These are: 1. சுகதபேதம், difference between the head and its ramifications, &c.; 2. சுசாதிபேதம், difference in the different species, as between one tree and another; 3. விசாதிபேதம், difference in things unlike, as between trees and stones. பேதம், 6. A six-fold division. This is as follows: 1. சாதிபேதம், division, distinction of caste or tribe; 2. சமய பேதம், or மதபேதம், differences of religion; 3. மந்திரபேதம், varieties of incantations; 4. மனப்பேதம், difference of disposition, thought, taste, or inclination; 5. சாத்திர பேதம், difference in science, doctrine, &c.; 6. உலகபேதம், varieties of worlds.
