To scratch--as fowls; to tear up earth--as birds, pigs, &c., to rub or scrape with the foot either walking or standing; to rub a thing under foot; to turn up or draw earth with the foot, காலினாற்சீக்க. 2. To wipe, wipe off, to rub, sweep superficially, to brush or graze, பெருக்க. 3. To expel, dispel, efface, root out, obliterate, exterminate, extinguish, destroy, அறப்பண் ண. (Compare கால்சீக்க.) 4. To cleanse, absterge, செப்பஞ்செய்ய. (c.) சீத்துக்கொண்டுபோக, inf. To scratch or rub against the ground, &c., with the feet or toes. 2. To graze--as a ball or stone. சீத்துநடக்க, inf. The daily purification in idol worship, is of five kinds, viz; 1. பூதசுத்தி, cleansing the body, accompained by muntras. 2. ஆத்துமசுத்தி, mental purity by invocations. 3. திரவியசுத்தி, cleaning of the vessels, with attending incantations. 4. இலிங்கசுத்தி, the changing of the flowers, &c., before the idol, by which it is made pure. 5. மந்திரசுத்தி, by muntras repeating the mystic Om, and adding the five lettered நமசிவாய, or salutation to Siva. சுத்திசெய்ய--சுத்திபண்ண, inf.
