cūṭṭu (p. 200) கிறேன், சூட்டினேன், வேன், சூட் ட, v. a. To crown, wreath, decorate with a chaplet, diadem, tiara, &c., அணிய. 2. To adorn with garlands chains, மாலையணிய. 3. To confer a name, title, &c., to invest with honors, office, dignity, &c., நாமஞ்சூட்ட. 4. To impute to, charge with, establish by conspiracy, குற்றஞ்சாட்ட. 5. To select a lover, as a lady from number of suitors, by placing a garland on him, according to ancient usage, மணமாலைசூட்ட. (Compare சயமரம்.) 6. To exhibit in the presence of a prince, &c., a poem made to his praise; (lit.) to invest him with a wreath of poetry, பாமாலைசூட்ட. 7. [prov. in complaint.] To appoint, destine, நியமிக்க. 8. To attribute or ascribe to, father upon, சுமத்த. தாளிணைதலைமேற்சூட்ட. To crown the disciple with his feet, as a guru, &c., implying the display of grace. ஒருவனுக்குச்சூட்டிவிட, inf.
