Symmetry, well formed human or other shape as of letters, &c., as பாவனை. 6. (p.) A division of learning comprehending such science as is considered dependent on the Vedas; hence called வே தாங்கம், சாங்கம், உபாங்கம் and பிரத்தியாங்கம். 7. A country, ஓர்தேயம். 8. The signs of the stars, &c., at one's birth. அங்கசாதனம்பிடித்தல். Finding out any thing by signs or circumstances fixing suspicion upon one. அங்கசேட்டை--அங்கசேஷ்டை, s. Distortion of the countenance from habit, grimace; ex சேஷ்டை, gesture. அங்கநியாசம், s. A mental appropriation or the assignment of various parts of the body to tutelary divinities, by touching the several parts, and applying sacred ashes, accompanied with incantations, according to the usual mode of Hindu worship; ex. நியாஸ, arrangement. (p.) அங்கபடி--அங்கவடி, s. Stirrup, குதிரையங்கபடி. (c.) அங்கப்பிரதக்கணம்--அங்கப்பிரதட் சிணம், s. A mode of worship by rolling round a temple after a car, &c., turning to the right, in performance of a vow, &c.; (c.) ex பிர, before, et தட்சிணம், right. அங்கப்பிராயச்சித்தம், s. Expiation for bodily impurity, especially the oblation offered by the heir at the first funeral obsequies to remove the impurity contracted during the period of mourning. (c.) அங்கமாலை, s. A பிரபந்தம் or poem describing the principal members of the body, such as the eye, face, breasts, &c., in the female, and shoulders, arms, breast, &c., in the male. The order of description must be from the feet to the hair of the head, or from the head to the feet. (p.) அங்கயோகம், s. The eight qualities of a Yogi. See யோகம். (p.) அங்கரக்கா, s. [local] அங்கரட்சா. A jacket, மெய்ச்சட்டை. அங்கரட்சிணி, s. A coat of mail. (p.) அங்கராகம், s. Anointing the body with perfumes, sacred ashes, sandal, &c., ex ராகம், anointing. (p.) அங்கர், s. āṭi (p. 38) s. The month of July, கர்க் கடகமாதம். (c.) 2. (p.) The twenty-first lunar asterism, உத்திராடநாள். 3. Mirror, கண்ணாடி. ஆடிக்கரு, s. Dark clouds in July regarded as indicative of plentiful rains in the ensuing monsoons. ஆடிக்கருவழிந்தால் மழைகுறைந்துபோம். If the teeming clouds in July discharge their contents, the rains will fail in the ensuing season. ஆடிக்கழைக்க, inf. To take away or separate the newly married woman from her husband, and to put her under her parents during the month of July of their first year of marriage. This separation is indispensable to prevent conception in that month, and delivery in the coming April, which is believed to bring ruin upon the family. ஆடிப்பண்டிகை, s. The first day of July (ஆடி.) a day of feasting, mutual visits, &c., when the sun is supposed to enter on its southern course. ஆடிப்பெருக்கு, s. A festival held on the day when the Cavery over-flows in July. 8)

An annual festival in September, when worship for nine days is offered to different kinds of weapons, tools, books, &c.--as a personification of Durga, Lukshmi and Sarasvati, the goddesses of war, wealth and learning; there days being appropriated to each, and no learning, or special exercise attended to, during this time, நவராத்திரி. ஆயுதவகை, s. āṟṟu (p. 43) கிறேன், ஆற்றினேன், வேன், ஆற்ற, v. a. To cool, refresh, குளிரச்செய்ய. 2. To assuage, appease, alleviate, soothe, console, compose, lull, mitigate, தணிக்க. 3. To slack, loosen what is tied or twisted, முறுக்குத்தளர்த்த. (c.) 4. (p.) To do, act, perform a duty, செய்ய. 5. To bear a weight, தாங்க. 6. To carry, or sustain a burden or calamity, பொறுக்க.