In classical works, this in the form அருமருந்தன்னபிள்ளை is contracted to அருமந்த, precious as nectar, as, அருமந்தபிள்ளை. A very dear child, அருமந்ததேர். A very costly chariot. அருமறை, s. The sacred Vedas. Ell. 145. 4. அருமறைக்கொடியோன், s. A name of Dronácharya, the military preceptor of the Pandavas and Kurus, because of the Vedic device on his banner. அருமைப்படுத்த, inf. Ell. 118. அரும்பூட்டு, s. [prov.] A girdle, waist-string, necklace, &c., so short as scarcely to be brought to meet, a string, rope, &c., so short as to be tied with difficulty, a bow-string so short as to be liable to break if brought up too far, any thing too little, too short, too narrow, &c., எட்டாப்பூட்டு. 2. Difficulty in settling a negotiation, agreement, &c., இணக்கக்கூடாமை. 3. Entanglement, ensnarement, மோசத்திலகப்படுகை. 4. Forced connection in language, clauses disconnected or not joined naturally, difficult or unnatural; construction, தொடர்ச்சி யின்மை. சொற்களையரும்பூட்டாய்த் தொடுத்துப்பேசினான். He spoke in an unconnected manner. அரும்பொருள், s. Excellent advice, hard doctrine, a rare or difficult meaning. 2. A choice or precious article. அருவினை, s. A great sin. அருவினைகளைந்து. To allow a lucid interval, as to a dying person after a season of stupor, delirium, &c. அறிவுகொடுத்துக் கொல்லும். (Death, disease, &c.) will allow a lucid interval and then kill (him.) அறிவுசொல்ல, inf. To communicate instruction, give good advice, exhort. அறிவுடைமை, v. noun. Knowledge, the possession of knowledge. அறிவுணர்த்த--அறிவுபயிற்ற--அறி வுறுத்த, inf. To instruct, communicate instruction. அறிவுதிக்க, inf. To dawn as wisdom. அறிவுபிறக்க, inf. To dawn as knowledge in the mind, to become instructed, enlightened, informed. 2. To be restored as the senses, consciousness, &c. அறிவுப்பயிற்சி, s. Education. அறிவுமயக்கம், s. There are eight ways of obtaining the true knowledge of a thing or occurrence; viz.: 1. காட்சி, by the senses, especially the sight--by experiments, பிரத்தியட்சப்பிர மாணம். 2. அனுமானம், by inference, by drawing conclusions from what has been admitted or is supposed true--as நெருப்பிற்கு வியாப்பியம் புகையென்றறிதல், where smoke is, there is fire. 3. ஆகமம், by the testimony or assertions of great men, either orally or in writing, பெரியோர்வாய்ச்சொல். 4. அரு த்தாபத்தி, by deduction established from premises, அந்நியதாவநுபபத்தி--as இரவிலுணவி ல்லாமற் பகலுண்ணாதவனுக்குப் பருத்தல்கூடாதென் னுமுணர்ச்சி. 5. உவமானம், by similarity or likeness, comparison, மரை பசுப்போலென்னுமு ணர்ச்சி. 6. அபாவம், proof of non-existence-as முன்னில்லை, பின்னில்லை, முழுதுமில்லை, ஒன்றி ன்மற்றொன்றில்லை. 7. ஐதீகம், by traditional testimony--as இம்மாத்திற்பேயுளதென்பது, this tree is haunted by the devil. 8. சம்பவம், proof of co-existence--as ஆயிரத்தினூறுண்டெ னல், where a thousand is, there is a hundred. (p.) அளவையாகுபெயர், s. A metonymy in reference to measure, weight, number, &c. In Nannool, four kinds are given, எண்ணலளவையாகுபெயர், எடுத்தல ளவையாகுபெயர், முகத்தலளவையாகுபெயர், and நீட்டலளவையாகுபெயர். 15) *

A miscarriage, an abortion applied chiefly to brutes--the casting of the young, வயிற்றில்மரித்தது. அழிந்தோரைநிறுத்தல், v. noun. One of the eight constituent parts of virtue, அறத்துறுப்பு. அழிபுண், s. A foul ulcer, ஆறாப் புண். (M. Dic.) அழிமதி, s. Waste, extravagance, malicious intention, கெடுபுத்தி. அழிமுதல், s. Waste of property, as of capital, principal, &c. முதலழிவு. அழிம்பு, s. [vul.] The nin-payment of a debt or the non-restoration of another's property from dishonest motives, புரட்டு. 2. Ruin, devastation, injury, damage, கேடு. என்னுடையமைக்கழிம்புபேசுகிறான். He talks of destroying my property. அழிம்புசெய்ய, inf. To damage a thing. 2. To debauch a woman. அழிம்பன், s. [vul.] A spendthrift, a profligate, ஊதாரி. 2. One who makes excuses for not paying debts, restoring property, &c., புரட்டன். அழியாதபத்தினி, s. A name of D'hurupary, the wife of the Pandu princes. அழியாமுதல், s. Property devoted or entailed in perpetuity to a temple or other charity, நிலையான ஆஸ்தி. 2. God, கடவுள். அழியாமை, neg. v. noun. Incorruption, immortality, imperishableness, கெடாமை. அழிவழக்கு, s. An unjust lawsuit, a groundless prosecution, a frivolous or groundless defence, a lost lawsuit, அநி யாயவழக்கு. கற்பழியாதபெண், s. A pure virgin. அழிகை, v. noun. Destruction, decay, ruin, சிதைவு. அழிவு, v. noun. Decay, injury, ruin, loss, desolation, the act of perishing. கேடு. 2. That which has perished of itself, கெட்டது. 3. [contracted into இந்தியம்.] An organ of sense, or organ of the body, பொறி; [ex இந்திர, the soul or self, or what is with difficulty restrained by the soul.] There are three kinds of இந்திரியம், or sensual organs; viz.: those of perception, those of action and the intellectual organs.
