One of the three நாடி, or passages for the breath--that through the left nostril, the lunar nerve or vessel, திரிநாடி யிலொன்று. 13. One of the (நாடி) nerves or arteries, தசநாடியிலொன்று. (See நாடி.) 14. (misused for எடை) Weight, gravity நிறை. (See சுழிமுனை, and பிங்கலை.) நல்லாரிடைப்புக்கு. Associating with the good. இடைகலை, s. The breath of the left nostril--as சந்திரகலை. See பிங்கலை. இடைக்கட்டு, s. A girdle, sash. 2. The allowance made for the weight of a vessel before weighing any thing in it. இடைக்காடன், s. A Rishi or சித்தன்--one of the eighteen. இடைக்கிடை. Here and there, interspersed, நடுநடுவே. 2. Of like weight, even weight, equilibrium, நிறைக்குநிறை இடைக்குலநாதன், s. Vishnu as brought up by shepherds. இடைக்குறை, s. [in grammar.] A word shortened in the middle, syncope, elision; as ஓதி for ஓந்தி, camelion. (See விகாரம்.) 2. An island, blank space in a river, &c., ஆற்றிடைக்குறை. இடைக்கொள்ளை, s. Pillaging, plunder, free booty, plundering without regard to either party, நடுக்கொள்ளை. 2. (in Agastiar.) The ravages of an epidemic discase, கொள்ளைநோயான்வருமழிவு. இடைசுருங்குபறை, s. A small drum tapering in the middle, உடுக்கை. இடைசூரி, s. [prov.] Gold or silverbeads interspersed here and there between sacred or other beads, உருத்திராக்க முதலியவற்றிற்கிடையிற்கோத்திடுவது. இடைச்சனி--இடையெழுஞ்சனி, s. The eleventh lunar asterism, in which Saturn is considered very malignant. See கடையெழுஞ்சனி and முதலெழுஞ் சனி. இடைச்சன், s. The second child, இரண்டாம்பேறு. (c.) இடைச்சாதி, s. The second or middle tribe of வைசியர்--the third caste. இடைச்சேரி, s. A shepherd's village. இடைத்தட்டு, s. Getting profit indirectly by interposing between parties, &c. or by purchasing goods of one and selling them again from a distance. இடைநடு, s. The middle emphatically (a pleonasm in rhetoric.) இடைநரை, s. Hair or beard growing grey here and there. இடைநிலை, s. In verbs generally, the characteristics of tense, வினையிடைநிலை. 2. A neutral state, neutral or middle state, stagnation in business transactions, இருபுறத்திலுஞ்சாராமனிற்கை. 3. In some compound nouns, one of the component parts, பெயரிடைநிலை. இடைநிலைத்தீபகம், s. One of the beauties of poetry, விளக்கணிமூன்றிலொன்று. See தீபகம். இடைநிலைமயக்கு, s. [in orthography.] The proper combination of letters in the middle of a word, மொழியி லிரண்டெழுத்து மயங்கிநிற்கை--if the same consonant be repeated in the middle of a word, it is called, உடனிலைமெய்மயக்கு; if otherwise, it is called, வேற்றுநிலைமெய்ம யக்கு. இடைநீரினிற்க, inf. [prov.] To swim with the body erect and the water only up to the waist. இடைப்பட, inf. To interpose, happen in the interim, come in, between, among, &c., to happen, இடையிலுண்டாக. இடைப்படுதானம், s. Giving of a secondary order, bestowing through pity on the poor, the blind, மத்திமதானம். இடைப்பழம், s. Ripe fruits interspersed among the unripe. இடைப்பழம்பழுத்தல், v. noun. Ripening as fruits here and there. இடைப்பிறவரல், v. noun. Words intervening between any one word and another with which it makes sense--as between the noun and its attribute, &c., எழுவாய்முதலிய தொடரினுள் இடையிலேற்ற பிற சொல்வரல். இடைப்புழுதி, s. Land in a state for sowing, neither very moist nor very dry, காய்ந்துங்காயாதிருக்கிறபுழுதி. இடைப்புள்ளி, s. Marks scattered here and there--as in tobacco leaves, &c., fruits, &c. இடைப்பூட்டு, s. A truss, girdle, அரைப்பூட்டு. இடைப்போகம், s. An interior crop, out of season, இடையிற்புன்பயிர்விளைவு. இடைமடக்கு, s. Silencing one by vociferation, இடையிற்றடுக்கை. 2. Haughty speaking, இடக்குமடக்கானபேச்சு. 3. [in prosody.] The repetition of a word in the middle of a line with a varied meaning. See மடக்கு. இடைமுள், s. Small, new eruptions about a healing ulcer or bile, மறு முள்பாய்கை. 