atikari (p. 10) க்கிறேன், த்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. n. To increase, enlarge, excel, exceed, surpass, அதிகப்பட. 2. To be aggravated, excessive, superior, (in rank, quality, authority, learning, &c.) to preponderate, predominate, விசேஷிக்க. 3. [in grammar.] One of the eleven subjects treated of in the introduction of a book, கற் போன். (See பாயிரம்.) 2. [in philosophy, literature, &c.] The persons, for whom a work is written, as it regards competency, eligibility, worthiness, &c., as the ஞானநூல் for such as act up to the prescribed rules. A sweet word, pleasant discourse, complimentary, courteous language, இன்சொல். இனியவைகூறல், s. Title of a chapter in Cural on pleasant or courteous speech, குறளினோரதிகாரம். இனியன், s. One disposed to maintain a course of conduct proper for a king. இயலுவமம், s. [in rhetoric.] A comparison of the properties of different things, பண்புவமை. இயற்சீர், s. The ஆசிரியவுரிச்சீர், verse--a metrical foot of four அசை. See சீர். இயற்சீர்வெண்டளை, s. Combination of two simple or ஆசிரியம் feet, or connection of an ஆசிரியம் foot, ending with a compound அசை, with another beginning with a simple one, or vice versa, மாமுன்னிரையும்விளமுன்னேருமொன்றிவருவது. இயற்சொல், s. A word in common use--in distinction from திரிசொல்-exclusively poetic usage--words understood both by the learned and unlearned. இயற்பெயர், s. Proper or arbitrary names, titles, terms of office, &c., இயல் பாயிடப்பட்டபெயர்; also names of things indicating a whole--as distinguished from parts. 2. Simple or original names --as distinguished from ஆகுபெயர் or derived names, செம்பொருளையுணர்த்தும்பெயர். இயற்றமிழ், s. Learning, study, knowledge, literature, information, intelligence, கல்வி. 4. Destiny, divine ordination, விதி. 5. A raised area within a fortification, மதிலுண்மேடை. 6. A surrounding wall, a fortification, மதில். 7. The முல்லை flower shrub, regarded by poets as an emblem of female chastity. 8. Justness, equity, moral rectitude, நீதிநெறி. 9. An ordinance, command, கற்பனை. கற்பலங்காரி, s. A chaste virgin or woman. கற்பழிக்க--கற்புக்குலைக்க, inf. To defile, corrupt chastity, to deflour. கற்புக்குலைக்கிறவன், s. A ravisher, a deflourer. கற்பழிந்தபெண், s. A defloured woman. கற்பழிய, inf. To be defloured. கற்பழியாதபெண், s. A virgin, an undefiled woman, கன்னி. கற்பாட்டி--கற்பினாள்--கற்புடை யாள், s. A chaste woman, கற்புடையவள். கற்புடைமகளிரத்தியாயம், s. The chapter which treats of the qualities of a chaste woman, contained in the book காசிகாண்டம். கற்பியல், s. A branch of அகப் பொருள், which treats of female chastity, கற்பொழுக்கங்கூறுமியல். கற்பிலக்கணம், s. The rules of chastity and housewifery. கற்புடைமை, s. Female chastity and virtue. கற்புநெறி, s. Female chastity (a pleonastic form). கற்புவலிமை, s. The power of female chastity and virtue. 2. The miraculous efficacy of female chastity, which, when possessed in a high degree, is considered capable of counteracting the order of nature. 26)

kintu (p. 109) கிறேன், கிந்தினேன், வேன் கிந்த, v. n. [perhaps from குந்து.] To stand or walk on the toes (with one foot or both); to go a tip-toe, படங்குந்திமிதிக்க. 2. To hop, to leap about on one leg--as boys in the play called நொண்டிவிளையாட்டு. 3. To limp, to halt, to hobble, நொண்டிநடக்க. (c.) கீற்றுக்கால்கொடுகிந்தித்திரிவீர்காள். O ye that limp about with chapped feet. (p.) கிந்திநடக்க, inf. To walk on the toes. 2. To hobble, to limp. கிந்திநிற்க, inf. To stand on tip-toe. கிந்தியடிக்க, inf. [prov.] To hop about in a square made on the sand, touching others in the way, &c.; a kind of play among boys. கிந்துகாலன், s. (fem. கிந்துகாலி.) [vul.] A man that hobbles, going a tip-toe on one foot, குந்துகாலன். 57)

kiẕmai (p. 111) --கிழம் s. Oldness, senility, decrepitude, old age, கிழத்தனம். இந்தமாடுமிகுந்தகிழம். This is a very old ox. கிழக்கதை, s. Old stories. 2. The chattering of old people, கிழவர்வார்த்தை. கிழக்குதிரை, s. An old horse. கிழக்கோலம். The appearance or marks of age. கிழடு, s. [vul.] An old thing, commonly said of animals, trees, and contemptuously of a person, வயதுமுதிர்ந்தது. கிழடன், s. An old man; an old chap, in contempt. கிழட்டுப்பசு, s. An old cow. கிழத்தனம், s. Old age; manners or habits of old people. கிழப்பிணம், s. An old fellow, in contempt; a living carcass. கிழமாடு, s. An old ox or cow. கிழவன், s. (pl. கிழவர்.) An old man, an aged man, மூப்புடையோன். 2. The second of the twenty-seven lunar asterisms or nacshatras, or the day during which the moon is in the nacshatra, பரணி. குடுகுடுகிழவன், s. A very old man. கிழவி, s. An old woman, மூப்புடைய வள். கிழவிக்கிழங்கு, s. [prov.] The previous year's root (esculent, &c.), old and useless; from which others have sprung, பழையகிழங்கு. கிழவிமஞ்சள், s. [prov.] old turmeric root of the previous year, பழமையான மஞ்சள். வன்கிழம்--வலுகிழம், s. A very old person, animal or thing, in contempt. 40)
