The planets in the Hindu system are nine, called நவக் கிரகம், viz.: 1. ஆதித்தன் or ஞாயிறு, the sun. 2. சோமன் or திங்கள், the Moon. 3. அங்காரகன் or செவ்வாய், Mars. 4. புதன், Mercury. 5. பிரகற்பதி--பிரகஸ்பதி or வியாழன், Jupiter. 6. சுக்கிரன் or வெள்ளி, Venus. 7. சனி, Saturn. 8. இராகு, Caput draconis. 9. கேது, Cauda draconis. The last two are considered visible in eclipses of the sun and moon, இராகு being, black, and கேது red. (See under கோள்.) 3. Relation in the order of time between a vocal and an instrumental sound -- the one immediately preceding or immediately following the other; one of the ten தாளப்பிரமாணம். அவனைக்கிரகம்பிடித்தாட்டுகிறது. An evil planet is exerting its influence on him. கிரகக்கழிப்பு, v. noun. Dispelling the evil influences of planets by appropriate ceremonies, கிரகசாந்தி. கிரகங்கழிக்க, inf. To perform a ceremony to dispel disease, &c., supposed to be induced by a malignant planet, in which clay images, made for the occasion representing the planets to be appeased, are worshipped, offerings of fruits, &c., being presented, and then all cast out in a cross road, கிரகசாந்திசெய்ய. கிரகசாத்திரம், s. Science of the planets. கிரகசாந்தி, s. A ceremony to counteract or mitigate the malignant effects of planets on one's person or affairs, கிரகக் கழிப்பு. கிரகசாந்திபண்ண, inf. To perform ceremonies for counteracting the evil effects of planets. கிரகசாரம்--கிரககதி, s. Planetary motion. 2. Planetary ephemeris. 3. The phenomena of the planets in their process. 4.
