அதைரியம்
atairiyam (p. 12) s. [priv. அ.] Timidity, want of fortitude, dispiritedness, தை ரியமின்மை. Wils. p. 24. AD'HAIRYA. 12)
உலாவு
ulāvu (p. 66) கிறேன், உலாவினேன், வேன், உலாவ, v. n. To move about, walk or ride for recreation, exercise, &c., to pass to and fro, walk at leisure, take a jaunt, an excursion, a stroll, a ramble, சாரிபோக. 2. To go in procession, to parade the streets--as festal processions, ஊர்வலம்வர. உலாயதுகலாபமஞ்ஞை. The long tailed peacock gently moved along. காருலாவுசோலை. A forest of trees so lofty that the passing clouds move in their tops. நின்கோலுலாவுநிலத்து. In the country over which thy sceptre is wielded-- (தண்டி.) திரைசென்றுலாஞ்சேர்ப்ப. O! ruler of the coasts on which the waves sport. (உலரம் for உலாவும்.) காதளவுசென்றுலாவுங்கண். An eye that looks every where, (lit.) the eye that passes to the ear. உலாவித்திரிய, inf. To walk about idly, or at leisure. உலா, v. noun. Procession, moving about for recreation or exercise, a ramble, a jaunt, an excursion, a stroll, an airing, சாரிவருதல். 2. A species of poem in the நேரிசைக்கலிவெண்பா, in which the praises of a hero are sung by women of the seven different ages, ஓர்பிரபந்தம். உலாப்போதல், v. noun. A horse that readily enters water, நீரிலஞ்சாமற்செல்லுங்குதிரை. (p.) சலக்கடுப்பு, s. Strangury, நீர்க்கடுப்பு. சலக்கழிச்சல், s. Incipient diabetes. சலக்கிரீடை, s. Sporting or gambling in water, மகளிரோடுநீர்விளையாடல். சலக்குடர்--சலக்குடல், s. The urinary bladder--oppo. to மலக்குடர். சலக்கூர்மை, s. Urinary salt, அமரி யுப்பு. சலக்கோவை, s. Absorption of water in the system. 2. Dropsy, நீர்க்கோவை. சலங்கொதித்தல், v. noun. Boiling of water. 2. Heated state of the urine. சலங்கோக்க, inf. To be imbibed--as matter in a boil; or absorbed--as water in the system after bathing. (c.) சலசம், s. The lotus, தாமரை; [ex ச லம், water, et சம், what is born.] சலசலோசனன், s. The lotus-eyed. (p.) See உலோசனம். சலசயனம், s. Sleeping on the water. சலசயனன், s. Vishnu, விஷ்ணு. சலசரம், s. A fish in general, மீன் பொது. (நிக.) 2. Pisces of the zodiac, மீனவிராசி. (சது.) [ex சலம், water, et சரம், that which moves.] சலசர்ப்பிணி--சலசூசி, s. A leech, நீ ரட்டை; [ex சர்ப்பிணி, that which moves; ex சூசி.] சலசாதிகள், s. Aquatic creatures, நீர் வாழ்வன; [ex சாதி, what is created.] சலசூத்திரம்--சலயந்திரம், s. Water works, hydraulics. சலசை, s. Lukshmi--as கமலை, பது மை, கோகனகை, &c., இலக்குமி; [ex சலசம், et ஐ, fem. affix.] சலஞ்சாதிக்க, inf. To cherish or harbor malice, வன்மஞ்சாதிக்க. சலதரம், s. A cloud, முகில், (நிக.) 2. Ocean, கடல். 3. (சது.) A pond, a tank, கு ளம்; [ex சலம், water, et தரம், what holds or contains.] சலதாரை, s. A passage for water, an aqueduct, a channel, a conduit, நீர்க்கால். (c.) 2. Urinary passage, urethra, சிறுநீர்த் தாரை. 3. A stream or jet of water, நீரோட்டம். See தாரை. சலதி--சலநிதி--சலபதி, s. Sea, ocean, கடல்; [ex Sa. தி, what holds; ex நிதி, receptacle; ex பதி, lord.] சலதோஷம், s. Disease arising from the influence of the cold humors in the body, சலுப்பு. 