--Note. This verb is sometimes used impersonally--as இந்த வழியென்னாலேயாற்றாது. I cannot get along this road. ஆற்ற, inf. [used adverbially.] Greatly, exceedingly, மிகுதியாய். அமிழ்தினுமாற்றவினிதே. Sweeter than nectar. (குறள்.) கணவராற்றமுனிந்தே. The husbands greatly resenting. ஆற்றாக்கேடு, s. Extreme poverty, indigence exigence, great necessity. ஆற்றாச்சண்டி, s. One who perversely persists in application for aid through poverty, one past shame, an insatiable wretch. ஆற்றாத்தனம், s. Insatiableness. ஆற்றாப்பட்சம், s. What cannot be borne, intolerableness--as ஆற்றாமை. ஆற்றாமை, neg. v. noun. Inability to bear--as excessive hunger, pain, &c., சகிக்கக்கூடாமை. 2. Impatience, பொறா மை. 3. Voracity, voraciousness, insatiableness, திருத்தியின்மை. ஆற்றார், s. Foes, opponents, rivals, those who envy one, பகைவர். 2. The poor, the afflicted, தரித்திரர். (p.) ஆற்றிக்கொடுக்க, inf. To cool and give. 2. To help or relieve one at work. ஆற்றித்தேற்ற, inf. To soothe and console. ஆற்றிப்போற்றிக்கொள்ள, inf. To treat guests with civility, விருந்தினரை யுபசரிக்க. 2. āḷ (p. 43) --ஆளு, கிறேன், ஆண்டேன், வேன், ஆள, v. a. To rule, reign, exercise royal power, whether supreme or delegated, அரசுசெய்ய. 2. To possess and employ slaves, அடிமையாள. 3. To possess and enjoy the produce of land, the use of a house, &c., ஆட்சிசெய்ய. 4. To govern a wife, household, &c., குடும்பத்தையாள. 5. To accept, adopt--as a servant, slave, &c., receive into protection, ஆட்கொள்ள. 6. To use, establish usage--as in language, மொ ழியாட்சிசெய்ய. 7. To cherish, maintain, cultivate, exercise, ஓம்ப. 8. To manage, direct, கையாள. (c.)--Note. An appellative affix is formed from ஆள் by adding அன், for the singular, and அர் for the plural-as பகையாளன், a foe; பகையாளர், foes. ஆளமாட்டாதவனுக்குப்பெண்டேன்? What does he want with a wife, who cannot govern her? எடுத்தாளாதபொருளுதவாது. A thing not used becomes useless. என்னைமகிழ்வாலிசைந்தாளில். If thou receivest me with cheerfulness into thy protection. நட்பாள்பவர். Those sincerely united in friendship. யாமத்துமாளுந்தொழில். Employed even by night. (குறள்.) சான்றோராலாளப்பட்டசொல். A word used by the learned ancients. மன்னுயிரோம்பியருளாள்வார். They who cherish and exercise charity toward all living. அல்லலருளாள்வார்க்கில்லை. Evil cannot assail the charitable. ஆண்டவன்--ஆண்டான், appel. noun. A ruler, governor, lord, master, ஆள்வோன். ஆண்டி, s. [fem. ஆண்டிச்சி.] A religious mendicant of the Siva sect, a devotee, சிவனடியான். 2. A ruler, an appellative of the deity, transferred to the devotee. ஆண்டை, s. [fem. ஆண்டைச்சி.] A master, lord, landlord--as spoken by low castes, in reference to their feudal chief of superior caste, எசமானன். சத்தியமாய்்ச்சொல்லுகிறேனாண்டைகேளீர். My lord, listen to me; I will confess the truth. (ஞானவெட்.) ஆட்சி, v. noun. Possession, heritage, inheritance, title, உரிமை. 2. Government, domination, rule, reign, ஆளு கை. 3. Use, practice, occupancy, usage-especially in language by classical writers, வழக்கம். ஆட்சித்தானம்--ஆட்சிராசி, s. [in astrology.] One of the five situations in which a planet has government--that of its being in a sign deemed its own, during which it exerts special benignity --an occurrence favorable to the birth of a child, &c. ஆட்சிப்பட, inf. To become one's right by long possession, தற்கிழமை யாக. நெடுநாளாயவனுக்காட்சிப்பட்ட தெய்வம். A spirit or demon that has long been subject to him, or with which he has long been familiar. ஆட்சிப்படுத்த, inf. To secure a title by long possession, தற்கிழமையாக்க. ஆளுகை, v. noun. Rule, government, domination, authority. ஆளுகைசெய்ய, inf. To exercise government. ஆள்வாரில்லாமாடு, s. A cow or bull appropriated to a temple, which is left to stray as it likes; such are well received and fed. 59)

