Baptist. ஆரோக்கியஸ்நானம், s. Bathing after recovery from sickness. (Colloq.) ஞானஸ்நானம், s. (Christ. usage.) Baptism; [ex ஞானம்.] ஞானஸ்நானம்பண்ண, inf.
