kṉ (p. 102) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To be heavy, to become heavy, massive, solid, thick, hard, injurated, பாரமா யிருக்க. 2. To be thick, close, crowded, numerous, பருக்க. 3. To be abundant, copious, to outweigh, &c., அதிகரிக்க; the infinitive used adverbially expresses very much. கனக்கக்கொடுத்தான். He gave plentifully. கனத்தஉடைமைக்கனர்த்தமில்லை. Solid property will not soon be injured. காரியங்கனத்துக்கொண்டது. The matter has become more serious. குற்றங்கனத்துக்கொண்டது. The crime is aggravated. குரல்கனத்துப்போயிற்று. The voice is become heavy, hoarse--as of one who has reached manhood, one who drinks liquor, &c. கனத்தஆக்கினை, s. Severe punishment. கனத்தகுடி, s. An illustrious and noble family. கனத்தசமுசாரம், s. A numerous family. கனத்ததோல், s. Thick skin--as that of a beast or of the hand, &c., hardened and thickened by labor. கனத்தநாள், s. A critical day in diseases--as the day of new or full moon, &c., when the influence of the planets is unusually powerful, aggravating disease, &c. On such days it is deemed improper to bathe, take medicine, &c. (c.). கனத்தபயிர், s. A thick crop. கனத்தபனி, s. A heavy dew. கனத்தமனிதன், s. A large heavy man. சரீரங்கனத்துக்கொள்ள, inf. To become heavy--as the body, by disease, humors, corpulency, &c. தலைகனத்துக்கொள்ள, inf. To grow heavy--as the head through cold. வயிறுகனத்துக்கொள்ள, inf. To have indigestion. 2. To eat a belly-full, to be well stuffed. 3. To become gravid; sometimes in this meaning, spoken in contempt, of pregnancy from illicit intercourse. கனப்பு, v. noun. [vul.] Thickness, becoming thick, கனம். 2. Weight, heaviness, solidity, gravidity, பாரம். 3. The hardness of a swelling, அழுத்தம். 4. stoutness, lustiness, grossness, கொழுப்பு. 5. Pride, self-importance, இறுமாப்பு. உன்கனப்பெடுத்துப்போடுவேன். I will reduce you. சரீரக்கனப்பு, s. Heaviness of the body--as in plethora, &c. தலைக்கனப்பு, s. Heaviness in the head. வயிற்றுக்கனப்பு, s. Heaviness of the system from indigestion, constipation, &c. 29)

kl (p. 96) --கல்லு, கிறேன், கல்லினேன், கல்லுவேன், கல்ல, v. a. To work away earth, pebbles, &c., gradually, அகழ. 2. To dig out by little and little--as a hole, a tank, &c., to hollow, தோண்ட. 3. To scoop out --as a nut, துருவ. 4. To wash away earth, &c., by little and little-- as following water, நீர்கல்ல. 5. To eat away--as caustic, அரிக்க. 6. [prov.] To catch and tear up the fibre in an ola when writing--as a style by being too sharp. எழுத்தாணிக்கூர்கல்ல. இக்காரங்கல்லிக்கல்லியெடுத்துப்போடும். This caustic will eat away (the proud flesh). மலைகல்லியெலிபிடிக்க. To excavate a mountain to catch a rat; i. e. to take great pains or be at great expense for little profit. கல்லிக்கல்லிப்பாய, inf. To wash away in flowing. கல்லல், v. noun. The act of digging, தோண்டல். 2. s. The noise issuing from a crowd, பேசலாலெழுமொலி. 277)

kẕuttu (p. 98) s. The neck of a person, brute, thing, &c., கண்டம். கழுத்தடி, s. The lower part of the nape of the neck, தோண்மேல். கழுத்தறுக்க, inf. To cut the throat, to server the wind-pipe. முன்விட்டுப்பின்னின்றுகழுத்தறுக்கலாமோ...... Would you bid one take precedence and then cut his throat? ஒருவன்கழுத்திலேகட்டிவிட. To devolve unpleasant consequences on another. 2. To attribute a crime or blame to a person. 