añcu (p. 7) s. Five. See ஐந்து. அஞ்சாம்வருணம், s. The fifth caste, Pariahs, &c. அஞ்சாலியிடையர், s. [prop. அஞ் சார இடையர்.] A tribe of cowherds; whose women wear, in their marriage neck jewel, five ornaments, or ஐந்தாலி. அஞ்சாரப்பெட்டி, s. [prop. அஞ்ச றைப்பெட்டி.] A box that has five compartments, one in the middle and four surrounding, made of palmyra leaves or other materials for containing flowers, spices, &c. அஞ்சுருவாணி, s. (as அச்சுருவா ணி.) An iron bolt passing through the five tiers of a car. அஞ்சுமூன்றுமுண்டானாலறியாப்பெண்ணுங் கறி யாக்கும். Even a young girl will be able to make a curry, when she has the following three and five things, viz., புளி, souring; மிளகு, pepper; உப்பு, salt; கடுகு, mustard; and சீரகம், cumin--which are the five; and the three are நீர், water; நெருப்பு; fire; and விறகு, fire-wood--said by an angry husband to his wife when the curry is not good. பூதங்கள் அஞ்சும் அகத்தேங்கும். kūṭṭu (p. 133) கிறேன், கூட்டினேன், வேன், கூட்ட, v. a. To unite, conjoin, combine, connect, இணைக்க. 2. To collect together, to assemble, சேர்க்க. 3. To compound, mingle, commix, amalgamate, கலக்க. 4. To add, cast or sum up; to aggregate, தொகைப்படுத்த. 5. To increase--as interest, salary, allowance, price, &c.; to enhance, to augment, அதிகரிக்கச்செய்ய. 6. To add--as ingredients in food, medicine, &c., கூடச்சேர்க்க. 7. To receive, take, or admit one into a company, party, class, society, partnership, &c., சபை முதலியவற்றிற்கூட்ட. 8. To accumulate, hoard, to store up, to treasure up, சேகரிக்க. 9. To sweep; to gather--as sweepings, பெருக்க. 1. To draw one over to a party, to enlist, to engage; to proselyte, to convert, கட்சி முதலியவற்றிற்சேர்க்க. 11. To append, to attach, to annex, to subjoin, to superadd, கூட்டிவைக்க. 12. v. n. [prov.] To from-as pus &c., உண்டாக்க. கூட்டிக்கட்ட, inf. To gather and tie up--as hair, &c., சேர்த்துக்கட்ட. 2. To encroach on another's land, எல்லை கட்ட. 3. To tie together--as the hands, or the hands and feet; &c. கூட்டிக்கொடுக்க, inf. To give more --as salary, price, &c., to superadd. 2. To add interest to principal and pay it at once. 3. To take one in company, admit into society, or receive to office, &c. இன்று போசனத்துக்கென்ன கூட்டிக்கொண் டாய். What have you eaten with your food rice to-day? கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோக--கூட்டிப்போக, inf. To take in company, to take along; to carry, convey. 2. To gather up and take away. கூட்டிச்சேர்க்க, inf. To collect together. கூட்டிப்பிடிக்க, inf. To hold together --as things in the hand. 2. To encroach upon--as lands. 3. To grasp, take up, or thumb too much, in measuring cloth, &c. 4. [local] To receive, entertain, treat with kindness--as a repenting prodigal. கூட்டிமுடிக்க, inf. To gather up and tie the hair. 2. To accomplish, to bring about--as the deity, or as the actions of former births, producing their proper fruits--little used. கூட்டிவிட, inf. To pimp, to pander, (low.) 2. To send along. கூட்டிவைக்க, inf. To accumulate, to lay up, to deposit. 2. To cause to succeed. 3. To bestow enjoyments on one --as the deity in granting a wife, sexual enjoyment, &c. தெய்வங்கூட்டிவைக்கவேண்டும். May God send prosperity. கூட்டுவிக்க, inf. To join together, reconcile. 2. To cause to be swept, &c. இதழ்கூட்ட--சொண்டுகூட்ட, inf. [prov.] To join the lips in speaking. See under இதழ். கறிகூட்ட, inf. To mix ingredients for curry. சுருதிகூட்ட, inf. To tune the voice, or instruments before performing. 2.To accompany the singing by an instrument, or the voice sounding the key note. பறவைகூட்ட, inf. To become fledged; to attempt to fly--as a fledgeling; to assist to fly. மைகூட்ட, inf. To make ink or paint. 2. To make collyrium for the eyes. கூட்டல்கழித்தல், v. noun. Accepting and rejecting. 2. Adding and subtracting. கூட்டு, v. noun. A compound, medley, mixture, composition, aggregation, aggregate, கலப்பு. 2. Curry stuffs ground together, கறிக்கூட்டு. 3. [prov.] Perfumery ground with sandal. பாக்குவெற்றிலைக்கூட்டு, s. [prov.] Spices mixed with chopped areca-nuts and used in chewing betel. முக்கூட்டெண்ணெய், s. A famous medicinal oil compounded of castor, margosa and rape-seed oils. கூட்டுக்கால்கட்ட, inf. To tie a beast's forelegs together. கூட்டாகுழப்பம், s. Confusion of things, affairs, &c., a clutter, தாறுமாறு. கூட்டுக்கச்சவடம்--கூட்டுவியாபாரம்-கூட்டுத்தொழில்--கூட்டுவர்த்தகம், s. A traffic in partnership. கூட்டுப்பயிர், s.
