āṭṭai (p. 38) s. [in combination.] A year, வருடம். (c.) ஆட்டைக்கருமம்--ஆட்டைத்திதி --ஆட்டைத்திவசம், s. The first anniversary funeral ceremony, performed on the same day of the moon on which the person died. (c.) மூவாட்டைநெல், s. Rice three years old. (c.) 17)

ēkōtiṭṭam (p. 77) --ஏகோதிஷ்டம், s. A principal part of the Shradd'ha or funeral rite performed at the house after the அந்தியேட்டி, for the benefit of the deceased, by the sons or other heirs. The officiating brahman personifies the manes of the deceased and receives whatever is presented, which should be sufficient for his support, till the anniversary of the death, during which he should not appear abroad or be seen by the heirs of the deceased whom he represents. kārai (p. 104) s. A kind of thorny shrub, ஓர் செடி. Thorny webera, Webera tetrandra. (mat. Ind.) 2. A fish, ஓர்மீன். The principal kinds of காரை fish are கழிக்காரை, சதுப் புனாங்காரை, பொட்டுக்காரை. 3. Mortar or plaster covering walls, &c., [sometimes spelt காறை.] சுண்ணச்சாந்து. (c.) 4. A slang word used by elephant-keepers for cloth, சீலை. காரைக்கட்டுவீடு, s. A house built of brick and chumam. குத்துக்காரை, s. A small species of காரை shrub. சிறுகாரை, s. A small kind of காரை fish. சன்னகாரை, s. Fine plaster. சுண்ணாம்புக்காரை, s. Overlaying with plaster; flooring with plaster alone, not with brick or stone. சுண்ணாம்புக்காரை ஆடினவீடு, s. A house, the floor of which is plastered, not paved with bricks and stone. பூங்காரை, s. A shrub with fragrant flowers, Gardinia dumetorum. பெருங்காரை, s. A kind of shrub with edible leaves, which are given to brahmans with other leaves, as presents or alms at the anniversary funeral ceremonies, &c. 2. A large kind of காரை fish. மட்டிக்காரை, s.