2. A disease, a kind of eruption, ஓர்கரப்பன். இடைமேடு, s. Rice-land of moderate height, நடுத்தரமானமேடு. இடையற, inf. To cease or terminate suddenly. இடையறாவன்பு, s. Never-ceasing love. இடையன், s. (fem. இடைச்சி.) A shepherd--as occupying a middle position. இடைப்புத்திபிடரியிலே. The shepherds have their wit in their nape; i. e. they have none. இடையன்கால்வெள்ளி, s. [prov.] The star Aldabaran in the constellation Aries, ஓர்விண்மீன். இடையாந்தரம், s. An intermediate space or time. அந்தவேலை யிடையாந்தரத்திலே கெட்டுப்போ யிற்று. The business was interrupted, spoiled in the interim. இடையாயர், s. Persons of a middling class in piety, excellence, &c. See தலை and கடை. இடையிட, inf. To intervene, be interspersed, to have intermediate spaces either of time or place, to intermit, happen intermediately, நடுவிற்றோன்ற. இடையிட்டுவந்தசெல்வம், s. Acquired wealth and prosperity, obtained during life, not derived from ancestors. இடையிட்டெதுகை, s. The எது கை or rhyming of the third letter in every other line. இடையிடை. From time to time, at intervals, intervening space. இடையிலேகொண்டுபோக, inf. To take by theft or force, to plunder fruits, furniture, &c. 2. To take off property at one's death--as persons who are not heirs. 3. To seize and carry off property from one who has stolen it--as a constable from a thief. (c.) இடையிலேவயிறுவளர்க்க, inf. To get a living at the expense of others, not reducing one's own stock. (c.) இடையினவெதுகை, s. One of the இனவெதுகை--that in which the second letter of each line is any of the medial letters. இடையீடு, s. Obstacle, impediment, frustration, விக்கினம். 2. Equivalent, equilibrium, ஈடு. இடையூறு, s. Frustration, interruption, disappointment, obstruction, hinderance, mishap, casualty, contingence, misfortune, disaster, இடர். (c.) இடையெண், s. A poem increasing and decreasing like the waves of the sea, அம்போதரங்கத்தொன்று. இடையொடுகடைமடக்கு, s. A figure in Rhetoric, repetition of a word or phrase in the middle and end of a line with different meanings, மடக்கணியி லொன்று. இடைவழக்கு, s. [prov.] A suit at law instituted by a new claimant while the previous one is going forward, கிளை வழக்கு. இடைவழக்காளி, s. An intervening party in a law-suit. இடைவழி, s. Midway. இடைவள்ளல், s. A term common to the second of the three classes of kings famed for liberality. (p.) இடைவாய், s. The degrees marked upon a steel-yard. இடைவிட, inf. To intermit, suspend, interrupt, leave intermissions, interstices, &c. இடைவிட்டுவிட்டு. Every other one. இடைவிடாமழை, s. Incessant rain. இடைவிடாமல், neg. v. part. Incessantly, constantly, without intermission. இடைவெட்டுப்பணம், s. A clipped or imperfectly stamped coin, மாறுமத் திரைவிழுந்தபணம். 2. [prov.] Profit made indirectly, பொறுக்கியெடுத்தபணம். இடைவெட்டுப்பேச்சு, s. Derision, ridicule. இடைவெளி, s. An intervening space, நடுவெளி. எட்கிடை--எள்ளிடை, s. The thickness of a rape-seed. There are eight kinds of ஊறு or sensations given, viz.: 1. வெம்மை, heat. 2. தண்மை, cold. 3. மேன்மை, Softness, thinness, fineness. 4. வன்மை, hardness. 5. நொய்மை, slenderness, tenuity. 6. சீர்மை. smoothness. 7. இழுமெனல், slipperiness, 8. சருச்சரை, roughness, unevenness. ஊறுகாட்டினர்க்கு. To those who inflict wounds, &c. ஊறுகொள்ள, inf. To receive a hurt, suffer violence, காயங்கொள்ள. (இ ராமா.) ஊறுகோள், s. Injury, violence, wounds inflicted, காயம். 2. Murder, கொ லை. (p.) ஊறுபாடு, s. Wounds, scars, காயம். 2. Injury, damage, violence, தீமை. 3. The four ways of inflicting injury, viz.: எறிதல், குத்தல், வெட்டல் and எய்தல். ஊறுவைக்க, inf. kṭ (p. 87) க்கிறேன், ந்தேன், ப்பேன், க்க, v. a. To jump, leap, or bound over, to step or stride over, தாண்ட. 2. To pass or get over, to cross, pass through a river, a country, &c., to traverse, கடந்துபோக. 3. To exceed, go beyond, surpass, அளவிறக்க. 4. To go too far, transgress, deviate from rule, disobey, violate to command, a custom, &c., மீற. 5. To go, pass by, proceed, pass--as time, water, clouds, shadow, &c., to become obsolete, செல்ல. 6. To relinquish, surmount, escape from the sea of births, the world, &c. (ஞா. 