உப்பு
uppu (p. 62) கிறது, உப்பினது, ம், உப்ப, v. n. To swell, bloat, puff up--as the belly by wind, indigestion, &c., வீங்க. 2. To rise--as leaven, &c., பொங்க. (c.) உப்பிப்போனமா, s. Risen dough. உப்பினவயிறு, s. A swollen belly. உப்புசம், s. Internal swelling preventing respiration and causing asthma, வயிற்றுவீக்கம். 64)

ūtu (p. 69) கிறேன், ஊதினேன், வேன், ஊத, v. a. To blow--as with the mouth, to blow the fire, to puff and blow--as with hard labor, வாயாலூத. 2. To blow a musical instrument--as a trumpet, துளைக்கருவியி சைக்க. 3. To blow with a bellows, a blowpipe, &c., துருத்திமுதலியவற்றாலூத. 4. To gnaw or bore holes--as a beetle, to injure--as a moth, வண்டுமுதலியவூத. 5. v. n. To be puffed up with wind, to be inflated, வீங்க. 6. To be bloated, swollen--as the belly after eating, to swell or puff up--as a corpse, or carcass in water, &c., சரீரம்வீங்க. 7. To blow softly--as wind, காற்றுநொய்தாய்வீச. 8. To blow--as bees, beetles, &c., in getting out honey from flowers, வண்டிரைய. அவன்முகம்ஊதிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறது. His face is swollen. உடலூதியிருக்கின்றது. The stomach is puffed up with wind. ஊதிடுகொம்பு--ஊதுகொம்பு, s. A horn used as a trumpet. ஊதிப்பார்க்க, inf. To try a windinstrument. 2. To attempt a cure by enchantment consisting in part of blowing into the patient's body. ஊதிப்போக, inf. To be puffed up. ஊதிப்போட--ஊதிவிட, inf. To blow away, blow out, extinguish. ஊதினபொன், s. Refined gold, gold refined in the fire. வண்டூதினபுடைவை, s. A garment injured by insects, moths. வண்டூதினமரம், s. A timber or beam gnawed or pierced by beetles. வண்டூதினவோலை, s. An ola book, &c., eaten by insects. அந்தூதினநெல், s. Insect-eaten rice. ஊதுகட்டி, s. [vul.] Silver of the purest kind, சொக்கவெள்ளி. ஊதுகரப்பன், s. A kind of disease resulting from bad humors in the system and attended with eruptions. ஊதுகாமாலை, s. A kind of jaundice in which the body swells. ஊதுகுழல், s. A pipe, a gold smith's blow-pipe. ஊதுமா, s. A kind of hastypudding. ஊதுமாந்தம், s. A disease of children, ஓர்நோய். ஊதுமுகம், s. A bloated face. ஊதுவழலை, s. A kind of snake. ஊதுவிரியன்--ஊதுபாம்பு, s. காமாலை
kāmālai (p. 104) --காமாளை, s. A disease characterized by bloatedness of the system, paleness of the skin, general languor, and loss of appetite; jaundice, of which there are several varieties-as ஊது-பித்த-மஞ்சள்வறட் காமாலை; which see. காமாலை பிடித்தவன், s. One who has the jaundice. 70)

kuḷukuḷukk (p. 131) inf. v. n. [vul.] To become pale, sallow, wan and bloated--as in jaundice, &c.; to become weak through a morbid state of body, சோகைபற்ற. 2. [prov.] To become rotten, putrid--as fruits, அழுகிப்போக. அவன்முகங்குளுகுளுத்திருக்கிறது. His face is swollen. குளுகுளுப்பை, v. noun. The state of being pale and bloated in countenance; a kind of jaundice, ஓர்நோய். 13)