iṭai (p. 45) s. Middle, midst, centre, நடு. 2. The middle of a body, the waist, மருங்குல். 3. As இடைச்சொல்--a particle. 4. Interval of time, &c., நடுநேரம். 5. (p.) Interim, opportunity, con venient season, season, சமயம். 1. The full moon, பௌரணை. 11. A measure of length, breadth, thickness, &c., நீட்டலளவையிலொ ன்று. 12. One of the three நாடி, or passages for the breath--that through the left nostril, the lunar nerve or vessel, திரிநாடி யிலொன்று. 13. One of the (நாடி) nerves or arteries, தசநாடியிலொன்று. (See நாடி.) 14. (misused for எடை) Weight, gravity நிறை. (See சுழிமுனை, and பிங்கலை.) நல்லாரிடைப்புக்கு. Associating with the good. இடைகலை, s. The breath of the left nostril--as சந்திரகலை. See பிங்கலை. இடைக்கட்டு, s. A girdle, sash. 2. The allowance made for the weight of a vessel before weighing any thing in it. இடைக்காடன், s. A Rishi or சித்தன்--one of the eighteen. இடைக்கிடை. Here and there, interspersed, நடுநடுவே. 2. Of like weight, even weight, equilibrium, நிறைக்குநிறை இடைக்குலநாதன், s. Vishnu as brought up by shepherds. இடைக்குறை, s. [in grammar.] A word shortened in the middle, syncope, elision; as ஓதி for ஓந்தி, camelion. (See விகாரம்.) 2. An island, blank space in a river, &c., ஆற்றிடைக்குறை. இடைக்கொள்ளை, s. Pillaging, plunder, free booty, plundering without regard to either party, நடுக்கொள்ளை. 2. (in Agastiar.) The ravages of an epidemic discase, கொள்ளைநோயான்வருமழிவு. இடைசுருங்குபறை, s. A small drum tapering in the middle, உடுக்கை. இடைசூரி, s. [prov.] Gold or silverbeads interspersed here and there between sacred or other beads, உருத்திராக்க முதலியவற்றிற்கிடையிற்கோத்திடுவது. இடைச்சனி--இடையெழுஞ்சனி, s. The eleventh lunar asterism, in which Saturn is considered very malignant. See கடையெழுஞ்சனி and முதலெழுஞ் சனி. இடைச்சன், s. The second child, இரண்டாம்பேறு. (c.) இடைச்சாதி, s. The second or middle tribe of வைசியர்--the third caste. இடைச்சேரி, s. A shepherd's village. இடைத்தட்டு, s. Getting profit indirectly by interposing between parties, &c. or by purchasing goods of one and selling them again from a distance. இடைநடு, s. The middle emphatically (a pleonasm in rhetoric.) இடைநரை, s. Hair or beard growing grey here and there. இடைநிலை, s. In verbs generally, the characteristics of tense, வினையிடைநிலை. 2. A neutral state, neutral or middle state, stagnation in business transactions, இருபுறத்திலுஞ்சாராமனிற்கை. 3. In some compound nouns, one of the component parts, பெயரிடைநிலை. இடைநிலைத்தீபகம், s. One of the beauties of poetry, விளக்கணிமூன்றிலொன்று. See தீபகம். இடைநிலைமயக்கு, s. [in orthography.] The proper combination of letters in the middle of a word, மொழியி லிரண்டெழுத்து மயங்கிநிற்கை--if the same consonant be repeated in the middle of a word, it is called, உடனிலைமெய்மயக்கு; if otherwise, it is called, வேற்றுநிலைமெய்ம யக்கு. இடைநீரினிற்க, inf. [prov.] To swim with the body erect and the water only up to the waist. இடைப்பட, inf. To interpose, happen in the interim, come in, between, among, &c., to happen, இடையிலுண்டாக. இடைப்படுதானம், s. Giving of a secondary order, bestowing through pity on the poor, the blind, மத்திமதானம். இடைப்பழம், s. Ripe fruits interspersed among the unripe. இடைப்பழம்பழுத்தல், v. noun. Ripening as fruits here and there. இடைப்பிறவரல், v. noun. Words intervening between any one word and another with which it makes sense--as between the noun and its attribute, &c., எழுவாய்முதலிய தொடரினுள் இடையிலேற்ற பிற சொல்வரல். இடைப்புழுதி, s. Land in a state for sowing, neither very moist nor very dry, காய்ந்துங்காயாதிருக்கிறபுழுதி. இடைப்புள்ளி, s. Marks scattered here and there--as in tobacco leaves, &c., fruits, &c. இடைப்பூட்டு, s. A truss, girdle, அரைப்பூட்டு. இடைப்போகம், s. An interior crop, out of season, இடையிற்புன்பயிர்விளைவு. இடைமடக்கு, s. Silencing one by vociferation, இடையிற்றடுக்கை. 