3. To impose on another unsaleable goods, or a woman ineligible for marriage. கழுத்திடுகயிறு, s. Halter for a beast. கழுத்திருத்த, inf. To have the neck pressed down with a heavy load. (c.) கழுத்திலேகயிறுபோட, inf. To threaten self-immolation for the purpose of recovering debts, &c. 2. To be very treacherous, insidious, perfidious. (c.). கழுத்துக்குட்டை, s. A neckcloth, a cravat. (c.) கழுத்துக்கொடுக்க, inf. To lay down the neck for another on the block, to subject one's self to inconvenience or danger. 2. To expose one's life by a commission of crime. 3. To submit to the yoke as bullocks. கழுத்துச்சந்து, s. The joint of the neck. கழுத்துச்சுளுக்கு, s. Straining of the ligaments of the neck by violent turning of the head. கழுத்துத்திருக, inf. To wring off the head of a fowl, &c. 2. To throttle, twist the head. கழுத்துநெடியபானை, s. A longnecked pot. கழுத்துப்பட்டிகை, s. A collar, a cape. கழுத்துப்பட்டை, s. The collar of a cloak. கழுத்துப்பருத்திருக்க, inf. To have a thick neck. கழுத்துப்பொருத்தம், s. One of the ten பொருத்தம் for marriage, மணப்பொருத்தம் பத்திலோன்று. (c.) கழுத்துமுறிக்க--கழுத்தைமுறிக்க, inf. To break the neck--spoken of the power, &c., of demons. வேண்டாமென்றுகழுத்தைமுறிக்கிறான். He absolutely refuses, it is very repugnant to his feelings, &c. கழுத்துவெட்டி, s. A cut-throat, a betrayer, an assassin. (c.) கழுத்தூட்டி, s. The throat. (p.) கழுத்தேறுதண்டம், s. A window, பலகணி; [ex கால், wind, et அதர், way.] காலாட, inf. To be active and industrious, முயல. காலாடி, s. An active, industries man, one who is active in movements, affairs, &c., முயற்சியுடையோன். 2. Wanderer, திரி வோன். 3. Title given to the chief of the Paller caste, பள்ளர்தலைவன். காலாட்டம், s. Activity in business, in duty, and consequent properity, மு யற்சி. காலாட்டமுள்ளமாடு, s. An ox that is brisk and ploughs well. காலாணி, s. A corn on the foot. 2. Pegs in the beams of native houses to support the roof. காலாணியற்றுப்போனவன், s. One who is become weak or poor. காலாயுதம், s. A gallinacious fowl, whose foot is its weapon, கோழி. காலாழி, s. See under ஆழி. காலாள், s. A person on foot; footsoldiers, infantry, பதாதி. காலாற, inf. To rest the foot, நடை யோய்ந்திருக்க. காலாறவிட, inf. To let draught oxen, horses, &c., rest. காலிடற--கால்தடக்க--காறடக்க, inf. To stumble. காலிலி, s. A snake, பாம்பு. 2. Wind, காற்று. 3. Distortion of the limbs, by convulsion or otherwise. காலிறால், s. See under இறால். காலுளைவு, v. noun. Soreness, aching or pain in the legs, from cold, walking, &c. காலூன்ற, inf. To set on foot firm on the ground; to become established. காலூன்றிநிற்க, inf. To stand firmly, stand fast. காலூன்றிப்பெய்ய, inf. To rain in torrents--the clouds seeming to rest on the horizon. காலேயரைக்கால், s. A quarter and oneeighth, five-eighths. காலோடேகால்சேர்ந்துநிற்க, inf. To stand with closed legs. கால்கட்டு, s. Inseparableness--as of wife and husband. கால்கட்டுகைகட்டு, Bound hand and foot. 2. (fig.) Confined at home by the sickness of another, by a grown-up daughter, a motherless child, or by urgent business, &c. கால்கழுவ, inf. To wash the feet; metaphorically to clean one's self with water after stool, மலங்கழுவ. கால்கூசுதல், v. noun. Shrinking of the foot in touching rough ground, &c. 2. Recoiling of the legs in stepping into the compound or house of a stranger. 3. Having spasms in the arms, and legs --as in cholera. கால்சீக்க, inf. To root out, exterminate, வேரோடுகளைய. 2. To efface, to obliterate, துடைக்க. 3. To dispel darkness, இருளைஅகற்ற. 4. To scrape with the foot, காலினாற்சீக்க. கால்செய்வட்டம், s. A fan, விசிறி; [ex கால், air, et செய்வட்டம்.] கால்தளர--காறளர inf. To become weak in the limps, by walking, sickness, age, &c. கால்தோல்--காற்றோல் s. [prov.] Leathern defences for toddy-drawers feet in climbing, மரமேறுவோர் காலிலிடுந்தோல். கால்நகம்--கானகம் s. Toe-nail. கால்நடை--கானடை. v. noun. Walking, going on foot--as distinct from riding and driving. 