5.) 7. To depart from, நீங்க. 8. To overcome, conquer, vanquish, செயிக்க. நீங்கிக்கடப்பனேல். If I depart (from her)-அவனையூணக்கடக்கத்துரத்தினார்கள், They drove him out of the town. கூற்றைக்கடத்தலரிது. It is difficult to escape from Yama (the regent of the dead). வியாதிகடந்துபோயிற்று. The disease is past cure. மண்டமர்கடந்தவொள்வேலின்மின்னி. Glittering like the shining spear which had gained many a hard-fought battle-காவல்கடந்து. Entering by force in spite of the guard-- (கைலாய.) நீதிநெறிகடவான். He will not deviate from the path of virtue. ஆறுகடக்குமளவும்அண்ணன்தம்பியெனல் ஆறுக டந்தால்நீயார்நானாரெனல். We were brothers till we had passed the river but since then we are strangers; i. e. since he got his object he does not care for me. கடத்தேற--கடந்தேற, inf. To be saved. கடத்தேற்ற, inf. To save, to rescue, to bestow a permanent good, இர ட்சிக்க. கடத்தேற்றம், v. noun. Deliverance, final emancipation, இரட்சிப்பு. கடந்தஎண்ணம், s. Excessive ambition, self-conceit. கடந்தஞானம், s. Transcendent wisdom. கடந்தநிலை, s. A transcendent degree--that of the ascetic. கடந்தேற, inf. To rise to a higher degree in religion, நற்கதியடைய. 2. To pass safely through disasters, difficulties, &c., to be saved, இடையூறுகடக்க. அணைகடந்தவெள்ளம், s. A flood overflowing an embankment. ஆணைகடத்தல், v. noun. Violating an oath. 2. Disobeying the orders of a superior. 3. Disregarding the solemn adjuration of a conjurer--as wild beasts. கடப்பு, v. noun. Passing over, க டக்கை. 2. s. A stile or other contrivance in a lane or hedge which a man may pass over or through, but not cattle, இடுக்குமரமுதலியன. கடப்புக்கால், s. [prov.] Bandy legs, வளைந்தகால். கடவான், s. [prov.] A channel cut in the ridge of a rice-field to let the surplus water pass away, or for watering the next field, நீர்மடை. கடவு, s. [prov.] Way, path, வழி. கடவுமரம், s. A turn-stile--as கடவை. கடவை, s. Fault, defect, crime, குற்றம். (பிங்.) 2. A leap, jump, passing over, கடக்கை. 3. The door of a native house, garden, &c., the sill of which is to be stepped over, வாயில். 4. A ladder, ஏணி. 5. A break or opening in a fence with some obstructions or stoppage at the bottom, வேலியினிடைவெளி. 6. [prov.] a stile, &c., in a path to exclude cattle, கடப்பு. கடவைப்பட, inf. To be going away--as a troublesome or mischievous person, நீங்க. 2. To disappear as property by stealth, காணாமற்போக. 2)

kli (p. 96) s. Noise, clamor, sound, ஒலி. 2. The கலிப்பா. species of verse and its varieties. (See பா.) 3. Sea, ocean, கடல். 4. Battle, war, போர். 5. Deceit, fraud, வஞ்சகம். 6. Strength, force, வலி. See கலியுகம். கலிக்குப்புதுமையானகாரியமாயிருக்கிறது. It is a strange thing in this age. கலிகாலம், s. A time of misery, bad times--as resulting from the present age, கொடுமையானகாலம். கலிதீர்த்தான். He who put an end to misery. கலித்தளை, s. Mode of connexion of metrical feet in கலிப்பா. See தளை. கலித்தாழிசை, s. A class of verse, கலிப்பாவினத்திலொன்று. கலித்துருமம், s. The தான்றிமரம்-A tree yielding a nut much used in medicines, it is said in நைடதம் that Kali, the god of the iron age, once concealed himself in the fruit of this tree, Terminalia bellerica. (p.) கலித்துறை, s. A class of verse including several species, கலிப்பாவினத்தி லொன்று. கட்டளைக்கலித்துறை, s. A class of கலித்துறை verse. கலிப்பா, s. A verse of which there are ten kinds, viz.: 1. நேரிசை ஒத்தாழிசைக் கலிப்பா. 2. அம்போதரங்க ஒத்தாழிசைக்கலிப்பா. 3. தரவு கொச்சக்கலிப்பா. 4. தரவிணைக்கொச்சக் கலிப்பா. 5. சிஃறாழிசைக்கொச்சக்கலிப்பா. 6. பஃறாழிசைகொச்சக்கலிப்பா. 7.மயங்கிசைக்கொ ச்சக்கலிப்பா. 