cēr (p. 208) --சேரு, கிறேன், ந்தேன், வேன், சேர, v. n. To join; unite or associate with, கூட. 2. To draw near, to arrive at; to approach, திட்ட. 3. To be near, adjacent, contiguous, அடுத்திருக்க. 4. To come together, assemble, collect, muster, ஒருமிக்கச்சேர. 5. To belong to, be dependent on, or attached to, be connected with, அடுக்க. 6. To fit, suit, be adapted to--as the mortise to the tenon, &c., இணங்க. 7. To be in close friendship or union, to have a liking for a person on account of congeniality of temper or from habit, &c., பொருந்த. 8. To mach, equal, correspond with, ஒக்க. 9. To be added, become aggregated, அதிகரிக்க. 1. To become mixed incorporated, blended, கலந்துபோக. 11. To be incident to, co-existent with, appertain to, as a quality--&c., உரித்தாக. 12. To have recourse to; to side with, ஓர்பட்சத்தைச்சேர. (c.) இதுஅதற்குச்சேராது. This will not be a suitable match to that. சேரிடமறிந்துசேர். Discriminate in your choice of places; i. e. associate with the wise. (Avv.) இவன்மனுஷரோடேசேருகிறதில்லை. He does not associate with others. அதெங்களைச்சேராது. That does not affect us. சேர, s. Come together. சேரக்கட்ட, inf. To tie together, as the hands, &c., சேர்த்துக்கட்ட. 2. To deliver, give over, remit, transmit, செலுத்துவிக்க. சேரப்பார்க்க, inf. To seek admittance. 2. To find whether the parts of a frame work fit each other, பொருத்திப்பார்க்க. சேரமண்டலம், s. A small halo around the moon. (R.) சேரமண்டலந்தூரமழை,தூரமண்டலஞ்சேரமழை. A small halo denotes rain to be distant, a large one, indicates it to be near. சேராச்சேர்த்தி, s. [prov.] A disproportioned match, not a pair; inequality, as of a married couple, of ploughing bullocks. palankeen bearers, &c., இசைவின்மை. 2. Bad company, associating with improper persons beneath one's rank, &c., தகா தகூட்டுறவு. 3. Confusion, disorder, தாறு மாறு. சேருந்துறை, s. The destined port, the place to which one is bound. 2. (fig.) A person of rank, or dignity, worthy to be associated with in marriage, &c., one able to assist, &c. சேர்ந்தகைமை--சேர்ந்தலை, s. [prov. corrup. of சேர்க்கை.] Closeness of connexion, union of friends, of husband and wife, pairs of animals, &c. சேரும்பாடும், adv. [prov.] Promiscuously, altogether, in confusion, topsy turvy, higgledy piggledy, கூட்டாக்குழப் பமாய். சேரும்பாடுமாய்விழ, inf. To fall promiscuously on each other, as people in a quarrel, or as trees in a storm, &c. சேர்கால், s. [prov.] The hampered feet of beasts, தளைகால். சேர்காலிட, inf. To hamper. சேர்ந்த, (past rel. part.) Joined, united, belonging to, &c. அந்தநிலமவனைச்சேர்ந்தது. That land is his. சேர்ந்தமுதல், s. Stock. See முதல். சேர்ந்தவன், appel. n. An applicant for aid. 2. A person under one's protection, a dependant. 3. A relative. 4. A partisan, an ally, associate. இவன்நம்மைச்சேர்ந்தவன். He is on our side. சேர்ந்தார், s. Friends, partisans, connexions. 2. Relatives, உற்றார். சேர்ந்தார்க்கொல்லி, s. Fire, (lit.) that which kills those in contact with it, நெருப்பு. See கொல்லி. (சது.) சேர்ந்தார்சினேகிதர், s. Friends and associates. சேர்ந்துகழுத்தறுக்க, inf. To abuse and betray confidence. Compare சிரித்துக்கழுத் றுக்க. சேர்ந்துகாரியம்பார்க்க, inf. To associate with for one's own interest. சேர்ந்துகொள்ள, inf. To associate; to herd together--as beasts. 2. To be attached to--as a child to its nurse. 3. To take firm hold of--as disease. சேர்ந்துநடக்க, inf. To live or act in unity, concord, harmony and peace. சேர்ந்துவிட, inf. To unite as a broken bone, to knit. 2. To reach a place, as a traveller. 3. To be admitted into a class, company, society. 4. To come to hand, to be received, கைக்குவர. மனுஷரோடேசேர்ந்துவிட்டான். He is grown or risen so as to come into society. சேர்மானம், s. Union, combination, association, ஐக்கம். 2. Compound, commixture, கலப்பு. 3. Addition, a thing added, accompaniment, சேர்ந்தது. சேர்விலங்கு, s. [prov.] Fetters for the feet or hands. சேரல், v. noun. Drawing near, கிட் டல். 2. s.
