To be washed or broken down-as the bank of a river, கரையிடிய. 3. To become partly bruised--as rice in a mortar, நொறுங்க. இடிகரை, s. A broken bank, margin, &c. of a river, tank or well. இடிசாமம், s. [vul.] A time of ruin, கெடுகாலம். 2. Defamation, reproach, நிந்தை. இடிசுவர், s. A dead wall, a broken wall. இடிவு, v. noun. Demolition, ruin, dilapidation, the washing or crumbling away of a bank. 87)

iṟu (p. 57) கிறது, இற்றது, ம், இற, v. n. To break, to be snapped off--as a stick, a rope; to be severed--as a limb, to be broken, lopped or cut off, be truncated, ஒடிய. 2. To perish, die, to be slain, சாவ. 3. To end, terminate, cease, become extinet, முடிவுற. 4. To decay, moulder, crumble, to be corroded; to decay--as a bone, கெட. (p.) அந்தக்குடியிற்றிறந்துபோயிற்று. That family has been reduced to indigence, and ruined. இறுமுறி, s. A discharged bond from which a piece is torn off. இறுவதஞ்சாமை, neg. v. noun. Fearlessness of loss--one of the eight qualities of a merchant, வணிகரெண்குணத் திலொன்று. இறுவரை, s. End, முடிவு. செறுநரைக்காணிற்சுமக்கவிறுவரைகாணிற்கிழக்கா ந்தலை. On seeing your foes, take them on your head (show them all attention); when the time of their departure comes, they will fall head-long of themselves. இறுவரையும்--இறுமளவும். Until death. இறுவாய், s. End, termination, இறுதி. இற்றுப்போக, inf. To be broken. இற்றுவிழ, inf. To break off and fall. குலையிற்றுவிழுந்தது. The bunch of fruit is fallen off. இறல், v. noun. Destruction, கேடு. இறுதி, s. End, termination, ending, expiration of a term, &c., முடிவு. 2. Death, perishing, extinction, சாவு. 3. Limit, bound, extent, எல்லை. உயிரிறுதியளவுங்கைவிடேன். Till death I will not forsake thee. இறுதிகாலம், s. The time of death, the end of all things, முடிவுகாலம். இறுதிநிலைத்தீவகம்--இறுதிவிளக்கு, s. A figure in rhetoric, an ellipsis. See தீவகம். 20)

utir (p. 60) --உதிரு, கிறது, உதிர்ந்தது, உ திரும், உதிர, v. n. To drop off, fall off--as leaves, fruits, &c.; to be blasted, nipped, to fall off--as the hair, by disease or age, சொரிய. 2. To be shaken with the wind or otherwise, அசைக்கப்பட்டுதிர. 3. To crumble, fall to pieces as cakes (பிட்டு), பிதிர. 4. To fall as tears, சிந்த. 5. To die (used in imprecations), சாவ. நீசீக்கிரமுதிர்ந்துபோவாய். You shall die soon (a curse). தாரகையுதிர்ந்த. The stars fell. (ஸ்காந்தம்.) பூவுதிரப்பிஞ்சுதிரக்காயுதிரக்கனியுதிர. Let blossoms, buds, unripe fruits, and fruits drop off; i. e. let people of all ages die--an imprecation. உதிர்ந்தசருகு, s. Withered leaves fallen from the tree. உதிர்ந்தசருகுணவொழியவுணவில்லான். He who feeds upon dry leaves abstaining from all kinds of food. (பாரதம்) உதிர்பருவம், s. The quality or consistency of a thing that easily crumbles. உதிர்மணல், s. Loose sand a little moist. இலையுதிர்காலம், s. The season of the fall of the leaf. உதிரி, s. That which falls off, or is separated, exfoliation, உதிர்ந்தது. 2. A disease, smallpox of various kinds, so called from the scabs falling off, ஓர்வைசூரி. 3. A species of plantain, ஓர்வகைவாழை. உதிரிக்குத்து, s. Aching pain incident to one attacked with உதிரி. உதிரித்தழும்பு, s. The pits left by the smallpox, அம்மைவடு. வரகுதிரி, s. A species of smallpox whose pustules are remarkably diminutive, like வரகு seeds. சருகுதிரி, s. A species of smallpox attended by the sloughing away of the affected flesh. மிளகுதிரி, s. A species of smallpox, the pustules of which are the size of pepper seeds. கல்லுதிரி, s. A species of smallpox the pustules of which are very large. உதிர், s. Powder, dust, any thing crumbled, பொடி. உதிர்வு, v. noun. Falling off, &c., உதிர்கை. 2. Crumbling to pieces, உகுகை. 20)