2. Haughty speaking, இடக்குமடக்கானபேச்சு. 3. [in prosody.] The repetition of a word in the middle of a line with a varied meaning. See மடக்கு. இடைமுள், s. Small, new eruptions about a healing ulcer or bile, மறு முள்பாய்கை. 2. A disease, a kind of eruption, ஓர்கரப்பன். இடைமேடு, s. Rice-land of moderate height, நடுத்தரமானமேடு. இடையற, inf. To cease or terminate suddenly. இடையறாவன்பு, s. Never-ceasing love. இடையன், s. (fem. இடைச்சி.) A shepherd--as occupying a middle position. இடைப்புத்திபிடரியிலே. The shepherds have their wit in their nape; i. e. they have none. இடையன்கால்வெள்ளி, s. [prov.] The star Aldabaran in the constellation Aries, ஓர்விண்மீன். இடையாந்தரம், s. An intermediate space or time. அந்தவேலை யிடையாந்தரத்திலே கெட்டுப்போ யிற்று. The business was interrupted, spoiled in the interim. இடையாயர், s. Persons of a middling class in piety, excellence, &c. See தலை and கடை. இடையிட, inf. To intervene, be interspersed, to have intermediate spaces either of time or place, to intermit, happen intermediately, நடுவிற்றோன்ற. இடையிட்டுவந்தசெல்வம், s. Acquired wealth and prosperity, obtained during life, not derived from ancestors. இடையிட்டெதுகை, s. The எது கை or rhyming of the third letter in every other line. இடையிடை. From time to time, at intervals, intervening space. இடையிலேகொண்டுபோக, inf. To take by theft or force, to plunder fruits, furniture, &c. 2. To take off property at one's death--as persons who are not heirs. 3. To seize and carry off property from one who has stolen it--as a constable from a thief. (c.) இடையிலேவயிறுவளர்க்க, inf. To get a living at the expense of others, not reducing one's own stock. (c.) இடையினவெதுகை, s. One of the இனவெதுகை--that in which the second letter of each line is any of the medial letters. இடையீடு, s. Obstacle, impediment, frustration, விக்கினம். 2. Equivalent, equilibrium, ஈடு. இடையூறு, s. Frustration, interruption, disappointment, obstruction, hinderance, mishap, casualty, contingence, misfortune, disaster, இடர். (c.) இடையெண், s. A poem increasing and decreasing like the waves of the sea, அம்போதரங்கத்தொன்று. இடையொடுகடைமடக்கு, s. Particles employed to express the names of the letters--as அ with the consonants; கரம், காரம் and கான் with the short letters and sometimes with the consonants; காரம் with the long vowels and கான் with ஐ and ஔ. In common use, ன is used with the short, and ஆன and அன்னா with the long letters. Some other forms are also given in ancient grammars and they are also occasionally used. எழுத்துச்சுருக்கம், s. A kind of play on letters by omitting one after another in regular succession, and thus changing the sense, ஓரணி. எழுத்துச்சேலை--எழுத்துப்புடவை, s. A woman's fancy dress whether printed or embroidered, சித்திரவஸ்திரம். எழுத்துத்திரிதல், v. noun. Permutation of letters--the change of one letter for another according to grammatical rules, for the purposes of euphony, மூவிகாரத்தொன்று. எழுத்துநடை, s. Easy and fluent reading. எழுத்துப்படிய, s. inf. To become trained--as the hand to writing; to have a settled hand. எழுத்துப்பதிக்க, inf. To indent in writing, பதியவெழுத. 2. To enter, write, imprint, settle an affair by writing. எழுத்துப்பதிய, inf. To be indented--as writing, engraving. 