8. ஒருபோகு கொச்சக்கலிப்பா. 9. வண்ணக ஒத்தாழிசைக்கலிப்பா. 1. வெண் கலிப்பா. கட்டளைக்கலிப்பா, s. A species of கலிப்பா verse. கலியர், s. Soldiers, warriors, combatants, படைவீரர். 2. The poor, destitute, தரித்திரர். (p.) கலியாத்தம்--கலியாப்தம், s. keṭu (p. 137) கிறேன், கெட்டேன், வேன், கெட, v. n. To perish; to be destroyed, annihilated, அழிய. 2. To putrefy, rot, decay; to become tarnished, damaged, marred, blighted, கேடுற. 3 To be ruined in circumstances, வறுமையுற. 4. To be violated in chastity, கற்பழிய. 5. To degenerate, deteriorate; to change for the worse, morally or physically, நிலைகெட. 6. To be emaciated, reduced; to be deformed, disfigured, உருவழிய. 7. To be defeated, overcome, தோற்க. 8. To be intrinsically bad, evil or wrong, குணங்கெட. 9. To fall into ruin; to be demolished, destroyed, நாசமுற. 1. To be lost--as an article of property, &c., dropped, stolen or otherwise, காணாமற்போக. 11. To be squandered, spent, wasted, பொருள ழிய. 12. To be worn out, சிதைய. 13. To expire, to terminate--as the retribution of former deeds, வினைகெட. 14. [in gram.] To be elided, dropped, விகாரத்தாற்கெட. கெடுவாய். May you perish--a form of imprecation. கெட்டாற்குற்றார்கிளையிலுமில்லை. In poverty, friends are not found even among relations. கெட்டேனே. Ah! I am lost, ruined; I an undone. கெட்டுப்போனபார்ப்பானுக்குச் செத்துப்போனப சுவைத்தானங்கொடுத்தாற்போல. As if a dead cow be presented to a ruined brahman; said of an unprofitable pursuit by an incompetent person. கெட்டும்பட்டணஞ்சேர். Though to be ruined, go to the town. தரித்திரங்கெடும்படி. That the misery of poverty may cease. ஈற்றுயிர்மெய்கெடும். The final compound letter is dropped. கெடுகுடிசொற்கேளாது. A family given up to ruin will never listen to advice. கெட்டகுடியேகெடும். A ruined family will sink more and more. கெடுகாலம், s. A time of ruin, evil, drought, &c.; also used reference to retribution of evil deeds which is to come immediately. கெடுமதி, s. Wicked devices. 2. Folly, rashness, presumption. 3. Loss, ruin, waste. கெடுமதி கண்ணுக்குத் தெரியாது. Folly is blind. கெடுவான், appel. n. He who will perish--the wretch; commonly used abusively. கெட்டதனம், s. Bad disposition; badness. 2. Indecorum, incivility. கெட்டநடத்தை, s. Immoral or vile conduct. கெட்டநிலை, s. A bad state, a woful plight. 2. A dangerous profession. 3. A dangerous way or system--as of religion. கெட்டபுத்தி, s. Perverted understanding. 2. Bad counsel, &c. கெட்டமணம், s. An offensive smell. கெட்டரூபம், s. A deformed, monstrous or horrid shape. கெட்டவியாதி, s. A bad, malignant, dangerous disease. 2. The venereal or other filthy disease. கெட்டகேடு, s. Utter ruin, uselessness, unworthiness, &c.--usually as an exclamation கெட்டுப்போனவள், s. A seduced woman, a bad woman. கெடுதலை, v. noun. Ruin, அழிவு. 2. Damage, loss, detriment, injury, நஷ்டம். 3. Disaster, calamity, இடையூறு. 4. Degeneracy, vileness, evil, இழிவு. கெடுதல், v. noun. Perishing; being ruined, spoiled, defeated, &c. 2. Damage, injury, calamity, &c. 3. [in gram.] Elision, omission. கெடுதி, s. Loss of any thing dropped, stolen, or strayed, &c., இழப்பு. 2. Loss --opposed to gain, in astrological calculations, augural divinations, &c., நஷ்டம். The five species of land are: 1. குறிஞ்சி, hilly tracts. 2. பாலை. desert, arid tracts. 3. முல்லை, sylvan tracts. 4. மருதம், agricultural tracts. 5. நெய்தல், maritime tracts.--Note. The varieties in love are seven, of which five are taken from the names of the species of land above mentioned, viz.: 1. கைக்கிளை. 2. குறிஞ்சி; 3. பாலை; 4. முல்லை; 5. மருதம், for which, see அகப்பொருள். No trouble or no loss. பாடுவந்தாற்றாங்கமாட்டேன். If damage come, I will not bear it. இதுஉடன்பாடுதான். This is your duty. பாடெம்மாத்திரம். How much waste? (by melting. &c.) அவரவர்பாட்டிலேபோங்கள்.
