The daily purification in idol worship, is of five kinds, viz; 1. பூதசுத்தி, cleansing the body, accompained by muntras. 2. ஆத்துமசுத்தி, mental purity by invocations. 3. திரவியசுத்தி, cleaning of the vessels, with attending incantations. 4. இலிங்கசுத்தி, the changing of the flowers, &c., before the idol, by which it is made pure. 5. மந்திரசுத்தி, by muntras repeating the mystic Om, and adding the five lettered நமசிவாய, or salutation to Siva. சுத்திசெய்ய--சுத்திபண்ண, inf.