2. To be entered, written. எழுத்துப்பிழை--எழுத்துப்பிசகு, s. Error in spelling. எழுத்துப்பொருத்தம், s. The five classes into which the letters are superstitiously divided. (See தசப்பொருத்தம்.) 2. Choosing a name for a child so as to begin with one of the letters ascribed in astrology to the lunar mansion, under whose influence the child is supposed to have been born, பிறந்தநட்சத்திரத்திற்குப் பொருந்தப்பெயரிடுகை. எழுத்துமடக்கு, s. Repetition of, the same letter in a verse, ஓரணி--as நா நாநாதம்கூடிசைநாடுந்தொழிலேவாய். எழுத்துவருத்தனம், s. A kind of diversion by means of poetry, a play on letters, the meaning changing as letters are added. See மிறைக்கவி. எழுத்துவாசனை, s. The art of reading and writing, எழுத்துநடை. எழுத்துவேலை, s. Chintz-painting, சீலையின்மீதெழுதுகை. 2. Writing, transcribing, copying, எழுதுந்தொழில். எழுத்தொலி--எழுத்தோசை, s. The sound of a letter. நுணுக்கெழுத்து, s. A character or letter written unintelligibly. கிறுக்கெழுத்து, s. A letter erased, cancelled; a letter badly written. கூட்டெழுத்து, s. Double letters, letters written together in a contracted form--as 9 for க்க; ட்ட for ட்ட; ? for த்த, &c. நீர்மேலெழுத்து, s. An inscription on the water--a simile expressive of that which is evanescent. கல்மேலேழுத்து, s. An inscription on a stone expressive of that which is stable and enduring. நல்லோரொருவர்க்குச்செய்தவுபகாரங் கன்மேலெழுத்துப்போற்காணுமே--அல்லாத ஈரமிலாநெஞ்சத்தார்க்கீந்தவுபகாரம் நீர்மேலெழுத்திற்குநேர். The valued favors the deserving gain, Like sculptures in eternal rock remain; Of virtue's tribute charity is sure: But kind attentions to the worthless shown, Who debts and duties evermore disown, Like letters written in the wave endure. முதுவெழுத்து--தேறியவெழுத்து, s. Matured well-formed writing. நிலவெழுத்து, s. Letters written on sand. இளவெழுத்து, s. An immature hand not yet formed. சுட்டெழுத்து, s. A demonstrative letter. நெட்டெழுத்து, s. A long sounding letter. சார்பெழுத்து, s. ēkōtiṭṭam (p. 77) --ஏகோதிஷ்டம், s. A principal part of the Shradd'ha or funeral rite performed at the house after the அந்தியேட்டி, for the benefit of the deceased, by the sons or other heirs. The officiating brahman personifies the manes of the deceased and receives whatever is presented, which should be sufficient for his support, till the anniversary of the death, during which he should not appear abroad or be seen by the heirs of the deceased whom he represents. oru (p. 83) adj. [changed from ஒன்று, which is the root.] Before vowels and sometimes before consonants, the உ often is dropped and the ஒ lengthened--as ஓரிலை, a leaf. In some connexions and with appropriate emphasis, it means sameness, singularity, peculiarity, specialness, celebrity, &c. ஒருகூடுமுடைந்தவனொன்பதுகூடுமுடைவான். . . . . He who has fabricated one bird's cage may fabricate nine. [prov.] ஒருகண்டசீராக, adv. In one uninterrupted course, monotonously, invariably, constantly. ஒருகண்டசீராகமழைபெய்கிறது. Partiality, especially to children. ஒருகாரியம், s. [prov.] One thing, something, a term used in calling or diverting attention, or in stating a reason, &c., in discussion. ஒருகால், s. A foot or one foot, ஒற்றைக்கால். 2. adv. [improp. ஒருக்கால்.] Once, sometime or other, for once, sometimes, ஒருமுறை. ஒருகாலிலேநிற்கிறான். He insists on (going, having, &c.), he is firmly resolved. ஒருகாலும். Never. ஒருகாலுஞ்செய்யான். He never does it, he never will do it, he never can do it. ஒருகாலுமில்லை. Never, at no time, not once. ஒருகாலுமுன்னைக்கைவிடேன். I will never forsake thee. ஒருகாலும்பொய்சொல்லான். He will never tell a lie. ஒருகாலே, adv. In great abundance, greatly. 