தண்டை
tṇṭai (p. 223) s. Tinkling ankle-rings, காலணியிலொன்று. (c.) 2. Ratan shields. பிரப்பங்கேடகம். (சது.) 3. [improp. for தண்டா.] Trouble, vexation, தொந்தரை. 4. Tail of some animals, வால். தண்டைமுறுக்கிக்கொண்டுவந்தான். He came with great spirit, as an animal lashing its tail. தண்டைக்காரன், s. A troublesome person. 2. (R.) An impostor. தண்டைபோட--தண்டையிட, inf. To put on ankle-rings. தண்டைமானம்--தண்டைமாரம், s. (com. தண்டமானம்.) Raising, coiling. waving of the tail--as beasts when mettlesome, angry, &c. தண்டைமானங்கொள்ளுகிறகுதிரை. A mettlesome horse. தண்டைமானங்கொள்ளுகிறபுலி. A tiger that lashes with its tail. 7)

tḷai (p. 229) s. A tie, fastening, bandage, கட்டு. 2. Fetter, shackles for the legs, கால்விலங்கு. (c.) 3. Enclosure of an unblown flower, மல ர்க்கட்டு. 4. Imprisonment, immuring, சிறை. 5. The காற்கொலுசு, ankle-rings. 6. A foot trinket, காற்சிலம்பு. 7. Men's locks of hair, ஆண்மயிர். 8. [prov.] A partition, division, in rice fields. வயலின்பிரிவு. (c.) 9. A tie, a bond, (met.) a bond of union, பந்துகட்டு. 1. [prov.] The office of an உடையார். 11. The metrical connection of the last syllable of any foot with the first of the succeeding, one of the six செய்யுளுறுப்பு, வரு ஞ்சீரின் முதலசை யொன்றியுமொன்றாமலுங்கூடிநிற்பது. --Note. The poetic தளை are of seven kinds embracing four classes. I. ஆசிரி யத்தளை. connexion of ஆசிரியம் verse of two species. 1. நேரொன்றாசிரீயத்தளை, combination of simple syllables in the ஆசிரியம் connexion, or of one simple ஆசிரியம் foot, with another. 2. நிரையொன்றாசிரியத்தளை, combination of compound syllables, or the connexion of one compound ஆசிரியம் foot, with another. II. வெண்டளை, connexion of வெண் பா verse, also of two species. 1. வெண்சீர் வெண்டளை, combination of genuine வெண்சீர் foot, or of one வெண்சீர் foot with another foot, biginning with a simple syllable 2. இயற்சீர்வெண்டளை, combination of simple, or ஆசிரியம் feet, or connexion of an ஆசிரியம் foot ending with a compound syllable with another foot beginning with a simple syllable, or vice versa. III. கலித்தளை, connexion of the கலிப்பா verse, being single, viz.; that of வெண்சீர் foot ending with a syllable with another foot beginning with a compound syllable. IV. வஞ்சித்தளை, connexion of வஞ்சி verse of two species. 1. ஒன்றியவஞ்சித்தளை, combination of compound syllables, or of one வஞ்சி foot with another foot beginning with a compound syllable. 2. ஒன்றாதவஞ்சித்தளை, combination of a compound with a simple syllable, or of one வஞ்சி foot with another beginning with a simple syllable. For syllables and feet and their different species, see அசை and சீர். வளைபட்டகைமாதொடு மக்களெனுந் தளைபட்டழியத் தகுமோதகுமோ. Should I perish by being bound with my bracelet-adorned wife and children. தளைகழற்றிவிட, inf. To unloose or take off fetters. தளைத்தட்ட, inf. To fail or be defective, as a connection in verse, தளைதவற. தளைநார், s. [prov.] A foot brace for a tree-climber. தளைபட--தளைப்பட, inf. To be imprisoned, to be taken captive, சிறைப்பட. 2. To be bound, confined, restrained, கட்டுப்பட. தளைப்பூட்ட--தளைபோட, inf. To fetter, to shackle. தளைப்பொருத்தம், s. Harmonious combination of the தளை, in verse, தளையினிணக்கம். தளையவிழ, inf. To blossom as a flower, பூமலர. 2. To be unbound, to be unrestrained, கட்டவிழ. தளைவைக்க, inf. [prov.] To invest one with the office of உடையார். தளைவார், s. A thong of leather to hamper the feet of an animal when grazing. 2. As தளைநார். 53)

A flat gem or bead; a precious stone of a superior kind--as a diamond, or ruby. மணிகன்னிகை--மணிகர்ன்னிகை, s. [Sa. Manikarnika.] A sacred tank at Benares, காசித்தீர்த்தத்தினொன்று. மணிகிலுக்க, inf. [prov.] To ring a hand-bell. மணிக்கட்டு--மணிபந்தம், s. The wrist. மணிக்கணக்கு, s. The hour of the day by the clock or bell. மணிக்கயிறு, s. A bell-rope. 2. A whiplash with knots in the end, as அஞ்சுமணிக் கயிறு. மணிக்கிரீபன், s. One of Kuvêra's children, குபேரன்மகன். மணிக்கூடு, s. A frame, stand or covering for a bell, மணிதூங்குமாடம். 2. [prov.] A clock, as containing a bell, நாழிகைவட் டில். 3. A clock-case, கடிகாரக்கூடு. மணிக்கோவை, s. A string of beads, a necklace. மணிதுருவிடுதல், v. noun. Perforating, or drilling pearls and gems. மணிநேரம்--மணிவேளை, s. An English hour. மணிபூரகம்--மணிபூரம், s. [in Hin. physiol.] One of the six regions of the body--that of the navel, நாபிஸ்தானம். W. p. 632. MAN'IPOORA. மணிமகுடம், s. A crown set with precious stones, a crown worn by great monarchs. 2. [prov. also மணிமுடிச்சு.] The button of the child's first book on olas. See மகுடம். மணிமங்கலம், s. Name of a district, ஓரூர். மணிமந்திரௌஷதம், s. Three remedies for serpent's bites--snake-stone, incantation and medicine. மணிமாலை, s. A pearl-necklace, முத்து வடம். 2. A poem composed of twenty வெண்பா, and forty கலித்துறை. See பிரபந்தம். மணிமேகலை, s. One of the five classic poems. See under காவியம். மணியடிக்க, inf. To strike or ring a bell. மணியெறித்தல், v. noun.
