குறுக்கு
kuṟukku (p. 132) s. That which is athwart, across, transverse, in a cross, direction, திரியக்கு. 2. Diameter, intersection; transit, விட்டம். 3. Frustration; check, hinderance, எதிர். 4. Shortness, briefness, சுருக்கம். 5. Intervention, இடையீடு. 6. The hips, the loins, இடுப்பு. குறுக்கீடாகப்போக, inf. To go across. குறுக்குக்கட்டுக்கட்ட, inf. To tie the cloth a little above the breasts, and around the trunk--as women often do. குறுக்குக்கேள்வி--குறுக்குவினா, s. Cross questioning, cross examination. 2. Irrelevant questions. குறுக்குச்சட்டம், s. A cross piece in a frame. 2. Braces to connect the pairs of refters. 3. A cross beam. குறுக்குச்சார், s. [prov.] A short or cross side of a native house; a raised floor on the outside or inside of the shorter wall of a native house. குறுக்குப்பாடு, v. noun. To check, prevent, obstruct, stop, interrupt. குறுக்கேபோக, inf. To go across; to go a short way. 2. To cross one's track, or path--as a cat, &c., considered a bad omen. 3. To pass between persons or things. 4. To die prematurely and in the prime of life. 5. To transgress one's commands; to go or act against one's wishes, counsel, &c. குறுக்கிட, inf. To come across--as animals of bad omen. 2. To interfere. குறுக்களவு, s. Dimension across; thickness; the diameter. 2. The extent or measure of any line or direction parallel wit the diameter. குறுக்கடி, s. A precipitate step or measure; a rash course; a contrary or contradictory procedure. 2. A short, hasty, abrupt or crabbed answer; an assertion without due deliberation. 3. A stroke at one's loins. குறுக்கடிநியாயம், s. Abrupt, inconclusive reasoning. குறுக்கடியாயடிக்க, inf. A formula, theorem or rule expressing the shortest method of performing a calculation, &c.; a brief, con.prehensive rule. குறுக்கேமடக்க, inf. [prov.] To confute or refute at once; to stop one's mouth by short answer. குறுக்கேமுறிக்க, inf. To break into two. 2. To break off in the midst of a business; to leave a work unfinished. 3. To leave a company in displeasure. குறுக்கேவிழ--குறுக்கேவர, inf. To interfere, intermeddle. 35)
குற்றம்
kuṟṟm (p. 132) s. Fault; moral or physical imperfection, blemish, defect, deformity. பி ழை. 2. Crime, misdemeanor, guilt, தீங்கு. 3. Impurity; ceremonial or moral defilement--as cause of offence to the deity, of blight to plants, &c., சூதகம். 4. Reproach, stigma, charge, accusation, blame, குறை. 5. Amercement, mulct, fine, அபராதம். 6. (சது.) Sickness, நோய். முக்குற்றம், s. The three kinds of evil, incident to the soul in connexion with births, as darkening the understanding and leading to sin. 1. காமம், sexual desire, lust. 2. வெகுளி, anger. 3. மயக்கம், bewilderment, mental illusion. யாக்கைக்குற்றம், s. The five defects of the body; 1. கொட்டாவி, yawning. 2. நெட்டை, snapping the joints. 3. குறுகு றுப்பு, snoring. 4. கூன்கிடை, lying shrunk up. 5. நட்டுவிழல், nodding. அஷ்டகுற்றம், s. The eight imperfections of creatures. 1. ஞானாவரணியம், ignorance, or want of wisdom. 2. தரி சனாவரணியம், defective perception. 3. வேதநீயம், comprehensibleness. 4. மோக நீயம். subjection to the passions. 5. ஆயு, age, limited duration. 6. நாமம், having a name or describableness. 7. கோத்திரம், parentage, descent. 