2. Once, at once, continuously. ஒருகாலேகூட்டமாய்ப்போக. To go together in one continuous company. ஒருகாலே தேடிக் குவித்துக்கொண்டான். He has laid up a vast quantity. ஒருகாலேபேசுகிறானொன்றும்விளங்கவில்லை. He speaks a great deal, but nothing is understood. ஒருகாலேயுறுக்கிக்கொண்டுவருகிறார். He is scolding much. ஒருகாலேயெல்லாங்கொடுக்கிறது. To give all at once. ஒருகாலேயெல்லாஞ்செய்ய. To do all at once, to finish the whole. ஒருகாலேயெல்லாம்வாங்க. To receive altogether. ஒருகாற்கண்டசீராயிருக்க. To be unchangeable. ஒருகாற்செய்தவனிருகாற்செய்வான். He who has done so once, may do it again. இன்னமொருகால். Again, once more. மாற்றானுமொருகாலிதஞ்சொல்லுகிறான். Even one's foe may sometimes speak to one's advantage. ஒருகிடை, v. noun. Being bedridden; confinement by sickness or grief to a recumbent posture, கிடந்தகிடை. ஒருகிடையாகக்கிடத்தல். Lying still, unable or unwilling to rise. ஒருகுடி, s. The relations of one family. ஒருகுடித்தமர், s. Persons of the same family, near relatives--commonly on the paternal side, தாயத்தார். ஒருகூட்டு, s. Close union, combination between two persons, taking another's part, ஒருசேர்க்கை. ஒருகை, s. (fig.) Party, union, conjunction, combination, ஒருவகுப்பு, lit. one hand. அவர்களொருகையாயிருக்கிறார்கள். They are in combination, united in a conspiracy. அவர்களொருகை இவர்களொருகை. They are opposite parties. ஒருகைபரிமாறுதல், v. noun. Dealing out one course at table. ஒருகைபார்த்தல், v. noun. Coping with, striving for the mastery, &c., யார்வெல்வோமென்றுபார்த்தல். 2. Wrestling in combat, &c., once round as rivals. ஒருகைபார்த்துவிடுவோம். Let us fight one round. 2. Let us try for once. ஒருகைவிளையாடுதல், v. noun. Playing a game once round. ஒருகொள்ளை, s. A great deal, a great many. ஒருசந்தி, s. A partial fast during which one meal only is taken in the day, on Sunday in reference to the sun, by persons with diseased eyes; on Monday to Siva to cure diseases generally, &c., ஒருபொழுதுண்டல். ஒருசந்திப்பானையைநாயறியுமா. Can a dog distinguish a sacred vessel? ஒருசந்தியிருக்க, inf. To make but one meal a day. ஒருசாயல், s. Being alike, ஒருவி தம். 2. Singularity, அபூர்வம். ஒருசாயலாயிருக்க, inf. To be of the same likeness. ஒருசாய்வு, v. noun. A leaning, of one party, ஒருபட்சம். 2. [prov.] At once, altogether, ஒருமிக்க. 3. Without intermisson, continuously, இடைவிடாமை. ஒருசார்--ஒருசார்பு, s. One party. ஒருசிறை, s. One side, ஒருபக்கம். 2. adv. Partly, in some respects, to some extent, ஒருசார். ஒருசேர, adv. Altogether, at once, once, ஒருங்கு. (p.) ஒருசொன்னீர்மை, s. A compound word expressing a simple idea--as போய் விட்டான், he is gone. ஒருதரம், s. Once, ஒருமுறை. 2. One and the same kind, sort, &c., ஒருவி தம். ஒருதலை, s. Absoluteness, positiveness, indispensableness, by all means, நிச்சயம். 2. One side of a case or question, favor to one party where two are concerned, ஒருசார்வு. ஒருதலையாகச்சொல்லுதல். Speaking positively. 2. Giving partial judgment. ஒருதலையாய்ச்சேருதல். All holding to one point steadfastly. இவ்விகாரமொருதலையன்று. This grammatical change is not absolute. ஒருதலைக்காமம், s. Love on one side not yet reciprocated, love-intrigue, கைக்கிளை. ஒருதலைதுணிதல், v. noun. [in literature.] An author's choice or decision between two different sentiments found in the writings of others, 32--உத்தியி லொன்று. ஒருதலைநோவு--ஒருதலைவலி, s. Pain on one side of the head. ஒருதலைப்பாக்கு, s. [prov.] An imperfect arecanut, defective on one side. ஒருதலைவழக்கு--ஒருதலைநியாயம், s. Partiality in giving judgment, statements, descriptions, &c., leaning to one side or party, an ex-party statement. ஒருதலைவழக்குநூலினுஞ்செம்மை. The statement made by only one party in a suit is straighter than a line; i. e. one tale is good till another is told. ஒருதன்மை, s. Being of one and the same kind, ஒருவிதம். 