2. (c.) Cold, catarrh, தடிமல். See தோஷம். சலதோஷங்காண, inf. to catch cold. சலஸ்தம்பம்--சலத்தம்பனம், s. Stopping the power, or counteracting the natural properties of water, by enchantment. See தம்பனம். சலஸ்தம்பவாதம், s. Dysury, a disease, ஓர்நோய். சலஸ்தானம், s. A pond, a lake, ஏரி. சலத்துவாரம், s. The urinary passage, urethra, சிறுநீர்த்தாரை. 2. A drain, a conduit, சலதாரை. See துவாரம். சலந்திரட்ட, inf. To freeze water into ice by the touch--ascribed to holy men and to virgins or chaste women of former times. (R.); [ex திரட்டு, consolidate.] சலபயம், s. Danger of inundation, of drowning, &c. (p.) சலபாதை--சலவாதி, s. Urgency to make water or void excrement; [ex Sa. Ba'dha.] (c.) Compare சலோபாதை. பெரியசலவாதிக்குப்போக, inf. To go to stool, oppos. to சின்னச்சலவாதி. சலபானம், s. Water for drinking; [ex பானம்.] சலபானம்பண்ண, inf. To drink water. சலபுட்பம், s. Fish, (lit.) the water flower; an expression used by those who do not eat fish, மீன். சலப்பிரவாகம்--சலப்பிரளயம், s. A flood of water, a deluge, inundation. சலப்பை, s. The urinary bladder; [ex பை, bag.] சலமலம், s. Urine and excrement. (c.) 2. (R.) The sponge, நீர்ப்பஞ்சு. சலமறிப்பு--சலவடைப்பு, v. noun. Stoppage of urine. சலமொட்ட, inf. To be firmly resolved on revenging an injury. (p.) சலம்பிடிக்க, inf. To collect--as matter in a boil, சீல்கொள்ள. 2. (R.) To affirm or deny obstinately, பிடிவாதஞ்செய்ய. சலம்பிதுக்க, inf. [prov.] To squeeze out the pus or matter from a boil. (c.) சலமிறங்க, inf. To pass--as urine. 2. To flow off-as the superfluous humors by the urethra. சலம்புரி, s. Chank, சங்கு. (M. Dic.) சலம்விட, inf. To pass or void urine. சலராகம், s. Reddish color, pale red; [ex இராகம், red color.] சலராசி, s. The sea, ocean, a collection of water, கடல்; [ex இராசி, collection.] சலரோகம், s. Diabetes, நீரழிவு. சலவர், s. Inhabitants of maritime districts, (lit.) the water-people, or sea fairing men. Compare பஃறியர், திமிலர், கடலர், &c. சலவாதி, s. An angry person, தணியாக் கோபமுள்ளவன். 2. An obstinate, pertinacious person, குரோதமுடையோன். (p.) 3. [ex சலம் for சஞ்சலம், grief, et வாதி, declarer.] A person of the servile tribe employed to announce one's death to the relations, friends, &c., மரணசெய்தி சொல்வோன். 4. See சலபாதை. (c.) சலவாழைக்காய், s. Fish, (lit.) the water-plantain. See சலபுட்பம். சலாசயம், s. [in phys.] One of the five ஆசயம் of the body, the receptacle of the urine, the bladder. See பஞ்சாசயம். சலாதாரம், s. A pool, lake, reservoir of water--as சலதரம். (R.) 41) *

tairiyam (p. 261) s. [sometimes தயிரியம்.] Steadiness, courage, encouragement, confidence, &c., துணிவு, W. p. 447. DHAIRYA. 2. A horse's trot, குதிரையின்கெச்சைநடை. (Sa. Dhowrya.) தைரியக்காரன்--தைரியசாலி, s. A courageous person. தைரியங்கொடுக்க, inf. To animate, to encourage, to embolden. தைரியங்கொள்ள--தைரியப்பட, inf. To take courage, to be encouraged, to cheer up. தைரியஞ்சொல்ல, inf. To encourage by advice. தைரியலட்சுமி, s. Lukshmi, as the goddess of valor. See இலட்சுமி. தைரியவான், s. A courageous man, as தைரியசாலி. மனத்தைரியம், s. Fortitude, courage. 12) *