carīram (p. 167) s. The living human body, the tenement of the soul, மனிதருடல். (c.) 2. Body in general of men or brutes, மிருகாதி களினுடல். W. p. 832. SAREERA. (not com. in Tamil.) சரீரகுணம், s. Temperament, disposition or state of body. 2. The disposition of the body with regard to the different effects of food, &c., on different persons. சரீரக்கட்டு, v. noun. Compactness of body. See கட்டு. சரீரக்கூறு, s. See under கூறு. 2. Any state of the body, as corpulent, thin, &c., thus. 1. வாதசரீரம், a constitution in which flatulent humors prevail, causing bloatedness, &c. 2. பித்தசரீரம், in which the bilious humors preponderate, causing thinness, emaciation, fretfulness, heat, &c. 3. சிலேட்டுமசரீரம், in which phlegmatic humors prevail, causing pulmonary diseases, dryness, &c. சரீரங்கனத்துக்கொள்ள, inf. See under கனம். சரீரங்காய--சரீரங்கரைந்துபோக, inf. To be emaciated, as the body by fever, &c. See காய். v. சரீரசகாயம், s. See under சகாயம். சரீரசங்கட்டம், s. Pain in the body, sickness. சரீரசஞ்சலம், s. Disease, ailment. சரீரசம்ரட்சணை, s. Preservation of the health of the body, nourishment of the body. (Rare.) சரீரசம்பந்த, adj. Belonging or relating to the body. சரீரசவுக்கியம், s. Health, sound state of the body. சரீரசுத்தி, s. Cleanliness, or purification of the body. சரீரஸ்மரணை, s. [com. சரீரசுரணை.] Sense of feeling in the body. சரீரத்திரயம், s. A three-fold enumeration of bodies, as given in the Agama. 1. தூலசரீரம், the gross body which perishes at death. 2. சூக்குமசரீரம், the subtile or ethereal body, or case and immediate organ of the soul, accompanying that through its various transmigrations. It is the embryo or seed of the respective bodies assumed to be, and is, capable of sensations in enjoyment, suffering, &c., beyond those of the grosser body. 3. காரணசரீரம், the original type or embryo of the body, as existing with the soul in its original state. See under காரணம். Another three-fold classification describes bodies as assumed by the soul with its சூக்குமம் adapted to three different states to which it is subject, namely. 1. யாதனாசரீரம், a body adapted to suffering, assigned to the soul for its abode in the infernal regions. 2. பூத னாசரீரம், a body capable of the sensual felicities of சுவர்க்கம், or the abode of Indra. 3. பரிணாமசரீரம், changeable bodies, the bodies of the present state, in which moral actions are performed. சரீரநோய், s. Pains in the body from over exertion, walking, cold, &c. சரீரபுஷ்டி, s. Corpulency. 2. A healthy, thriving state of the body. சரீரப்போக்கு--சரீரப்போங்கு, s. The state of the body; different states of constitution. சரீரமரணம், s. [in Christ. usage.] Death of the body, oppo. to ஆத்துமமரணம், spiritual death. சரீரவதை, s. Mortifying the body by austere penance. சரீரவாகு--சரீரவாக்கு, s. The temperament of the body. சரீரவுபாதி, s. Bodily pain. சரீரவுறவு, s. Consanguinity, oppo. to ஞானவுறவு. (p.) சரீராவச்சின்னவான்மா, s. The individuated soul as it exists in bodies respectively--as distinguished or detached from the universal spirit, சீவான்மா; [ex சரீரம், et அவச்சின்னம், separated.] (சது.) சரீரி, s. A sentient soul, a corporeal being--oppo. to அசரீரி, an immaterial existence. சுகசரீரம், s. A healthy constitution, in which the three humors are in equilibrium. தூலீத்தசரிரம், s. A fat or corpulent body. வச்சிரசரீரம், s. An adamantine body, (a form used in benedictions.) See வச்சிரம். 2. Strong and healthy body. கற்சரீரம், s. Stone-like body. See கல். 13) *
சோகை
cōkai (p. 212) s. Incipient jaundice with paleness and bloating of the face, &c., ஓர் வியாதி, Leucophlegmatia. 2. (fig.) An impotent person, அப்பிராணி. (c.) சோகைக்கொண்டவன்--சோகையுள்ளவன், appel. n. A person with jaundice. சோகைபற்ற, inf. To have the jaundice. சோகைமுகம், s. A face swollen with jaundice. பித்தசோகை, s. Jaundice connected with bile and heat. See பித்தம். 33)

tiṭṭumuṭṭu (p. 238) v. noun. [prov.] (com. திக்குமுக்கு.) Choking, suffocation, obstructions of the chest, difficulty of breathing, நெஞ்சடை. 2. A disease in children attended with bloating, of the belly, ஓர் நோய். 3. See திட்டு, v. 27)

pru (p. 299) க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. To become large, thick, bulky, plump; to thicken, to swell, to bloat, பெருக்க. 2. To increase in size, to grow up, வளர. 3. To become serious in aspect, consequences, &c., to be aggravated, கனக்க. 4. To be increased--as lands, one's estate, an amount, expenses, &c., பெருக. 5. To increase as a scale of performance, living, equipage, &c., அதிகரிக்க. பருத்துக்காட்டுதல். Being magnified, appearing greater, as objects viewed through a magnifying glass; to be magnified in description. பருக்கஎழுத, inf. To write a large hand. பருக்கெனல், v. noun. [prov.] Being thick, large, பெரும்படியாயிருத்தல். பருக்கை. You cannot become bulky. (p.) 2. v. noun. Largeness, பெரியதா குகை. பருத்தகயிறு, s. A thick rope. பருத்தவன், appel. n. pāṇṭu (p. 310) s. Whiteness, paleness, வெண் மை. 2. A kind of chronic jaundice, causing paleness and bloatedness of the body, ஓர்நோய். 3. A sovereign of ancient Delhi, the nominal father of the five Pandava princes, being a white man, பாண்டவர்தந் தை. W. p. 523. PAN'DU. பாண்டவர், s. [pl.] The five Pandava princes, famous in the B'harata, பாண்டு புத்திரர்; also பஞ்சபாண்டவர். பாண்டவர்முன்பிறந்தோன், appel. n. Karna as the elder brother of the Pandavas, by the same mother, கன் னன். (சது.) பாண்டுமைந்தர், s. [pl.] The Pandava princes, as reputed sons of பாண்டு. பாண்டுரோகம்--பாண்டுவியாதி, s. The பாண்டு jaundice. 10) *