eccil (p. 73) s. Remains, or refuse of food, crumbs, orts (deemed impure), சேஷம். 2. Any thing defiled by contact with the mouth, saliva, &c., மிச்சில்; [ex எஞ்சு.] எச்சிற்கையாற்காக்கையுமோட்டான். He will not even scare away a crow with his hand while eating, lest any grain of rice fall thereby. எச்சிலாக்க--எச்சிற்படுத்த, inf. To defile food or any thing, by bringing it into contact with the mouth; to defile food by the hand, or spoon in feeding, உச்சிட்டப்படுத்த. 2. To deflour a woman, deprive a damsel of her virginity, either by force or with consent, கன்னிமைகெடுக்க. எச்சிலார், s. Low-caste people, இழிஞர். (p.) எச்சிலிலை--எச்சிற்கல்லை, s. The leaf on which one has eaten. எச்சிலுமிய--எச்சிலுமிழ--எச்சில் துப்ப, inf. To spit. (c.) எச்சில்வாய், s. Mouth unwashed after eating, கழுவாதவாய். எச்சிற்கலக்க, inf. To eat the food left by the bridegroom--as a Hindu bride does on the occasion of her marriage. 2. To eat the food left by others--as friends. எச்சிற்கலப்பு, s. The above ceremony. எச்சிற்காறியுமிழ், inf. To force up the phlegm and spit it out. எச்சிற்கிதம்பாட, inf. To assent to what is wrong from an unworthy motive. எச்சிற்குழி, s. A cavity in a court-yard, used as a spittoon, எச்சில் போடுங்குழி. எச்சிற்பட, inf. To become defiled--as food, &c., by saliva, or contact with the mouth. எச்சிற்பருக்கை, s. Grains of rice fallen while eating, சிந்திக்கிடக்குஞ்சோறு. எச்சிற்பேய், s. A diminutive demon exceedingly voracious, ஓர்பிசாசம். 2. A person very fond of dainties, பெ ருந்தீனிக்காரன். எச்சிற்றழும்பு--எச்சிற்றேமல், s. A kind of ring-worm supposed to be induced by contact with the saliva of others, தழுதணை. எச்சின்மாற்ற, inf. To purify a place after eating by smearing it anew with cowdung. கண்ணெச்சில், s. Evil imagined to be caused by other people's eyes. கண்ணெச்சிற்கழிக்க, inf. kolukolu (p. 146) க்கிறது, த்தது, க்கும், க்க, v. n. To become loose, disjointed, rickety, deranged in its parts, &c., கழல. (c.) 2. [loc.] To moulder, crumble into dust --as a dead body. 3. To be defeated in argument, &c., தோல்வியடைய. எலும்பெல்லாங் கொலுகொலுவாய்த் தெரிகிறது..... The bones all stick out. கொலுகொலுப்பு, v. noun. Becoming loose, disjointed. கொலுகொலுவெனக்கழல, inf. noṟukku (p. 284) கிறேன், நொறுக்கினேன், வேன், நொறுக்க, v. a. [sometimes improp. நொருக்கு.] To break, to crack, to crush, to smash to pieces, to make havoc, பொடியாக்க. 2. To bruise, to contuse, நருக்க. (c.) நொறுக்கரிசி, s. [inf. நொறுக்கரிசிபட.] Rice broken through neglect in pounding, நொறுங்கியவரிசி. 2. [com. நறுக்கரிசி.] Rice half boiled, when it is most crumbling, used to denote a certain stage in the boiling rice. நொறுக்கரிசிப்பதம், s. [com. நறுக்கரிசிப் பதம்.] The state of boiling rice when it crumbles. நொறுக்கல்நெல், s. Paddy made too tender by moisture. நொறுக்கு, v. noun. Crushing, contusion, &c., as the verb. 2. (fig.) Beating, thrashing one lustily, அடிக்கை--as நொறு க்குநொறுக்கென்றுநொறுக்கினான், he gave him a good drubbing. நொறுக்குச்சக்கந்தம், s. Mockery, a joke, a jeer, பரிகாசம். (R.)

piḷ (p. 318) --பிள்ளு, கிறது, பிண்டது, [vul. புண்டது.] பிள்ளும், பிள்ள, v. n. To burst as a fruit, to open, to part, to be rent, பிள்ள. 2. To be broken or crumbled, as bread, unburnt brick, or any friable body, துண் டாக. (c.)--Note. This root is changed to பிட், as பிட்கிறேன், டேன், பேன், க, in a transitive meaning. There is also another, as பிடுகிறேன், பிட்டேன், பிடுவேன், பிட. இரண்டுபேருக்கும்பிட்டுக்கொண்டது. Both are in a state of disagreement. பிண்டுவிழுதல். v. noun. Sloughing off, caving in. 14)