2. s. Sheep and goats; oxen, cattle, ஆடுமாடுகள் அவனுக்குமாட்டில் நூறுகால்நடையுண்டு. He has no-hundred oxen. கால்நடையாய், adv. On foot, a-foot. கால்நடையாய்ப் பிரயாணம்போக, inf. To travel on foot. கால்நோக்கு--கானோக்கு s. One-fourth aspect of a planet, being one of the four aspects. கால்பாவவில்லை. The feet do not seek the ground--recoiling from going. கால்பிடிக்க, inf. To fall at one's feet to ask a favor. 2. To press and rub the legs in order to induce sleep, to shampoo. கால்பின்னிக்கொண்டுநிற்க, inf. To stand cross-legged. கால்பின்னிக்கொள்ள--காலோடேகால் பின்னிக்கொள்ள, inf. To lose the power of walking, legs being crossed. கால்மட்டம், s. [prov.] Use of the feet in walking, by guess or practice--as in the dark or as a blind man. கால்மாடு, s. The foot of a bed, or of a person in bed, காற்பக்கம். கால்மிதி, s. Step in dancing. 2. Footmark, காற்சுவடு. கால்வருட, inf. To shampoo, to stroke the feet, soles, &c. கால்வழி, s. A halting or hobbling leg. கிந்துகாலன், s. A hobbler. கீற்றரைக்கால், The contracted form of உ, marked thus ,-- as து, நு. கீற்றுக்கால், The contracted form of ஊ, marked thus --as தூ, நூ. See under கீற்று. குதிகால்--குதிங்கால் s. Heel. குந்துகாலன், (fem. குந்துகாலி.) A hobbler, a limping person. 2. A Squatter, a man sitting on the his knees. குந்துகால், s. Tip-toe. 2. kiṇṭu (p. 109) கிறேன், கிண்டினேன், வேன்,கிண் ட, v. a. To dig, excavate, delve, hoe up, தோண்ட. 2. To make a pit, a hollow--as in the ground, a hole in a wall, &c., குழிதோ ண்ட. 3. To dig up; to dig out; to obtain by digging, கிளறியெடுக்க. 4. To poke, stir with a ladle; to scratch--as a fowl; pick or work up--as crows; burrow--as rats, &c.; to work up with a stick, an iron-bar, &c., கிளற. 5. (fig.) to probe, to scrutinize, to investigate, to inquire or pry into a matter; to search, to examine, ஆராய. 6. To gnaw--as worms on the body, as animalcula under the skin, &c., புழுமுதலியனகிண்ட. 7. To prompt, நினைப்பூட்ட. 8. To excite--as to a quarrel, &c., பகையெழுப்ப. கிண்டக்கிண்டக்கீரையும்மயிரும், The more you probe it, the more it is hair with the greens; i.e. the more insignificant. மண்கிண்டிவயிறுவளர்க்கிறவன். A husbandman, (diminutively) one who lives by digging. அம்பட்டன்குப்பையைக் கிண்டினால்மயிர்மயிராய்ப் புறப்படும். If you turn up the dung-hill of a barber, you will find only clippings of hair. கிண்டிக்கிண்டிக்கேட்க--விசேஷங்கிண் ட, inf. To inquire into a thing very minutely, to pump one, to ask inquisitively. கிண்டிக்கிளறிப்பார்க்க, inf. To dig out and search. 2. To make a thorough search, to make a thorough investigation. கிண்டிக்கொடுக்க, inf. To stir, to keep stirring--as the fire, the pap, &c. 2. (fig. To prompt. 3. To increase, to aggravate--as a quarrel. நீயவனைச்சற்றேகிண்டிக்கொடு. Prompt him a little. கிண்டிப்பார்க்க, inf. To dig and look --as for yams, &c., 2. fig.) To make injuiry by different means to find out the truth. அவனண்டைபோய்ச் செய்திஎன்னவென்றுகிண் டிப்பார். Go to him and search out the matter. கிண்டிவிட, inf. To dig up, to dig round the roots of plants, grain &c. 2. To excite, to stir up, to incite. 3. To bring a thing to one's notice, to suggest. கிண்டிவிட்டுக் கேளிக்கைப்பார்க்கிறது..... To stir up or excite others to quarrel or fight, and delight in it. கல்லுக்கிண்ட, inf. To dig up stones. களிக்கிண்ட, inf. To cook hasty-pudding, by stirring. கிழங்குகிண்ட, inf.
