An instrument, like a knife, fastened to a plank for cutting in pieces, fish, meat, &c., கறிகுறைக் குங்கருவி. கருக்கரிவாள், s. A jagged sickle. வெட்டரிவாள், s. I will remove the obstacles, obviate objections, break the enchantments which prevent success --as in fishing, &c. வீரனுமவன்றலையறுத்தான். And Veeran cut off his head. இருளறுத்தெழுங்கதிர். The rising sun which exterminates the darkness. அறுமணை, s. An instrument for cutting vegetables, fish, &c. 2. A slut, slatterer. 3. A woman ugly or deformed in features. (c.) அறுவடை, v. noun. The act of reaping the corn. அறுவரி, s. A tax paid at fixed times. அறுவிதி, s. Decision. வழக்கறுக்க, inf. To decide a case. ஆடறுக்க, inf. To slay sheep. அறுப்பு, v. noun. An imprecation of widowhood--in allusion to the sundering of the marriage ornament at the death of the husband, தாலியறுக்கை. 4. The opening of a wound, an open cut, &c., அறுவாய். 5. uṭai (p. 59) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To break a vessel, &c.; to burst, break open, break a bank, &c.; to break lumps, clods, &c.; to break a boil, a blister, the skull or any other flat, solid or massive substance; to split, fracture, தகர்க்க. 2. To break the ranks of an enemy, to defeat, discomfit, disperse, rout, put to flight, இரிக்க. 3. To ruin, impoverish one, கெடுக்க. 4. To untwist, untwine, முறுக்கவிழ்க்க. 5. v. n. To break--as a boil, கட்டியுடைக்க.-Note. உடைய and உடைக்க are not applicable to the breaking of a tree, a branch, an arm or any other long and cylindrical body that is broken off short or asunder. For this meaning see முரிக்க, ஒடிக்க, &c. தண்ணீருடைத்துப்பாய்கிறது. The water has broken (the dam) and flows out. பல்லுடைப்பேனென்றான். He said, I will break your teeth. கட்டுடைக்க, inf. To burst an embankment--as water. பெண்மையுடைக்கும்படை, s. The weapon that dissolves female continency. தலையுடைக்க, inf. To take much pains, mentally--as in abstruse calculations, intricate business. உடைப்பு, v. noun. A breaking, a breach, the bursting of a bank, உடை க்கை. 2. s. A channel out or broken through a dam in a field, disruption, உடைந்தஅறுவாய். 3. Weakness, தளர்ச்சி. தலையுடைப்பு, v. noun. A trouble, some intricate employment. 102)

To cast, throw off, to jerk away under-handed, side-handed, &c.; to toss, cast out--as water from a vessel with force, throw water from a pool, a channel with the feet in watering plants, &c.; to kick a thing away, எறிய. 2. To strike, அடிக்க. 3. To cuff, to strike with the fist, புடைக்க. 4. To cut, cut asunder, cut down, வெட்ட. 5. To pierce, stab, குத்த. 6. To kill, கொல்ல. முரசமெற்றினர். They beat the large drum. கூனனையவள்மார்பிலேயெற்றினவளவில். As soon as she had struck the hump-backed man on the breast-துந்துமியெலும்பைப்பறக்கவெற்றியும். Kicking up the bones of Tuntumi (into the air)-எற்றுதிரை, s. Beating billows. எற்றுபுனல், s. A billowy or rippling body of water. எற்றுநூல், s. A carpenter's line for marking boards, &c., மரமறுக்கப்போடுநூல். எற்றல், v. noun. Throwing off, throwing water from a pool, &c., எற்றல்மரம், s. [prov.] A kind of oblong pail with a long handle, supported by three posts for throwing up water in irrigation. எற்றற்பட்டை, s. [prov.] Basket for irrigation by four or six persons. எற்று, v. noun. Casting, jerking, எறிகை. 2. Warding off, striking off, தட் டுகை. ஓரெற்றிலேயெற்றிப்போட்டான். He cast it away at once. 35)

kiẕi (p. 111) கிறது, ந்தது, யும், ய, v. n. To part, to be slit, rent in shreds, or torn; to be parted --as land by ploughing, &c., துண்டாகக்கிழிய. 2. To part asunder, to separate, இரண்டாக க்கிழிய. 3. To be defeated, to be disappointed, to meet with ill success, to come to nothing, வாயாதுகெட. காரியங்கிழிந்துபோயிற்று--கிழிகிழிந்துபோயிற்று.... The affair is come to nothing. 2. He turns out to be nothing. அவர்கிழிந்தார். He is disconcerted; i.e. can do nothing. (Abusive.) கிழிந்துபோக, inf. To be rent or torn; to go in pieces. கிழிவு, v. noun. A rent, tear, laceration, கிழிதல். 2. Failure; incompetency, ill success, dwindling away, வாயாமை. (The word is sometimes synonymous with இழிவு.) கிழியல், v. noun. Tearing, கிழிவு. 2. s. A thing torn; a tattered garment, &c., கிழிந் தசீலை. 3. A good-for-nothing fellow; a spiritless sluggard--in contempt, பயனற் றவன். 48)

To spirt as drops or particles of water. &c., to splash up, top up, as spray, சிதற. 4. To spring or hop, as fleas, துள்ள. 5. To part, burst, asunder--as a knot, a rope, a fiddle string; to fly apart, burst in pieces, fly off or be struck off, as pieces or sparks, அற. (c.) 6. [prov.] To be broken off, as friendiship; become disunited, வேறுபட. 7. (fig.) To fail, to result unsuccessfully. தவற. முகத்திலிரத்தந்தெறிக்கப்பேசினான். He spoke in anger, the blood flying to his face. பருத்தெறிக்கிறது. The boil throbs; (lit.) jumps. நாக்குத்தெறிக்கப்பேசுகிறான். He speaks wickedly enough to make his tongue burst asunder. பிணிதெறித்துப்போயிற்று. The disease is remedied. பொறிதெறிக்கிறது. Sparks fly out. கண்தெறித்தது. The eye is suddenly blinded; (lit.) broken by lightning &c. தெறிபட்டுப்போயிற்று. It has failed, come to naught. தெறிப்பான். He will burst asunder; a curse. தெறிக்கடிக்க, inf. [prop. தெறிக்கஅடி க்க.] To scatter, disperse, as an army; to beat or hammer so as to cause bursting, or to make a part fly off, to confound, to puzzle in controversy. தெறிக்கப்பேச, inf. To speak so as to offend, to break up friendship. தெறித்தவன், appel. n. A man of cruel conduct; used in cursing. தெறித்துவிழ, s. To strike on some thing in falling. 2. To burst to pieces; spoken of one who so acts as to reader himself liable to a curse. தெறிபதம், s. Spirtling of medicinal oil when boiling. தெறி, v. noun. Spattering, splash, spirt, சிதறுகை. தெறிப்பு, v. noun. Rebound, recoil, flying back, resilence, உதைந்துமீள்கை. 2. Spirit, spatter, splash, dash, சிந்துகை. 3.