8. அந்தராயம். liability to impediments and accidents. The opposite of these are peculiar to the deity. See எண்குணம் under குணம். நூற்குற்றம், s. The ten faults or defects in a literary composition. 1. குன்றக்கூறல், a partial statement--saying too little. 2. மிகைபடக்கூறல், redundancy-saying too much. 3. கூறியதுகூறல், tautology--repetition. 4. மாறுகொளக்கூறல், inconsistency--contradictory statements. 5. வழூஉச்சொற்புணர்த்தல், the employment of improper or inappropriate words and terms. 6. மயங்கவைத்தல், obscurity, mystification. 7. வெற்றெனத்தொடுத்தல், emptiness, barrenness. 8.மற்றொன்றுவிரித்தல், digression--introducing another subject. 9. சென்றுதேய்ந்திறுதல், gradual loss of vigor and tone. 1. நின்றுபயனின்மை, useless statements; verbosity; bombast. இமைக்குற்றங் கண்ணுக்குத்தெரியாது. The eye does not see the defect of the eyelashes; i. e. one's own errors, and those of his family and friends, are unnoticed. குற்றங்கடிய, inf. To avoid guilt. குற்றங்களைய, inf. To free from errors. குற்றங்காட்ட, inf. To expose faults. குற்றங்காண, inf. To find fault. 2. To blame, to be blameable, &c. குற்றஞ்சாட்ட--குற்றஞ்சுமத்த--குற் றப்படுத்த--குற்றமேற்ற, inf. To conviet, charge with a fault or crime; to accuse. அவன்மேற்குற்றஞ்சுமத்து. He has been found guilty. குற்றஞ்சாராதவன், s. An innocent man. குற்றஞ்செய்ய--குற்றம்பண்ண, inf. To commit a fault; to perpetrate a crime; to do wrong, &c. குற்றஞ்சொல்ல, inf. To accuse, criminate, blame, censure, charge with fault; to impeach. 2. To object, gainsay. 3. To criticize; to be hypercritical, censorious, captious; to expose faults. குற்றத்தைமறைக்க, inf. To deny a crime; to hide a fault. குற்றந்தீர்க்க--குற்றம்பரிகரிக்க, inf. To correct faults, to free from faults; to expurgate, exculpate, absolve. குற்றந்தெரிக்க, inf. To exhibit faults; to criticize, to sift--as a literary production. குற்றப்பட, inf. To be in fault; to be found guilty, criminal, blameable. குற்றப்பாடு, v. noun. The state of being in fault; accusation, imputation. குற்றம்பார்க்க--குற்றம்பிடிக்க, inf. To find fault, to be censorious. குற்றம்பார்க்கிற்சுற்றமில்லை. Censoriousness destroys friendship. குற்றமில்லான்--குற்றங்களில்லான், s. Argha--as an immaculate being, அருகன். 2. Any holy being; an innocent person. குற்றமிறுக்க, inf. To pay a fine. குற்றம்பாராட்ட, inf. To exaggerate one's faults; to magnify guilt; to dwell too much upon one's faults. குற்றம்பொறுக்க, inf. To pardon, to forgive, to bear with faults. குற்றம்போட, inf. To impose a fine; to mulct. குற்றம்வாங்க, inf. To impose a fine. குற்றவாளி, s. A criminal, a malefactor, a culprit. 2. One convicted of crime. 3. A delinquent, an offender. கைக்குற்றம், s. Mistakes of the hand. See கை. 56)

murṇ (p. 357) s. Roughness, stubbornness, spitefulness, முரடு. 2. Fierceness, கொடுமை. 3. (சது.) Strength, வலி. 4. A word, or expression, in opposition to another, எதிர்ப் பொருள், as பகல், இரா, &c. 5. One of the six members of a poem, ஓர்தொடை. 6. A fight, a battle, போர். (p.) முரண்டொடை, s. A kind of poetry consisting of words taken in contrast. See தொடை. முரண்பட, inf. To be opposite, contradictory, heterogeneous, contentious, மாறுபட. முரண்மறலி, s. Yama, இயமன். (p.) முரண்மொழி, s. [in rhet.] Contrast, antithesis, எதிர்மொழி. 54)