2. Incomparableness, ஒப்பற்றதன்மை. 3. Unchangeableness, மாறாமை. ஒருதாரை, s. One edge. 2. adv. [prov.] At once, altogether, without interruption, ஒருமிக்க. ஒருதாரைக்கத்தி, s. One edged sword. ஒருத்தன், s. (fem. ஒருத்தி.) One person, one man, one only, denoting speciality, either good or bad. ஒருத்தருமில்லை. There is nobody. ஒருத்தரும்வரவில்லை. No one is come. ஒருத்தரொருத்தராய். One person at a time, singly. ஒருத்தரோடொருத்தர். One with another. ஒருத்தனுமப்படிச்செய்யான். No one will ever do so. தேவரீரொருத்தரேகருத்தர். Thou only art the Lord. அவனொருத்தன்வந்தான். He only is come. 2. That fellow is come. ஒருநெல்லுப்பெருவெள்ளை, s. [prov.] A kind of rice, ஓர்வகைநெல். ஒருநேரம், s. An unseasonable time. இவனிராத்திரியொருநேரத்தில்என்வீட்டுக்குவந் தான். He came last night to my house at an unseasonable hour. ஒருபடி, adv. Tolerably, ordinarily, ஒருவாறு. 2. In some degree, to some extent, ஒருவிதம். ஒருபடிசெய்துமுடித்தார்கள். They have done it, finished it, &c. with great labor. 2. They have done it defectively, exceptionably, not thoroughly. ஒருபடித்தாய். So and so, tolerably. ஒருபடியாக, inf. [used as an adverb.] In some sense, manner, degree, partly. 2. Tolerably, passably, in some way or other. 3. With great pains, with difficulty--as in escaping, &c. ஒருபவம், s. [as ஒருபிறப்பு.] One birth. ஒருபார்வை, s. Steadfast look, directing the eyes to one object, ஒருநோ க்கம். ஒருபாவொருபஃது. s. A பிரபந்தம் or poem of ten verses. ஒருபிடி, s. Firm determination, உறுதி. 2. Firm trust or dependence, ஒரேபற்று. 3. Stubbornness, persistence or perseverance, பிடிவாதம். ஒருபிரகாரம், adv. After a fashion, in a certain degree, to some extent. உன்முகமொருபிரகாரமாகத்தோன்றுகிறது. Your countenance appears strange. அவனொருபிரகாரமானவன். He is a singular kind of man. ஒருபுடை, s. In some respects, partly, to some extent. ஒருபுடைசெல்லல்--ஒருபுடைசே றல், v. noun. Going on one side, ஒருபக்க மாய்ப்போதல். ஒருபுடையொப்புமை, v. noun. Having an imperfect analogy. ஒருபொருட்டீவகம், [in rhetoric.] An ellipsis by which one word qualifies, or is qualified by a succession of dependent words, ஓரலங்காரம். ஒருபொருட்பன்மொழி, s. [in grammar.] An allowed tautology, மீமி சை--as நாகிளவண்டு, a young beetle; புனிற் றிளங்கன்று, a young calf. ஒருபொருள், s. One substance or being, i. e. God, கடவுள். ஒருபொழுது, s. One time, ஒரு காலம். 2. Eating once a day, ஒருசந்தி. ஒருபொழுதிப்படி ஒருபொழுதப்படி. In one view it is thus, in another it is not so. ஒருபொழுதுசாப்பிடுதல். Taking but one meal a day. ஒருபோகு, s. One for, or in behalf of another. ஒருவர்க்கொருவர். One with another. ஒருவிசை, s. One time, once. ஒருவியாழவட்டம், s. A revolution of Jupiter round the sun; i. e. twelve years. ஒருவினைச்சிலேஷை, [in rhetoric.] A figure in which the verb conveys two different meanings, சிலேஷையணியிலொன் று--as அம்பொற்பணைமுகத்துத் திண்கோட்டணி நாகம்--வம்புற்றவோடைமலர்ந்திலங்க, உம்பர்-நவம்புரியுமாநதியுநாண்மதியுநண்ணத்--தவம்புரி வார்க்கின்பந்தரும். ஒருவேலைக்கிருவேலை, s. The hot period from the twenty-third of சித்திரை, to the seventh of வைகாசி, அக்கினிநட்சத்திரம். This they call முன் னேழுபின்னேழுகத்தரி. There are some particular ceremonies performed at this season, during which the brahmans are allowed to indulge themselves in potions of sherbet. கத்தரிக்காய், s.
